THE ICONIC EAU DE PARFUM NOW REFILLABLE
Welcome from Avril and Vikki We’re thrilled to welcome you to the Londoner this evening, to celebrate the return of the Pink Ribbon Ball. After three years, it’s so special to be back with a bang and celebrating with familiar faces and new friends. Every year, we come together for one reason - to do everything we can to raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now – a charity close to all our hearts. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the UK. One in seven women are diagnosed in their lifetime along with 370 men every year. Everyone here will know someone who’s had their life turned upside down by a breast cancer diagnosis. And some of you will have lived with a diagnosis yourself.
As co-chairs, we’d like to say a huge thank you to our fabulous committee. The Pink Ribbon Ball simply wouldn’t happen without their hard work, passion and dedication. We also want to thank everyone who has been a member of the committee over the last three decades.
So, tonight we celebrate those living with or beyond a breast cancer diagnosis. We also remember everyone who’s died from breast cancer, honour their memory and pledge to create a future where nobody loses a loved one to breast cancer again.
And finally, we want to say thank you to you – our guests. Thank you for joining us tonight and giving so generously.
We volunteer because we want to be part of Breast Cancer Now’s vision that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and be supported to live well. Breast Cancer Now want to make that future a reality. They’re the place to turn for anything and everything to do with breast cancer. But we need your help. For example, if we raised £110,000 tonight, that could fund Breast Cancer Now’s research centre – for five days. If we raised £230,000, that could fund a threeyear research project. The money you raise tonight really could help save lives.
We also thank everyone who made this evening possible, by donating prizes and through your generous donations.
We wish you a fantastic evening. Together, let’s raise as much money as we can and spread the word about Breast Cancer Now’s world-class research and lifechanging support Avril O’Riordan and Vikki Eccles Pink Ribbon Ball Co-Chairs
Welcome from Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive at Breast Cancer Now Thank you for coming to our Pink Ribbon Ball tonight. Having not been together since 2019, we truly are back with a bang. Whether you’re a loyal Pink Ribbon Ball guest, or joining us for the first time, I’m so glad you’re here. Thanks to you, we’ve made huge progress since we held the first Ball in 1994. Because of research, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before. And our world-class researchers are at the forefront. In 2021 alone, our research led to over 200 discoveries. And our support services are still here for anyone affected by breast cancer. From 24/7 support on our online discussion Forum, to tailored support for secondary breast cancer, we’re here to make sure that no one faces breast cancer alone. Vital work like this is only possible because of you. With the help of your generosity, the Pink Ribbon Ball has raised over £4.5 million. That’s enough to fund our research centre, home to ground-breaking breakthroughs, for over 200 days. I can’t thank you enough.
But although we’ve made amazing progress, breast cancer isn’t done. Over 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. That’s someone every 10 minutes. If nothing changes, by 2030 this will rise to someone every eight minutes. We need to make more progress in the next 30 years than ever before, if we’re going to make sure that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live, and be supported to live well. That’s where you come in. We still need your support to meet that 2050 goal, and make sure we can always be here for everyone affected by breast cancer. So, please dig deep. Raise a glass, raise funds, and have a fabulous evening. And once again – thank you for being here with us. Delyth Morgan Chief Executive

We’re Breast CanCer noW, the researCh and support Charity. We’re Breast Cancer Now, the research and support charity. However, you’re experiencing breast cancer, we’re here, with world-class research and life-changing support. Our vision is that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live and be supported to live well. But to achieve this ambitious goal, we need to work towards that target right now. Every year, over 55,000 people hear the words ‘you have breast cancer’. In the next decade, this is predicted to rise by another 13,000 a year, bringing the annual total to over 68,000. Without action, the number of people being diagnosed will continue to rise, and tens of thousands more will die from the disease. We believe we can turn the tide on breast cancer. But we’ll only do it with the support of amazing people like you. Will you join us?

Our Speaker, Fran Whitfield In 2020, Fran was given two years to live. This year, her scans show that she has had a complete response to treatment. When Fran was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer at 25, she was determined to defy the prognosis she’d been given. After surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she’s been declared No Evidence of Disease.
To support people like Fran and raise vital funds for Breast Cancer Now, please pledge via the tablets on your table.
It's thanks to pioneering research and techniques that Fran was able to see such incredible results from her treatment. Every year, we host the Pink Ribbon Ball in order to fund further research and care in the hopes that we will continue to hear stories like hers.

One in seven women will get breast cancer. It’s quite the shock to know how many are diagnosed at my age. Cancer doesn’t discriminate against age or lifestyle, but - together - we can enable more people to live with it without fear.
