DETAILS IV: New Museum upon Vignola’s Palazzo Farnese
New building in a contemporary form was inspired by the architect Vignola's project. While reaching the most suitable volumes with this, it is protected the architectural aesthetics at same time also with the idea comes from the garden to follow the same approach with the soundscape strategy. As a continuation of our Soundscape strategy, is was tried to build a noise free area in the Palaces Courtyard. It was aimed that designing of the courtyard with acoustic mesh fabrics that can communicate with both visual and auditory feelings. The shape of the new intervention is following the elliptical shape of the old amphitheater in this way We intend to have a different sound experience with the sound reflections of these elliptical shapes. The new addition is composed by three floors in which we will find different functions such as: Reception, exhibition spaces, library, services and office.

The floors of the building are mostly composed of open exhibition areas, except for the ground floor in which we will find more constructed divisions because of the presence of different services. In north elevation of the new palazzo farnese and the main facade of our addition in which was found the union of old and new structures and our different choices in terms of materials. This material choice gives an opportunity for the visitors to understand the difference between new and old that can be seen easily. The attachment points of the expansion and the historical building are connected with the profile and protective mortar. While the protective mortar protects the historical structure from construction damage, the profile functions as a seismic belt. This helps to preserve the historical structure in a possible seismic situation.

Healing Landscape Trauma Resilient Landscape: Parco Batteria di Arbatax Arbatax, Sardegna Landscape Design Studio, teamwork, 2020 Prof. Pereira Alves Henrique Pessoa
Our goal for this project is to make Arbatax and more specifically Battery Park, a destination for those who wish to disconnect from everyday life, in order to travel inwards on a search for self discovery. By no means are we trying to attract as many people as possible to the site, recognizing large numbers of people leave behind a large amount of waste. Rather, we aim to attract those who value nature and understand their role as part of this complex web called life. We aim to redefine Battery Park’s identity from a state of abandonment and neglect, to that of an integral pilgrimage destination offering a magnificent view of the island’s beauty. As for the red rocks square, we aim to redesign the area in order to offer a unique experience, enhancing the existing natural assets, making the long pilgrimage an unforgettable life experience that lives eternally in the memories of those who have journeyed there. Keeping in mind, the yearly music festival Red Rocks Square annually holds, we designed our site to accommodate this yearly celebration, with the theme of radical self expression ensuring guests “leaving no trace”. We aim to raise awareness on our environmental impact, finding ways to repurpose and reuse resources in a more sustainable way. Software Infrastructure

Sardinia was inspiring on many levels. The journey itself was long and felt somewhat like a pilgrimage to reach our destination. Arbatax is something similar to an island within an island, amplifying the sense of isolation. What was most memorable were the kindness of the people with hearts of gold. The lack of inhabitants allowed us to feel the overpowering impact of nature. We had a chance to truly be and sit with ourselves, without the noise of the busy everyday life. We enjoyed listening to the sounds of nature, from the charming bells of sheep to the angry waves of the sea.

interventions
The main program of the red rocks square area are public and private workshops as well as residential accommodation for international and local artists. The aim is to encourage appreciation for the arts both by the locals and tourists alike. Local artists have a chance to display their works in the designated exhibition spaces that will be appreciated by tourists who come to the area to absorb Sardinian culture. The masterplan also includes an amphitheater for performance events, a meditation maze for contemplation, and an algae farm on the rocky shores. Furthermore, the battery park includes a sensorial experience that activates all five senses, reflective pools that provide for thirsty animals, belvedere lookout points to appreciate the view, and an individual temple for a unique meditative experience. These two areas are connected by a zig-zag ramp that allows you to transport between the two levels. The main architectural intervention was done on the red rocks square to further take advantage of its strategic environmental qualities. The architecture was designed in a way that compliments the concept; that all life on Earth is connected in a symbiotic relationship. The starting point was born from a single point. This point connected to many other points and thus created a weaving system, symbolic of our interconnectedness as a planet. The end result is a series of Earth Domes connected through corridors. In the words of Antonio Gaudi, "There are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature, therefore, buildings must have no straight lines or sharp corners." What makes this structure unique is the sustainable material and method of construction known as SuperAdobe that we will discuss in the material’s section of this report. The conical shape of the architecture is reminiscent of the ancient nuraghe structures, possibly for their effect of guiding the eye up to the heavens. The circular skylight on the buildings creates a dramatic effect of light piercing through from the heavens. The pointed arch on the windows and doors references Arbatax’s Arabic influence, which according to tradition is named from the Arabic word for "14 Towers". Therefore, the overall architecture aesthetic aimed to embody the eclectic spirit of the island that was influenced by many cultures over time. The landscaping style is inspired by the fluidity of water, a key element in our site. Another source of inspiration was the work of the famous Roberto Burle Marx. We wanted to design something that was organic and resembled natural shapes. The desired effect was to design a sensorial experience that would activate all five senses, therefore etching a lasting memory in the minds of those who visit the area. We carefully chose suitable species that would compliment the environment, the details of which can be found in our presentation. One of our strategies to repair the landscape is to utilize an ancient technique reinterpreted into a land art installation that becomes part of the landscape engaging in a dialogue. Earth acupuncture is employed to release landscape trauma and restore a healthy balance. This involves the insertion of large copper needles into nodes to heal and harmonize the disturbed environment. This technique is recognized by the Feng Shui practice as a way to restore damaged landscapes, in our case, a war torn battle-ground that has witnessed fear, death, and destruction.

