LIGHT UP NEW YEAR’S EVE WEEKEND WITH SUPERSTAR VANESSA WILLIAMS AT SENECA NIAGARA AND SUPER PARTY GROUP CHEAP TRICK AT SENECA ALLEGANY Insult-comic Lisa Lampanelli kicks off 2014 lineup NIAGARA FALLS AND SALAMANCA, N.Y. – The final weekend of 2013 promises to be one to remember at the Seneca Casinos in Western New York. Entertainment will ring out the year with world-famous singer and actress Vanessa Williams at Seneca Niagara Events Center on December 28, followed by a boisterous rock performance by Cheap Trick on December 29 at Seneca Allegany Events Center. The new entertainment lineup for 2014 then kicks off with fan-favorite comedian Lisa Lampanelli at Seneca Allegany on January 11. The multitalented Vanessa Williams comes to Seneca Niagara Events Center in Niagara Falls, N.Y., for the first-time ever on Saturday, Dec. 28 for an 8 p.m. performance. Tickets start at $60 and go on sale Friday, Oct. 18, at noon. After becoming Miss America in 1983, Williams rose to the top of the Billboard charts with hits like “Save the Best for Last,” “Dreamin’” and “Colors of the Wind” for the Disney movie “Pocahontas.” She has performed in multiple Broadway plays and earned a Tony Award nomination for “Into the Woods” in 2002. While she continues to enjoy a musical career, Williams is most recently known for television roles on “Ugly Betty” – for which she received an Emmy Award nomination in three consecutive years – and “Desperate Housewives.” She also has starred in movies, acted as a spokesperson for a variety of personal-care products and recently co-wrote a memoir with her mother.
As previously announced in September, Classic rock band Cheap Trick, a perennial entertainment favorite among Seneca Casinos fans, comes to Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca, N.Y. for a 5 p.m. performance on Sunday, Dec. 29. Tickets start at $30 and are on sale now. The band’s biggest hits include “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender,” “Don’t Be Cruel” (an Elvis Presley cover) and “The Flame.” They also wrote and performed the theme song for the hit TV show “The Colbert Report.” Cheap Trick was also recently ranked No. 25 in VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. Later that same evening, singer-songwriter and social activist Judy Collins will celebrate more than 50 years of music with a 7 p.m. show inside the intimate Bear’s Den Showroom in Niagara Falls. Her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides, Now” won a Grammy Award in 1968 for Best Folk Recording and her performance of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns” was named “Song of the Year” at the 1976 Grammy Awards. Collins is a representative for UNICEF and campaigns against the use of landmines. Tickets for the performance start at $45 and go on sale Friday, Oct. 18, at noon. On Saturday, Jan. 11, the “Queen of Mean” Lisa Lampanelli returns to Seneca Casinos for the third consecutive year – this time at Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca, N.Y. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show start at $25 and go on sale Monday, Oct. 21, at noon. Lampanelli’s previous two performances in Niagara Falls sold out, and her upcoming adultsonly show is billed as part of the “Leaner and Meaner Tour.” She is considered an “equal opportunity offender” with “raunchy and gut-busting” performances and has achieved notoriety for numerous celebrity roasts on cable television as well as her monthly women’s column in Playboy magazine. Lampanelli also recently starred in the fifth season of the hit television show “The Celebrity Apprentice,” finishing in the top four of 18 contestants. The Seneca Niagara Events Center also will host two upcoming shows geared toward Asian guests. The Thanksgiving Chinese Show takes place on Thursday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m., and the Vietnamese Christmas Dance Show takes place on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 10 p.m. For more information about the shows and to purchase tickets, interested guests are asked to contact the Seneca Casinos’ Asian Marketing Department by calling 716-501-2688.
