Additional data improved his CED from 11.8 to 14.8 and his BW lowered from 1.9 to 0.0. Not extreme for frame size, United gained 12 points for API and now stands at 152. Take advantage of tremendous grow power in calves that will impress!
Brad Unrau Beef Specialist COBA Oklahoma
7AN350 CONFIDENCE sons have been very popular at bull sales this year. Commercial cattlemen have caught on to the high accuracy calving ease of this bull, plus, the calves are stylish and put together right with lots of thickness. I had the most customer inquiries on CONFIDENCE. 7AN319 THUNDER was my go-to heifer bull this spring. This bull excels as a feet and leg improver as well as fixing udders. Many influential stockmen are looking to this bull to improve the phenotype and maternal traits in their herds. 7AN379 ALL IN was a top choice for COBA/Select Sires customer Joe VanNice this past year and we are looking forward to his ALL IN calves hitting the ground this fall. Joe also sold several nice CONFIDENCE sons in his bull sale and they were well received. 7AN320 PROPHET calves are easily sorting themselves to the top of many groups for their incredible growth and carcass value. They are born easy and grow fast! Commercial cattlemen want this bull, as they know he adds value to his calves and their bottom line.
It is always good to hear and see what ranchers are pleased with when it comes to the new bull genetics in our lineup. My most popular bull for the last three years has been 7AN319 THUNDER. He provides calving ease along with good vigor to get up and going and a moderate frame along with good feet and udders. It’s scary when you receive a phone call during peak calving on a sync program and it is -20 degrees or lower. Seth Stoddard from Dillon, MT, called and asked what bull we had used the previous year. When I told him THUNDER he said he would use him again, because he had never seen calves with the vigor and will to live in cold conditions like they were calving in. Ryan Keltz and Beau Decker from the Bradley Livestock Ranch mentioned their favorite mother cows this year were their THUNDERs’–good feet and legs and tremendous udders along with great mothering ability. The cows paid attention to their calf when it was born but were still easy to work with. When they move to new pastures, the THUNDER cattle (which were first-calf-heifers) were mothered up as soon as they set hoof into the new pasture. THUNDER sired moderate framed, easy keeping cattle that will work. His low PAP score also helps in the high mountain country they run in. Broken O Ranch dropped 100 plus calves per day with conditions of -20 degrees or lower. They were very pleased with the vigor and calving ease of their 7AN329 MUSTANG calves during extreme conditions. Mike Bogden from Fairfield, MT, is truly happy with his 7AN362 COMPOSURE calves. The calves came easy and took off growing. With good moisture in his area there is no shortage of grass and he expects his 7AN362 COMPOSURE’s to be one of the highest weaning groups. Mike has several 14-year-old BAR Ext cows still in his herd. These are the kind of cattle that stand the test of time and he predicts the THUNDER and COMPOSURE cattle to be the same kind of highly fertile, easy keeping, long lasting cattle that make ranchers money.

Brown COVENANT U7548

1282948 • Commitment x Monu 4X-303 Minus BW and over 100 for YW, Covenant is a big-footed specimen that is loaded with rib dimension and added depth. Bieber Rouse SAMURAI X22
7AR60
1363427 • Cheyenne x Bieber Boone Back in the saddle again, Samurai is one of the most powerful growth bulls that we have ever offered! Excelling for soundness and shape, Samurai has developed a strong following because his calves truly perform yet his BW EPD remains low. Expect added length and extra pounds from this standout from the Beiber Red Angus program.
Bieber HARD DRIVE Y120
7AR63
1436718 • Gold Bar x Mission Statement Hard Drive is in a great position to make a big difference in lots of programs—excelling for both CED and BW yet offering well-above average growth. Hard Drive also ranks in the top 1% of the breed for REA and top 5% for Marb. His calves are favorites at Biebers this year— soggy, thick and good-looking with plenty of performance.

Jerry Emerich Beef Specialist Select Sire Power New York
Select Sires’ beef lineup has been well received through the spring breeding season here in the northeastern part of the U.S. Sires such as 7AN306 WAR PARTY, 7AN320 PROPHET, 7AN350 CONFIDENCE, 7AN351 CAPITALIST, 7AN379 ALL IN, 7AN394 TRACTION and 7SM65 UNO MAS have seen high demand. Breeders have been impressed with the easy calving, extreme length and stylish looks of the CONFIDENCE calves and the extra muscle shape in the CAPITALIST offspring. Both have sired high sellers in many breeder sales held throughout the area. A great customer, Phil Trowbridge reports, “TRACTION has done just what we wanted—true calving ease while adding muscle. We are getting ready to wean his first calves and they will be in the very top of our weaning weights.”
We have seen some excellent calves this spring from all over our territory. The calves at Deer Valley Farm in Fayetteville, TN are very impressive and calves by 7AN349 WEIGH UP, 7AN379 ALL IN, and 7AN394 TRACTION stand out from the rest. The WEIGH UP calves were extremely powerful and big ribbed. The calves sired by ALL IN calve easily and hit the ground growing. They are going to have plenty of eye appeal coupled with a good hip and an amazing set of EPDs. The TRACTION calves are the group that I’m really excited to follow as they’ve changed immensely from birth to weaning. These cattle come easy and are making positive moves as they get older. I think they have the look, rib, and dimension to be very useful cattle for years to come. In eastern Tennessee we saw great cattle out of BEACON and PROPHET. The BEACON’s exhibit lots of power and a ‘cowy’ look that will no doubt produce the kind of stock that we need. The PROPHET cattle have lots of merit for hanging spectacular carcasses, but also provide for scale-mashing performance at weaning. Several reports through the southeast tell us the real potential for these cattle is in our commercial and grid marketing systems. Analyzing cows, we have several bulls that rise to the top in the Angus realm from South Carolina to Kansas. 7AN299 ANSWER 71, 7AN352 COMBINATION, 7AN340 SUMMIT and 7AN319 THUNDER females look tremendous. They all have the look of solid production-oriented cows. The ones I’ve seen have all been moderate, big-ribbed, square-hipped females that have the running gear to make them a top notch cow in anyone’s herd. I think the 2014 calf crop along with our new acquisitions will propel Select Sires even further forward in the beef cattle A.I. industry.

2014 marks the third consecutive year that 7AN340 SUMMIT is the high selling beef bull for Minnesota Select Sires. SUMMIT progeny have been highly sought after in our region, topping both the bull and heifer portions of the Spickler Ranch sale this spring. It’s now becoming evident that the best thing about this calving ease bull are his daughters in production. The SUMMIT females display plenty of volume with added fleshing ability. Nearly every SUMMIT daughter I’ve seen is close to perfect in her udder design. Justin Spickler reports that these docile young cows are tremendous in terms of fertility as they bred back extremely well as 2-year-olds. The early progeny of 7AN384 COURAGE have been impressive. They show increased growth and length of body when compared to their sire. The COURAGE calves are thick-made cattle with plenty of eye appeal as they are clean-fronted and tight-sheathed. His first calves indicate that COURAGE will sire a very consistent pattern in his calves. The reports on calving ease have been promising and repeat orders are already coming in from producers that have some of the first COURAGE calves.