Socio-Agri Hub Milan The Unfinished History of Porto di Mare
Milan, Italy Urban and Landscape Regeneration Studio WHDPZRUN, 2020 Prof. Paola Nella Branduini, Prof. Paolo Debiaggi Taking into consideration the social problems of Porto di Mare area, project proposes the creation of spaces in which it will be possible to promote the economic and social growth of the population of the area through the exploitation and understanding of the tangible and intangible heritage of Porto di Mare. The project proposes the regeneration of some areas that will be used for the study, practice and profit concerning the peri-urban agriculture, tradition of the place; also all the buildings design for these activities is aimed to respect the landscape and the use of sustainable materials. Thanks to the regeneration of green areas and the creation of new ecological corridors, it will be possible to explore nature and biodiversity, to exploit green spaces as places of aggregation and relax and to practice sport. The creation of a large bioretention pond is planned, which will solve the problems of flooding in the area by encouraging the cultivation and introducing biodiversity. Socio-Agri-Hub also takes into account the training of future generations, for this reason a restoration is planned for Cascina Carpana aimed at introducing workshops for children to learn about the benefits of nature and the knowledge and importance of the history of the place. To ensure a complete understanding of the historical importance of this place, within the Cascina the main building will be dedicated to the creation of a small museum in order to share the historical heritage of the Porto di Mare, not only with the residents, but also with tourists and all those who want to take a walk in the new Porto di Mare.

Interventions and development works have been carried out on the landscape, infrastructure, and built area on a multi-scale basis for the Porto di Mare. Interventions were made for the landscape, taking into account social, environmental, cultural, and technical factors.Firstly increasing the cycling network to improve sites' soft mobility and accessibility was proposed. Also for the adaptation to the natural environment, the pathway's routes were redesigned in a more comfortable way. All these soft mobility paths have a connection between all cascinas and Chiaravalle in terms of strengthening the historical connection. socio-agri hub milan

The remaining parts of the building (porticoes and others), arranged along the perimeter to determine the “finished” shape of the complex, adopt unitary construction and material characteristics, such as: load-bearing walls and columns in solid brick, floors and roofing (with trusses) in wood. The complex, moreover, despite some limited incoherent reworking, still reveals interesting original typological and construction features. For Cascina Carpana a regeneration has been planned to create a large workshop for children. These educational programs will be aimed to holding workshops to learn more about the history of Porto di Mare area, but above all to develop children’s manual and sensory skills. These workshops are aimed at entertaining young people to involve them in post-school activities and offer and educational service to support their growth. Inside the Cascina there will be workshops for children in order to develop their knowledge of nature and place through sensory activities. There will be a garden in which children can discover through the use of their senses the benefits of nature, there will also be a biology workshop and areas dedicated to the study of nature to make possible a direct analysis and let children discover how nature works. To ensure a complete knowledge of nature, some areas of the farm will host animals that children and tutors can take care of, just as if they were working on a real farm. There will also be a history workshop, a library and a museum area where children will be able to show their work and make the whole population of Porto di Mare participate in their activities. socio-agri hub milan

Agri-Eco Edge of Piacenza Piacenza Re-loaded: East-West Belt
Piacenza, Italy Urban and Environment Design Studio, individual work, 202 Dott. Arch. Matteo Motti The aim of this study is to define the problems in the southern line of Piacenza, to strengthen the inadequate relationship between the peri-urban and city, and to offer proposals in line with the strategies that aimed to increase permeability and an ecological and agricultural living belt in the east-west corridor that provides controlled growing toward to south-north directions and responds to the usage of different areas relatedly. As a starting point it was defined, creating an peri-urban edge with the productive landscape which formed like a belt that extend towards the site and answer different actions in close relationship to improve connection with peri-urban side of the city. But as a disadvantaged situation, Tangenziale road creates a distinction between the city and the countryside. Agricultural areas, on the other hand, the built environment, including commercial, industrial activity spreaded around site in insufficient connection and relationship. That is why there was no interaction between these two different regions on the southern line of Piacenza. Our aim is to create a fluidity between the city and the peri-urban with a porous urban texture, and to prevent tangenziale from being a sharp boundary of agricultural areas, to provide permeable movements in the city-periurban axis. In line with all this, it was aimed to define a rainbow consisting of colors defined to Piacenza by different activities, different functions. And all kind of actions connected to each other with the help of greenbelt and cycling paths physically and visually and it provides us a continuation between West and East Side. The areas that distributed both sides of the tangent, a strength connection between city and peri urban areas. Tangent motorway used as a urban spine here to before to separate to different land usage, but now to connect both side of the city like sewing. supported with the green corridors through City .

