Welcome

to the Love Your Home show, Belfast 2024 in association with IKEA. If you are looking for advice, information and inspiration for your home then you are in the right place.

Love Your Home Show Belfast is thrilled to partner with IKEA, the world-renowned Swedish home furnishing retailer. This exciting collaboration brings together two industry leaders to inspire and empower local homeowners with innovative and affordable home solutions.

Visitors to the Love Your Home Show Belfast can look forward to engaging with IKEA representatives and experts who are on hand to offer personalised advice on interior design, organisation, and home improvement projects.

The event features interactive displays showcasing IKEA’s latest products and services, demonstrating how they can transform any space into a place where people love to live.

At the show you’ll find loads more advice and inspiration for your bespoke project, be it an extension or just giving one room or piece of furniture a new lease of life.

And make sure to check out the Love Your Home Theatre for a range of live demos and informative talks. This year we are providing advice and ideas from some of Northern Ireland’s top interior experts. Discover mixing style and comfort, hiring a professional designer, layering textures, biophilic design, integrating renewables, exterior paint tips, and more.

Meanwhile, in the Artist and Maker Village, craftsmanship, skill and creativity abound. With a range of materials and styles, there are pieces of art to suit all tastes. Meet the makers to discuss what inspires them and what techniques they use to create unique pieces from ceramic, wood, glass, textiles and various painting methods. All products are available to buy to add something special to your home or to give as a unique gift.

Habitat for Humanity will showcase room sets dressed from their ReStore shop and demonstrate how to improve your home at a price you can afford. Chat to them and discover how anything you donate will help to improve both the environment and our community.

Meet volunteers from Belfast Tool Library who will be on hand each day to showcase the large range of tools you can borrow from the library. Library members also get access to a friendly workshop and each month Belfast Tool Library hosts a range of classes. Find out more about learning a new skill and taking home a masterpiece or the value in taking some time out for yourself.

And don’t forget to join us on Facebook and Instagram for inspirational articles and special offers throughout the year.

Enjoy the show!

Everyone needs a safe place to call home

One in four people in our world live in poor housing. Families are forced to live in places that are cold and damp, overcrowded or do not have a door that locks. Simple homes save lives. Families are healthier, children do better in school and parents have a chance to earn a stable income.

Every day, Habitat for Humanity works beside families to build, renovate or repair their home in more than 70 countries around the world. Habitat advocates to improve access to affordable shelter and support funding models that enable families with limited resources make vital improvements to their homes.

House to Home

Today, Habitat works with other charities and communities to improve the quality of housing and community buildings for vulnerable groups.

The ‘House to Home’ programme supports vulnerable people who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness, to sustain tenancies by helping them to make a house a home. The project makes a house ‘a home’ for people who need a fresh start, and are already among the most vulnerable in our community.

Volunteers help to deliver a dramatic impact, both physically and socially. Get involved today: habitatireland.org

Choosing the Perfect Kitchen Style

in 2024

When it comes to designing your kitchen, the options are limitless. You can either select a style straight from a design book or take the reins and create a bespoke design by mixing and matching elements to your taste. Much like the façade of your home, your kitchen speaks volumes about your personal style and should harmonise with the overall aesthetic of your living space.

Kitchen styles in Ireland typically fall into two main categories: traditional and contemporary. Traditional designs often evoke a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of kitchens from bygone eras, while contemporary styles embrace modern functionality with sleek, minimalist aesthetics.

Traditional Style

Traditional kitchens exude charm and warmth, often incorporating ornate details such as panelled doors, decorative plate racks, and intricate fretwork. These kitchens are perfect for homes with a classic or country-inspired decor, with features like Belfast sinks and free-standing range cookers adding to their timeless appeal.

Contemporary Style

On the other hand, contemporary

kitchens prioritise functionality above all else. Clean lines, simple door designs, and high-tech appliances define this style, creating a sleek and efficient cooking space. Popular contemporary trends in Ireland include Scandinavian-inspired designs, featuring wooden accents and a predominantly white colour palette, as well as minimalist aesthetics that embrace industrial materials like glass and metal.

08

What layout should you choose?

When it comes to kitchen layouts, there are several popular configurations to consider, each offering its own set of advantages and characteristics. The peninsula layout extends from one of the kitchen walls, providing additional countertop space and storage while creating a semi-open feel. Galley kitchens feature parallel counters and workspaces, making efficient use of narrow spaces and allowing for easy movement between tasks. L-shaped layouts maximise corner space and offer flexibility in design, accommodating various kitchen sizes and styles. U-shaped kitchens, with counters and cabinets surrounding three walls, offer ample storage and workspace, ideal for larger households or avid cooks who require plenty of room for food preparation. Each layout presents unique opportunities for customisation and optimisation, allowing homeowners to create a functional and visually appealing kitchen tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

What about colour?

In 2024, coloured kitchens continue to make a bold statement in interior design, offering homeowners a vibrant alternative to traditional neutral palettes. From rich jewel tones to soft pastels and daring neon hues, there’s a kaleidoscope of options to suit every taste and style. Bold colours like deep blues, emerald greens, and fiery reds inject personality and energy into kitchen spaces, while softer shades of blush pink,

mint green, and powder blue evoke a sense of tranquillity and sophistication. In contemporary kitchens, colour is often used strategically to highlight specific features or create visual interest, whether through colourful cabinetry, statement backsplashes, or eye-catching appliances. With an increasing emphasis on personalisation and self-expression in interior design, coloured kitchens in 2024 continue to captivate and inspire, offering homeowners the opportunity to infuse their living spaces with creativity and individuality.

