Introducing Mr. Jeff Rhone New Stage Craft Director
After 25 years and 100 shows, Mr. Kevin Humke retired last year as Technical Director at OGHS. We found a unique way to fill the position by splitting it up into two areas, stage craft and technical design. We are excited to announce that Mr. Jeff Rhone has joined our team as the new Stage Craft Director. With a diverse background in construction and education, Jeff brings a wealth of experience and a passion for hands-on learning that will undoubtedly enrich our theatre program.

Jeff’s journey began in 1993 when he graduated from high school. His early career included working at Bruns Construction and the Sioux Falls Ski Patrol, where he honed his teamwork and problem-solving skills while serving the community. During his time at the University of South Dakota from 1993 to 1997, he earned a degree in Computer Science, which complemented his growing interest in technology and project management. In the mid-90s, Jeff expanded his professional repertoire, working with the Vermillion Ambulance and Bi-State Window and Door, all while starting his first construction company in 1996. This entrepreneurial spirit has defined much of his career, showcasing his ability to innovate and lead in the construction industry.
In 1998, Jeff married Kelly, and they welcomed their daughter, Abbey, in 2000. Shortly after, they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where Jeff took on the role of a stay-at-home dad until the birth of their son, Landon, in 2004. The family then relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska, where Jeff pursued a degree in Construction Management from Southeast Community College, graduating in 2007.
Jeff’s career continued to flourish in Lincoln, where he worked at Earl Carter Lumber from 2007 to 2011, specializing in a custom cabinet shop. In 2011, he returned to Sioux Falls and founded Woodworks Construction, further establishing his reputation in the industry. His commitment to education became evident when he began teaching at O’Gorman High School in 2018. This role allowed Jeff to share his extensive knowledge and skills with students, fostering a new generation of builders and craftsmen.
As the new Stage Craft Director, Jeff is eager to combine his construction expertise with the theatre department. His vision is to create a collaborative environment where students can engage in theatre design, learn essential skills, and explore the world of stagecraft in an innovative and exciting way.
We are thrilled to have Jeff on board and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our program and students.
