DREAM Dream is a collection inspired by Sereni & Shentel’s latest muse, home grown singer songwriter Laura Munan. This yet to be discovered teen sensation won us over with her crystalline vocals and self taught ukulele skills. At the tender age of 18, Laura’s singing style has a melancholy retro edge. Her voice is reminiscent of a distant dream, haunting with an air of familiarity.

This collection captures Laura’s feminine brand of cool. Modern street style with a hint of vintage.

SIX QUESTIONS FOR LAURA

Where do you draw inspiration for your song writing?

Anything and everything, and it really depends on when I have the time.

Have you always been a good singer and who has influenced you most musically?

Who are your favourite musicians?

I’ve been singing since I was a little girl, mainly in my primary school band, not sure how good I was back then hahaha. At that time my biggest influence was definitely my dad, but nowadays I’m more inspired by Lana Del Rey, Frank Ocean and Tash Sultana (no offence Dad).

What’s your favourite genre of music?

Probably something along the lines of alternative pop? I tend to listen to music that’s not so mainstream - there’re so many amazing smaller named artists out there. Genre doesn’t matter to me much. If it sounds good, I’ll listen to it.

What’s your favourite song?

Mack The Knife - Bobby Darin, a true classic.

What do you do when you’re not playing music, do you have any other interests?

Music is a big part of my life, from singing classes to practising at home it takes up quite a few hours of my week. Though I still have plenty time for hanging out with friends and studying (of course). I enjoy photography, reading blogs and watching movies with my family.

Do you think there is a correlation between music and fashion?

Definitely! Every artist has their own ‘look’ which is unique and in a way represents the music that they make, I think that’s really cool. If you think about it singers and bands aren’t just famous for their music alone, but also for the way they carry themselves, fashion is a big part of that.
