NOTE

TIME FOR N E W TRADITIONS THE

holiday season IS SYNONYMOUS WITH TRADITIONS.

LAST YEAR FOR MY FIRST THANKSGIVING IN DENVER, MY BOYFRIEND AND I OPTED TO MAKE TURKEY TACOS WITH CRANBERRY SALSA RATHER THAN A MORE TRADITIONAL SPREAD. THIS IS OUR NEW NORMAL. NOT NECESSARILY THE CRANBERRY SALSA, WHICH WAS GOOD BUT NOT GREAT, BUT RATHER THE MENTALITY THAT JUST BECAUSE YOU’VE ALWAYS DONE SOMETHING A CERTAIN way doesn’t mean you have to keep on doing it. That forward-thinking mentality is pervasive in Denver, and it’s one of the things that keeps drawing people to this city in record numbers. When you talk to recent transplants, you’ll hear them cite many different reasons for moving here, from our booming economy to our quality of life, but the city’s progressive mentality is the underlying glue that binds most of the reasons together. That forward-thinking mindset is what led Colorado to be the first in the nation to legalize recreational cannabis a few years ago. It’s also what inspired us to the launch the magazine you’re reading now earlier this year. It’s a way of thinking that proves to be contagious. The election is still a few weeks away as of press time so I can’t speak to the results yet, but I can say if current trends hold, recreational cannabis will be spreading to some new states soon. So this month, we encourage our readers to embrace change, to push outside the comfort zone, to establish new traditions. To create a new normal. Or at least create a pie crust from scratch. In this month’s cover story “In Crust We Trust,” our Edible Critic John Lehndorff offers some pie-making tips and sage words of advice to help even the most dough-phobic among us achieve Zen in the art of apple pie. First things first, in piemaking and in life, one should be present and grin. Be present and grin: that’s my goal for the coming holiday season. Things may get hectic between now and the start of 2017, between the gift exchanges, the parties, the dinners, the shopping, the decorating, but I want to embrace it all—even the most chaotic moments. Because it’s in chaos that life happens, that new traditions are established, that memories are made. I’m KIM SIDWELL © CANNABIS CAMERA

thankful for the chaos, because it’s a sign of a full life, a life well lived.

Cheers! Stephanie Wilson EDITOR IN CHIEF @ STEPHWILLL

FOUR CORNERS At the far southwest end of Colorado sits Four Corners National Monument, the only place in the US where four states—Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado—come together in one spot.

KILTS Today, we usually associate kilts exclusively with Scottish men. However, Puebloan men also wore kilts made from cotton. Kilt designs could be incredibly intricate, with human and animal hair woven into the fabric. These skirts provided protection from the elements while granting freedom of movement. And if you’ve ever spent a day in the Four Corners during the summer, then you know that extra ventilation would certainly be extra welcome.

On October 13, nearly two thousand people came out for the second installment of Sensi Night, a free bimonthly celebration of the local cannabis community. Three different consumption vehicles greeted part y-goers as they arrived at the bustling Broadway locale. Inside the three-story venue, more than 60 top cannabis companies set up shop so the brand reps could mix and mingle with the guests and industry insiders. The next #SensiNight in on January 20 and you should be there. Like the Sensi Mag Facebook page and keep an eye out for details—it’s one party you won’t want to miss.
