Spotlight on Ms. Kimberly Schulte

Carrying on the Schulte Legacy

Ms. Kimberly Schulte has recently stepped into the role of Technical Director for the Theatre Department at O’Gorman High School, marking a new chapter in her already vibrant career. As the seventh sibling of the Schulte family, she continues the family’s legacy at O’Gorman. The Schulte family’s enduring presence at the school speaks volumes about their commitment to education and OGHS and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Ms. Schulte.

After graduating OGHS in 2015, she attended Benedictine College, where she earned a degree in secondary math education. Her passion for teaching led her to serve as a Catholic missionary in Belize for two years, where she taught both math and religion at a local high school. This experience not only deepened her commitment to education but also enriched her understanding of diverse cultures and communities. After her time in Belize, Ms. Schulte returned to the United States and taught at a Catholic high school in Wichita, Kansas, where she honed her teaching skills further.

In her quest to return home to Sioux Falls and be closer to her family, she was thrilled to accept a position at O’Gorman Junior High. Now in her second year there, she has embraced the opportunity to help shape young minds, all while staying true to her commitment to Catholic education. “While I love teaching math, I love even more helping students grow toward their most important goal— heaven,” she shares.

In addition to her academic role, Ms. Schulte’s passion for the performing arts has brought her back to the stage she knows and loves. As a high school student at O’Gorman, she was deeply involved in technical theater under the guidance of Mr. Kevin Humke, contributing to the first 16 shows in the newly built Performing Arts Center (PAC). Her enthusiasm for lighting and sound design during those formative years has only intensified over time. “The PAC has always been one of my favorite places,” she reflects. “I hope to help students find the same joy I found there in high school—and still do!”

As Technical Director, Ms. Schulte is eager to inspire a new generation of students, helping them explore their creative talents while fostering a love for the performing arts. Her unique blend of teaching experience, technical expertise, and unwavering dedication to her faith and community makes her an invaluable asset to our department. With Ms. Kimberly Schulte, students can look forward to an engaging and enriching experience that not only emphasizes technical skill but also encourages personal and spiritual growth.
