He wanted a glass of milk, which was his practice as he often got thirsty in the middle of the night. Meanwhile his parents were sleeping soundly in bed. When Jake heard a noise in the living room and saw a light was on, he went downstairs where he found two men. They asked him his name, told him they were neighbours and friends of the family then proceeded to ask him where the plasma tv was. Jake showed them, and said they also had a big stereo and dvd player. “Will you open the back door for us”, asked one of the men. “We don’t want to wake Mum and Dad”. Jake held the door open while the men loaded the car, and then he went back to bed. His parents didn’t know anything about the burglary until they got up the next day. “Nobody was hurt, we will survive this,” his father said. “I can’t be angry with Jake because he thought he was doing the right thing by helping his neighbours! I’m just sorry I wasn’t awake to protect him and prevent the burglars getting away with our things”. Fortunately the police caught the burglars later that day.
