Seton Hall women’s golf team to a fourth place team finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sunday.

Win had a hole-in-one on the par-3, fourth hole, and birdies on holes No. 12 and No. 14, in route to her second straight sub-par round. For the tournament, she placed sixth among 92 individual golfers with an even-par, 76-70-70-216. Win’s hole-in-one is the first ever during tournament play for a Seton Hall women’s golfer. Win’s third round, 70, is her fifth career sub-par round, which ties teammate Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) for the most in Seton Hall history. Furthermore, her 216 ties former Pirate great Ali Kruse for the lowest three-round, par-72 score ever for a Pirate. It’s Win’s ninth career top-10 finish. A day after tying Seton Hall’s par-72, single-round record, the Pirates, as a team, shot one stroke better to set the record. The Pirates shot a 2-over-par, 290, in round three to set the mark. For the tournament, The Hall shot a 21-over-par, 304-291-290-885, and finished the highly-competitive event in fourth place. Penn State and Washington tied for the team title at even-par, while Rutgers place third at 15-over-par. Sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) fired a 2-over-par, 74, in the final round to finish at 8-over-par for the tournament with a 77-73-74-224. Junior Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) shot one stroke better on Sunday, a 1-over-par, 73, to finish the twoday event at 10-over-par with a 78-75-73-226. After a rough first round, freshman Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) turned in her second straight stellar performance with another 1-over-par, 73. For the tournament, she finished with a 12-over-par, 82-73-73-228. Junior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) rounded out the Pirates’ scoring with a 10-overpar, 82, on Sunday. She finished the season-opening event with a 16-over-par, 73-7782-232. 4

PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) fired a 1-under-par, 71, in Sunday’s final round to lead the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a sixth place finish at the Princeton Invitational. At one point, Ronchel Salas had 11 straight pars, and capped her fantastic final round with birdies on two of her final three holes. For the tournament, she tied for sixth place among all individual golfers with a 2-over-par, 75-71-146. Ronchel Salas ended the event five strokes behind the individual champion, Yale’s Ami Giachandani. As a team, Seton Hall tied Penn State for the lowest second round in the field, a 6-overpar, 294. The effort allowed the Pirates to jump one spot in the standings to sixth place, finishing with a 25-over-par, 307-294-601. Despite the sixth place finish, The Hall finished just two strokes out of third place. Penn State won the team title at 12-over-par. Fellow BIG EAST competitor, Georgetown, placed second at 20-over-par. Junior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) also had a strong final round, riding three birdies in her final six holes to a 1-over-par, 73. For the two-round event, she finished tied for 24th place with an 8-over-par, 79-73-152. A tough final hole on Sunday caused junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) to slip a bit down the leader board, but she still played well enough to be the second-best Pirate golfer for the tournament. She tied for 20th overall with a 75-76-151. Both sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) and freshman Sarah Fouratt (Pasadena, Calif.) shot a 3-over-par, 75, in round two. Kness birdied three of the final five holes to finish strong, while Fouratt tallied a team-best five birdies on the round. For the two-day event, Fouratt tied for 29th with an 11-over-par, 78-75-153, while Kness finished one stroke behind her at 12-over-par with a 79-75-154.

NEW HAVEN, CONN. – All five Pirates shot 2-over-par or better in Sunday’s final round as the Seton Hall women’s golf team vaulted up the team leader board to finish third at the 2018 Yale Women’s Intercollegiate.

REHOBOTH BEACH, DEL. – Junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) became the sixth golfer in Seton Hall women’s golf history to claim an individual title and lifted the Pirates to the team victory at the 2018 Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational on Sunday.

Sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) fired an even-par, 71, to lead the Pirates on a day that the entire lineup excelled. Kness moved up to a tie for 23rd place at 15-over-par with an 80-77-71-228.

Win had two birdies and 12 pars in Sunday’s final round in route to a 2-over-par, 73. Entering the final round, she trailed by three strokes, but was one of very few golfers to be able to withstand 25 mph winds, and vaulted to the individual lead. Win won her first individual title by two strokes with a 3-over-par, 69-74-73-216. She is the first Pirate to claim an individual title since teammate Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) won the Brown Bear Invitational to complete the 2017 fall season.