The overall aim of the project is to feed Piacenza’s economic and food self-sufficiency, without breaking the social bond with the city, with the aim of increasing sustainable energy resources and agriculture and using them for natural energy resources; is a transformation into a city that provides food, energy, and social infrastructure. Eco-village settlements, which is an important part of the project, is located on the west side close to the riverbank. The tendency to be close to water is an orientation that has existed since the first settlements. Ecovillage has common use areas, social facilities, camping areas, sports areas, horticulture lands, etc that make people come together and live with growing their own food and using their own renewable energy with minimum human consumption. Generally, eco-village units are scattered on both sides of the road. Because there is already infrastructure thanks to existing residential areas. and in order to strengthen social relations, a physical, social, and visually secure pedestrian and bicycle connection has been established with the green overpasses and associated with the residential areas. Tangenziale has an important role and at the same problematic role for the project and the peri-urban site of the Piacenza. This map gives us an idea about how the motorway change in terms of its capacity, the importance of surround, and a density level of that point indeed. And what kind of solutions did we offer accordingly. There are two analysis below, the first one on the left is showing the most interesting sections of Tangenziale.
39
agri-eco edge of piacenza
Eco-village settlement has spread both sides of the road, but they are connected in terms of physical, visual, and social aspects. Green cross overpass helps pedestrians and cyclers to pass through comfortably and safely. Hedgerow buffers that we propose help surround to ecovillage, providing a shelter from noise, pollution, and wind whilst enhancing a sense of enclosure and biodiversity. First intervention that was proposed pedestrianization rather than an existing motorize path above the tunnel to give it another function such as the horticulture cultivation field working with cooperation with the agronomy center. The park, arboterum and orchards, which Tanzengiale separates and creates danger to pedestrians and cyclists, have been maintained as a green chain connected by underpasses and overpasses. This view has a strategically important location because its located near the biggest junction of the Tangenziale and this point defined as a node due to provide multi-directional mobility turn around. It was aimed to make strong the graphical expression by combining sections and diagrams. Agricultural areas and ecology are the key points of our project; so with using these sections, we tried to explain our land use diversity and our energy conversion systems. We created solar panels, wind turbines and biomass fields in the part of the our site, for the energy needs of the city and eco villages. So they will be able to generate their own energy using renewable energy systems .The system that was proposed, aims to create more ecological environments, not just green spaces. The focus of our project is on agricultural areas and ecology.Aim was to be able to produce and consume energy without damaging these natural green areas we have created by using solar panels, wind turbines and most importantly biomass energy systems.

El Patio de la Libertad THINKING THE CITY: The “model” city – an “open” prison Barcelona, Spain Architectural Design 6WXGLR- I, WHDPZRUN 2019 Assoc. Prof. Karin Elke Hofert Feix
The basic approach to form-finding was to take advantage of the existing terrain topography by dispositioning the prison's spatial functions on different altitudes. there was kept away from the purist approach while it remained true to the essence of the city. Ferdinand Braudel said that "Seas that Unite, Mountains that Divide" to define the Mediterranean. With this approach, the settlements of the masses were rotated and opened from mountain to seaside slowly at a rotation angle of 45 degrees. These placings refer to the orientation to sea view. So units are opening to the sea direction. The settlement goes from bottom to top as general to private. In addition, privacy increases from outside to inside. Software Infrastructure

site strategy The geometry of the project comes as a result of the interpretation of the site contour and the proposed program. All the requirements are met with this solution, respecting the ground topography and surrounding, thus blending with it. The area consists of three main focus areas for the different users (the idea of the challenge) and three main axes that cut off them vertically. The concept of tumulus is proposed as the main concept that generates the project. The idea of a tumulus indicates a catalytic efect to reduce the appearance of buildings. The area has been buried in the landscape as much as possible and the average height of the city has not been surpassed. The fact that the landscape is buried establishes a link between past and present and aims to unite the main axis with nature. Divided constructions are positioned according to the axes and appearances are created and these appearances are directed to the sea side of the visitor or to the archaeological site. Mysterious volumes are hidden under the green roof open towards the sea as part of the scenery and the visual framework.

The divided structures are positioned relative to the axes, thus the sights are occured according to the wide corridors that buildings created. These views direct the visitor to the seaside or archaeological site. Thus, mysterious volumes hidden under a green roof opens and turns towards to the sea as a part of the scenery and serve as an intangible bridge between the sea and the city.
