LEWISBURG, PA. - The Seton Hall women’s golf team shot a team-record low 293 in the final round of the Bucknell Invitational to win the tournament by six strokes over second place Rutgers on Sunday. The tournament victory is the fifth in the short history of the program, but the first in five tries at the Bucknell Invitational. The Pirates had come close in recent years, finishing third in 2011 and tying for second in both 2012 and 2013. Seton Hall all-time record low team score for a single round is 290, shot in the second round of last year’s Yale Invitational. That was on a par-71 course. Today’s 293 is the team record on a par-70 course. Leading the charge on Sunday was junior Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.), who shot a personal best 1-over-par, 71, in the final round. Zabrosky finished in a tie for fourth place, with a 15-over-par, 76-78-71-225.

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The Seton Hall women’s golf team shot a program-record, 291, in the final round of the 2014 William & Mary Invitational to finish third among 13 teams in Williamsburg. After a pedestrian 314 in round one, the Pirates continued to improve as the tournament progressed. Seton Hall shaved 14 strokes off its score in round two, settling with an impressive 300, to move from a seventh place tie to fourth place. In round three, the Pirates shaved nine more strokes off to finish one stroke behind Morehead State for second place. Their 291 was the best score of the day, besting UNC Wilmington’s second-best 297 by six strokes. Seton Hall’s 291 is a program-record for a par72 course. Last season, the Pirates fired a 290 at Yale, but that was on a par-71 course. For the three-round event, the Pirates finished at 41-over-par with a 314-300-291-905.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - Senior Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and junior Karlie Zabrosky (Erie, Pa.) each shot a 2-over-par, 73, in Sunday’s final round to help lift the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the Yale Intercollegiate. Collectively, Seton Hall registered its second straight sub-300 round with a 13-over-par, 297, on Sunday. The Pirates finish the three-round event at 46-over-par with a 306295-297-898, 11 strokes behind the team champion and host, Yale. Harvard finished second, six stroke ahead of the Pirates, while BIG EAST foe Xavier placed third, four strokes ahead of The Hall. Zabrosky turned the best tournament performance of her career. The junior placed third among 89 individual golfers with a 5-over-par, 71-74-73-218. Zabrosky’s third place finish is the best in her career and her +5 is four strokes lower than her previous best tournament vs. par. She finished just four strokes behind the individual champion, Yale’s Elisabeth Bernabe. Kruse shaved five strokes off her second round score to also shoot a 73 in round three. The Pirates’ senior finished with a 15-over-par, 77-78-73-228, to tie for 21st place overall. Among those Kruse is tied with is teammate Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio). Pantelas used a second round 69 as the catalyst to shoot a 15-over-par, 82-69-77-228.

McClure, Pirates Edge G’Town

DAYTONA BEACH, FL. -- Senior Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) shot a 2-under-par, 70, in Saturday’s final round to lift the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a one-stroke victory in the 2015 BIG EAST Conference Championship and successful title defense. The title gives the team back-to-back championships, the first for the Seton hall program since softball won titles in 2004 and 2005. McClure was simply masterful, playing her best golf when the team needed it the most. After going 36 holes without a single birdie, the senior recorded five birdies during round three. McClure’s big finish put her at 8-over-par for the tournament with a 77-77-70-224, good for tournament runner-up. She finished just one stroke behind Georgetown’s Jacquelyn Eleey, who took home the individual title at 7-over-par. Seton Hall looked like it was going to cruise to its second straight title early in the round, but the Pirates had to hold off a furious charge by Georgetown in the final holes of the day. The Pirates led the field by as many as 13 strokes at the turn and were 2-under-par through nine holes. But when The Hall shot a collective 8-over-par through holes 10, 11 and 12, Georgetown made its move. With the final three golfers approaching the 18th hole, Seton Hall had a one-stroke lead. Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio) chipped her third shot to within three feet of the hole, and calmly made the putt to match Georgetown’s Eleey and preserve the slim margin of victory.

NCAA HISTORY

SETON HALL WOMEN’S GOLF AT THE NCAA’S RALEIGH, N.C. -- Seniors Ali Kruse (Overland Park, Kan.) and Erin McClure (Tucson, Ariz.) each shot a 7-over-par, 79, in an emotionally-charged final round as the Seton Hall women’s golf team finished 17th at the 2015 NCAA Raleigh Regional on Saturday. The round brings to an end to two remarkable careers that spanned the program rough moments in its infancy to back-to-back BIG EAST titles. Kruse and McClure are arguably the two greatest golfers in the short history of the program and finished their careers on the high stage, the NCAA Regionals.

Kruse finishes her second and final regional at 17-over-par with a 75-79-79-233. Consistent as ever, she was 4-over through her first nine holes and 3-over on her back nine. McClure finishes up with a 21-over-par, 78-79-80-237. After shooting 6-over-par through the first five holes in round two, McClure was a perfect 5-for-5 in pars beginning today’s round. After a solid first nine, bogeys started to mount on the back as the end began to near. Collectively, Seton Hall shot seven strokes better in Saturday’s final round than it did in round two. The Pirates complete their second NCAA Regionals appearance with a 74-over-par, 309-318-311-938 to finish 17th in the field of 18 conference champions and national leaders. The Hall bested fellow New Jersey school Fairleigh Dickinson by 48 strokes and finished eight strokes behind Wichita State for 16th place. Top-seeded South Carolina won the Regional at 13-over-par, eight strokes ahead of Northwestern. Kruse was the top Pirate individual finisher. She finished 25 strokes behind LSU’s Madelene Sagstrom, who won the event by six strokes at a remarkable 8-under-par. Seton Hall’s top golfer on Saturday was junior Megan Tenhundfeld (Loveland, Ohio), who fired a 3-over-par, 75. Tenhundfeld was just 1-overpar through the first nine holes, including a birdie on hole #18. She was nearly as impressive on the 2015 NCAA RALEIGH REGIONAL (Raleigh, N.C.) back, and added a second birdie on the fourth Par 72 - 18 Teams Competing hole. For the 54-hole tournament, Tenhundfeld tied McClure with a 21-over-par, 82-80-75-237.