Collectively, the Pirates saved their finest round for Sunday, firing a 5-over-par, 289, which was the second-lowest among the field of 17 teams. The Hall moved up to a third place team finish with a 46-over-par, 310-299-289-898, improving at least 10 strokes for a second straight day. Boston University won the team title at 38-over-par, while Stirling placed second at 43-over-par. Two BIG EAST teams were also in the field. St. John’s placed 11th at 89-over-par, while Butler finished 14th at 101-over-par. Junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) was one of three Pirates to shoot a 2-over-par, 73, in round three. Win was the top Pirate performer over the three-day event, finishing with a 9-over-par, 78-71-73-222. She tied for ninth place among 95 individual golfers for her 10th top-10 finish of her career and the second in three tournaments this fall. Juniors Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) and Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) also shot a 2-over-par, 73, on Sunday. Staudt finished the event tied for 17th with a 12-overpar, 75-77-73-225, while Ronchel Salas finished one stroke behind for the tournament with a 13-over-par, 79-74-73-226. Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) had the second-best final round on Sunday. She shot a 1-over-par, 72, to move 13 places in the final standings. For the tournament, she finished tied for 32nd at 17-over-par with a 78-80-72-230.

Win’s 216 breaks Seton Hall’s par-71, three-round record by two strokes held previously by Karlie Zabrosky. Making it a clean sweep for Seton Hall, the Pirates claimed the team title after a third round 16-over-par, 310. Normally, an unattractive score, due to the wind, the Pirates’ 310 was the top score of Sunday’s third round. The Pirates were able to hold on to the team lead with a 38-over-par, 287-293-310-890. Despite the wind, the Pirates’ three-round score of 890, shatters their par-71 record by eight strokes. Seton Hall’s team title is the 14th in the history of the program, and the fourth under second-year head coach Natalie Desjardins in only 13 tournaments since taking over the helm. Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) tallied a 7-over-par, 78, in round three, which normally would have dropped a golfer down the leader board, but with the high winds, it kept her in the top-5. Sager finished fourth overall in the tournament, her third career top-5 finish, with a 9-over-par, 75-69-78-222. Junior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) became a third Pirate to finish in the top-10. She also had a 7-over-par, 78, in the final round, thanks to 13 pars. For the tournament, she notched her third career top-10 finish with an 11-over-par, 72-74-78-224.

RIO VERDE, ARIZ. – Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) fired a 1-under-par, 70, to lift the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a second place finish at the 2019 Rio Verde Invitational on Sunday.

WALLACE, N.C. – Juniors Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) each shot a 4-over-par, 76, to lead the Seton Hall women’s golf team to a 12th place tie at a darkness and snow-shortened River Landing Classic.

Sager had five birdies in today’s final round, and was 5-under-par though her final 12 holes. It’s her seventh career sub-par round and her second this year. For the tournament, Sager tied for 13th place among 101 individual golfers with a 7-over-par, 7970-149.

The field was scheduled to play two rounds on Monday and one on Tuesday, but with about three holes still to play in round two, all play was halted yesterday due to darkness with the intention of resumption this morning. However, overnight snow prevented any golf from being played today, so the tournament reverted to its standings following round one. Those are now final.

As a team, Seton Hall tied fellow BIG EAST competitor Xavier for the top second round score, an 8-over-par, 292, which represents a 10-shot improvement from its first round score. The performance enabled the Pirates to jump three spots in the final standings to finish second. For the tournament, the Pirates fired a 26-over-par, 302-292-594. The Hall finished behind only the Musketeers, who edged it by just three strokes.

Sager had a team-best three birdies to fuel her round, while Win had a team-high 14 pars. Both tied for 34th place among 90 individual golfers. They finished eight strokes behind the individual champion, East Tennessee State’s Hee Ying Loy, who was 4-under-par.

