Storefronts

Composition

A typical storefront in the Kenmore Boulevard Historic District consists of three common parts that include the bulkhead at the base; a display window; and a transom above. The entrances were typically recessed to prevent doors from swinging over the right of way. If your storefront cannot be repaired, it is recommended to replace the storefront using the same materials using the same dimensions. If it has been severely altered, it is recommended to rebuild the storefront to match the original design. This can be done using historic photographs, drawings, or other existing physical evidence. In absence of historic information, a design can be developed using typical storefront designs and proportions seen throughout the Boulevard.
