CERTIFIED ROADSIDE MARKETS The South Carolina Department of Agricultureâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Certified Roadside Market Program was established in 1972 as the first official roadside market program in South Carolina. The program is voluntary and was designed to improve the quality of roadside markets within our state. Our Certified Roadside Markets must meet certain criteria that are designed to ensure an enjoyable experience for both producers and consumers in South Carolina. Shopping at a Certified Roadside Market is beneficial for both farmers and consumers. Many of our roadside markets grow their produce and make the products that they sell in their markets, but our members also source produce from other local farmers in their areas, improving the economy all across the Palmetto State. The South Carolina Department of Agricultureâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Certified Roadside Market Program encourages you to learn more about where your food comes from and the agricultural industry within our state.