Seton Hall had two Pirates recorded top-10 finishes with junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) and Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) tying for eighth place overall, one stroke better than Sager. Win shot a 4-over-par, 75, on Sunday to finish the two-round event with a 6-over-par, 73-75-148. It’s Win’s 12th career top-10 finish, which ties for third-most in Seton Hall history. Ronchel Salas used four birdies to fuel her final round and was 3-under-par over her final 10 holes. She shot a 2-over-par, 73, on Sunday to finish the tournament at 6-overpar with a 75-73-148. It’s her second top-10 finish in five tournaments as a Pirate. On Sunday, Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) fired a 3-over-par, 74, to finish in a tie with Sager for 13th overall. For the two-day, snow-shortened event, the sophomore was 7-overpar with a consistent 75-74-149.

Collectively, the Pirates tied Georgia State for 12th place with a 21-over-par, 309. Middle Tennessee State won the team title at 2-over-par with a 290. Seton Hall’s lone BIG EAST competition, Georgetown, finished just one stroke head of The Hall at 20-over-par. Sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) tied for 47th with a 6-over-par, 78. She had no worse than a bogey on any hole. One stroke behind Kness was junior Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain). She had 12 pars in route to a 7-over-par, 79. Rounding out the lineup, junior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) shot an 11-over-par, 83. Competing as an individual, senior Gianna Tomeo (Bradenton, Fla.) shot a 20-over-par, 92.

Seton Hall was able to jump their lone BIG EAST competition in the final day, Xavier. The Musketeers finished fifth at 26-over-par. North Florida won the team event, besting the Pirates by seven strokes. Delaware finished second at 18-over-par. As well as Sager played for the tournament, she was not the top Pirate golfer for the event. That honor goes to sophomore Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.), who closed out her second straight strong tournament effort with a 3-over-par, 74, on Monday. first round scorecard

CALLAWASSIE ISLAND, S.C. – Junior Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) shot a 1-over-par, 73, to lead the Seton Hall women’s golf team in round three and help them to a third place team finish at the 2019 BIG EAST Championship on Sunday. Sager was 2-under-par over the final 10 holes and even birdied the vaunted par-5, 17th hole to post the top Pirate score of round three. For the tournament, Sager tied for fourth place with a 12-over-par, 80-75-73-228. The top-5 finish is the fourth of her career, and qualifies her for the All-Tournament Team. Collectively, Seton Hall shot a 16-over-par, 304, in the final round, the third-best score in the field. The Hall finished the championship event with a 54-over-par, 311-303-304-918. Xavier won the team title at 38-over-par, while Georgetown finished just two strokes ahead of The Hall at 52-over-par for second place.

second round scorecard

Seton Hall’s 918 is its lowest team score in the BIG EAST’s four years at Callawassie Island. That includes a second place finish last year, and a BIG EAST title in 2016. It’s also Seton Hall’s fifth top-3 finish at the conference tournament in the program’s nine-year history. Junior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) shot a 6-over-par, 78, in round three, her highest of the tournament, but it was still good enough for her to claim the honor of tournament runner-up. Win finished second with a 9-over-par, 74-73-78225. Xavier’s Makayla Fitzpatrick won the individual title at even-par.

third round scorecard

Although no Seton Hall women’s golfer has claimed the individual crown of the BIG EAST Championship, Win becomes the fifth Pirate to finish as runner-up, and the first since former teammate Cassie Pantelas tied for second at the 2017 event. Win’s top-5 finish is the seventh of her career, which ties for third-most in school history. She also earned All-Tournament Team honors for a second straight year. One of the players tied with Sager for fourth place is teammate Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain). Ronchel Salas turned in her best round of the tournament with a 2-overpar, 74, on Sunday. She was even-par on the back nine. For the tournament, she shot a 12-over-par, 79-75-74-228. Ronchel Salas is a third Pirate to claim All-Tournament Team honors. It’s the second straight year that the Pirates have had three players on the prestigious team. Freshman Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) had 13 pars in round three in route to a 7-over-par, 79. For the tournament, she tied for 25th place with a 33-over-par, 90-80-79-249. Rounding out the Pirates’ lineup, Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) had a 10-over-par, 82, in round three. The sophomore placed 21st with a 25-over-par, 78-81-82-241. 10