Ultimately, whether you prefer the timeless elegance of a traditional kitchen or the modern efficiency of a contemporary design, there are endless possibilities to explore when it comes to creating your dream kitchen in 2024. So go ahead, let your imagination run wild, and design a space that reflects your unique personality and lifestyle.

BOLD COLOURS LIKE DEEP BLUES, EMERALD GREENS, AND FIERY REDS INJECT PERSONALITY AND ENERGY INTO KITCHEN SPACES.

My name is Sheryl Newell and I am a Professional Artist in Coagh, Northern Ireland.

I have been selling my work since I left Art college and have had many commissions over the years. I use a range of medium from oil, acrylic, watercolour, charcoal, pastel and pencil. However most of my work is mainly oil. The rural life of the North Coast of Ireland and it’s magnificent scenery has been an inspiration to me and forms the basis of most of my landscape paintings.

I also specialise in detailed portrait painting, figure painting and pet painting. Whatever the subject, it is important to me that my work is characterised by perfect colour, light and photogenic likeness. I am a people’s painter and I like to evoke memories that most of us can relate to. Whether its a day out at the beach, a special person or place, I will paint whatever people love.

Brand new showroom for Stairlift Solutions

A business that started from working out of a garage, has just expanded into Northern Ireland’s biggest stairlift and mobility showroom in Newtownards, bringing an economic boost to the town.

Stairlift Solutions’ new location was recently unveiled, offering its lifechanging products to those with mobility issues, from stairlifts to high specification and portable scooters, riser recliners, wheelchairs and more. Moving into premises at Quarry Heights in Newtownards, the business brings something new, fresh and exciting to the lively, bustling town.

Stairlift Solutions began life

as a father and son business founded by the late Ken Wallace, with the awardwinning company now being led by his son, Michael.

Stairlift Solutions now provide a whole range of other mobility products which are superbly showcased in their brand-new showroom, along with their range of stairlifts which are still at the core of the company.

Prices for their stairlifts are very competitive, and installation can be done very quickly. Customers can also rent or purchase a discounted, reconditioned model. Michael said their products enable people with mobility issues the chance to adapt their own homes to help them maintain independence and a better quality of life.

“The stairlifts allow people to stay in their own homes,

and out of nursing homes and the pandemic showed us the importance of that.”

He also explained how the recycling of stairlifts is part of his business’ package and overall aims towards sustainability.

“We offer a buy-back service which suits a lot of our customers because we can then install a stairlift from as little as £950, including installation,” he said.

“That’s half the price of a new stairlift and it’s a big part of our business because we are working hard towards sustainability through recycling,” he said, adding “We aim to have electric vans within the next couple of years.”

He said customer service is paramount, carrying the ethos started by his father.

“My dad was always very aware that he was working with elderly people and that sometimes he was the only person they may have spoken to that

day. It was never a case of a hard sell but instead he took the time to listen to their needs and that was the ethos he always worked with,“ he said.

The dedication to customer service continues today, through assurances about its many varied products.

“The stairlifts come with full warranty and servicing plans and we even have a 24/7, 365 days a year aftercare service for our 5,000+ customers. Plus, we also provide free delivery, assembly and demonstration for all our mobility products right across N.I, so we always strive to go that extra mile for our customers.”

“I’m quite a tool-y sort of person so was planning to purchase what I needed for the job, but on the first day of construction I needed a pick axe which I knew I would probably never use again and discovered Belfast Tool Library! My plan changed and I borrowed all tools for the project from the Library: I estimate that I saved approximately £800 if I had purchased everything that I used once!”

Exploring the Finest Selection of Bathroom Mirrors

In the quest for the ideal bathroom mirror, the journey often begins with a reflection on style and functionality. A bathroom mirror not only serves as a practical necessity but also sets the ambiance for the space, greeting us in the morning and bidding us farewell in the evening. Unlike standard mirrors, bathroom mirrors boast additional features like tempered glass for safety and waterproofing to withstand moisture, making them a worthwhile investment for any modern bathroom.

While incorporating technology and enhanced features such as lighting, Bluetooth connectivity, and anti-fog demisters, these mirrors tend to come with a higher price tag. The extent of tech integration dictates the cost, but the convenience and sophistication they offer make them a popular choice among homeowners seeking a touch of luxury in their daily routines.

When it comes to design, the options are abundant, catering to diverse tastes and preferences. Whether you prioritise functionality for grooming tasks or seek to make a bold design statement, there’s a mirror to suit every need. LED bathroom mirrors, renowned for their ability to mimic natural lighting and offer customisable light settings, are

favoured for their practicality and aesthetic appeal.

For those seeking a multifunctional solution, Bluetooth mirrors not only provide illumination but also allow for music streaming, with additional features like anti-fog demisters and charging sockets enhancing their utility. Alternatively, opting for a bold bathroom mirror with a striking frame can inject personality and elegance into the space, adding a touch of sophistication to even the simplest of bathrooms.

Cabinet mirrors, although reminiscent of a bygone era, are experiencing a resurgence in popularity, offering concealed storage for everyday essentials, and helping maintain a clutter-

free environment, making them particularly suited to smaller bathrooms. Additionally, embracing the trend of his and hers sinks, matching mirrors above each basin can enhance symmetry and functionality, elevating the overall aesthetic of the ensuite.

In the realm of bathroom design, the mirror serves as both a functional necessity and a decorative accent, offering endless possibilities for customisation and personalisation. With an array of styles, features, and designs available, selecting the perfect bathroom mirror has never been more exciting or accessible for homeowners.
