Celebrating
33 years of wildlife art and
the sporting life, Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has grown to be the largest event of its kind in the nation. With fine art, conservation exhibits, sporting demonstrations, educational programs and special events, SEWE offers a wide variety of displays and activities in venues throughout downtown Charleston.
2015 Highlights
Quick Draw / Speed Sculpt & Auction 3 p.m., Friday, Feb 13 – Auction to Follow Witness first-hand the imagination, talent and process behind SEWE artists. Watch participating artists paint or sculpt an original piece from start to finish in just one hour. And together again, Julie Jeppsen and Heiner Hertling create an original painting. Immediately following, a live auction will be held for attendees to bid on the one-of-a-kind paintings and sculptures. Charleston Place Ballroom
Duet & Quintet 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb 14 – Auction to follow Featured Artist Grant Hacking and John Seerey-Lester will paint an original oil painting while sculptors Scott Penegar and David Turner create a piece of sculpture out of plaster and clay—all to the background of a Charleston Symphony Orchestra Woodwind Quintet. Twelve Days of SEWE Christmas A new exhibit featuring original art by Jason Tako, this exhibit features twelve paintings each illustrating one of the days from the classic Christmas carol. Tako is a longtime SEWE favorite and was chosen for this exhibit because of his broad range of subject matter and his appealing blend of impressionism and realism. This unique exhibit will be on display and available for purchase through silent auction, closing Sunday, Feb 15 at 12 p.m. Charleston Place Ballroom

Born to Explore™ with Richard Wiese An exciting addition to SEWE 2015, Richard Wiese, host of Born to Explore™ with Richard Wiese, an Emmywinning travel and adventure program, will bring his stories to life at the Charleston Music Hall. Wiese is a world-class explorer, Emmy-winning producer, respected field scientist, author and youngest recipient of the 100-year-old Explorer’s Club. Wiese has circled the globe, capturing images and living one adventure after another since a young age. He will share his love of adventure with SEWE audiences at two shows. Living With Wolves Jim and Jamie Dutcher spent six years living with a pack of wolves at the edge of Idaho’s Sawtooth Wilderness, and are returning to SEWE for an encore presentation. Dedicated to bringing about a better understanding of the true nature of wolves and their importance to a healthy ecosystem, they will share their intimate story and unique insight to life with the wolves. Busch Wildlife Sanctuary Busch Wildlife Sanctuary will introduce the wonders of the natural ecosystems and give SEWE attendees an up-close look at animals ranging from alligators, bobcats and foxes to birds of prey, snakes and much more. Seating is first-come, first-served. Charleston Music Hall

Original Wildlife & Sporting Art SEWE will host over one hundred artists in Charleston Place. New England artist, Grant Hacking, has been chosen as the 2015 SEWE Featured Painter. Charleston Place Ballroom Negotiations, Julie Jeppsen
Two Tank DockDogs® Competitions Once again, SEWE is proud to host the only two tank DockDogs® event east of the Mississippi. Watch dogs of all kinds and skill levels compete in various water jumping competitions in side-by-side tanks. “Waves” of competition held throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with finals Sunday afternoon. Decoy Auction by Guyette & Deeter 12–4 p.m., Saturday, Feb 14 An investment quality decoy auction held by Guyette & Deeter, offering over 200 investment quality decoys without reserve ranging from $200 to over $10,000. The auction will consist of mostly Atlantic Coast decoys including examples by Elmer Crowell, the Ward Brothers, Ned Burgess, William Bowman, Ira Hudson, Lee Dudley, Mark McNair and many other carvers. A full color auction catalog is available for $20. Previews will be held Friday, Feb 13, 3–5 p.m. and Saturday, Feb 14, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Charleston Marriott
The Miller Collection: Decoys to Decoratives Peruse a select sampling of the Miller collection’s one-of-a-kind carvings and paintings of wildfowl during SEWE. Assembled over 50 years and consisting of 3,000 works of original wildlife art, the Doug and Ellen Miller collection is one of the largest private collections of wildlife art in America. Map Your Day
SEWE has two continuous loops for ticket and badge holders. Shuttles are for your convenience but please note bus times can be unpredictable due to traffic. Many venues are walkable (see map). SEWE shuttles operate from 9:45 a.m. through 30 minutes after close of show Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Charleston Place Brittlebank Park Charleston Music Hall Charleston Place SEWE shuttle is provided at no additional cost for SEWE ticket and badge holders during show hours. Handicap accessible transportation is available; please request the Durham Bus Service representative for assistance. Additional parking near Brittlebank will be available on Feb 14 & Feb 15 for a flat rate of $5. Follow signage on Lockwood Blvd. to the lot behind the police station on Fishburne Street. No parking allowed in the grassy areas in front of Brittlebank. While leashed dogs are allowed at outdoor SEWE venues, they are not permitted on SEWE shuttles. Parking Reminder: There will be limited to no parking at Brittlebank on Friday. We highly recommend using the free SEWE shuttle service. Ticket or badge required.

Junior Duck Stamp Art Contest Sponsored by South Carolina Ducks Unlimited Once again, SEWE partnered with SCDNR and the US Fish & Wildlife for the 2015 SC Junior Duck Stamp Contest. Combining science and art, this program teaches K-12 students about waterfowl and wetlands conservation.
