THANK YOU Dear Friends of St. Francis High School, I am delighted to provide you with this annual report that documents the many accomplishments and successes we enjoyed throughout the 2018-2019 school year thanks to your generous financial support. Thank you too for all you did to make my first year at St. Francis High School so remarkable. Philanthropic support increased by 9% from fiscal year 2018 to fiscal year 2019. Academic and co-curricular opportunities for students continued to expand and I am pleased to report that our revenues exceeded expenses, which were held almost flat with less than a 2% increase. As always, we keep our focus on what really matters—the students. 81% of our costs are directly associated with ensuring an excellent educational experience. That percentage is even higher when you consider all the IT support we provide associated with being one of only 39 U.S. schools designated as a Microsoft Showcase School. In addition, we awarded $588,000 in tuition assistance in the form of merit and need-based scholarships and financial aid. As you know, our mission at St. Francis High School is to promote the spiritual, academic, physical, and social development of our students in the daily presence of Jesus Christ. And, our successes in fulfilling this mission are many. St. Francis High School continues to foster among our students a great love of God and love for the other; deliver superior instruction—three students scored a perfect 36 on the ACT!; showcase tremendous student talent in the arts; and demonstrate athletic prowess on the fields and courts. And perhaps, most importantly, provide the true Christian community that is the hallmark of our school! Truly, we would not be able to provide this exceptional Catholic, college-preparatory education if not for you. Yes, the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, our patron, shines brightly each day within our remarkable students, extraordinary faculty and dedicated staff. MICROSOFT SHOWCASE SCHOOL St. Francis High School was awarded the distinction of “Microsoft Showcase School” for fully integrating the Microsoft Surface Pro technology and the Office 365 Suite of tools and software into the classroom. In 2018, for the second year in a row, we were one of only 39 schools in the United States to earn this designation. St. Francis High School joins an elite group of schools worldwide that exemplify leadership, modern teaching and learning, inclusivity, innovative learning, and a professional learning community while using cutting-edge technology.

2018-2019 FUNDRAISING HIGHLIGHTS
THE ST. FRANCIS ANNUAL FUND Each year, annual gifts from alumni, parents, and friends enable young people from Chicago’s western suburbs and around the world to reap the many benefits of the unique St. Francis High School educational experience. Donors to the St. Francis Annual Fund provide critically needed unrestricted support for capital and programmatic enhancements, technology upgrades, tuition assistance and more. Unlike endowment funds, annual giving dollars are flexible and accessible. They can be directed to a specific area or put to use right away where and when they are needed most. Annual gifts to the St. Francis Fund make a profound difference in the lives of St. Francis High School students every day, enabling them to develop spiritually, academically, physically and socially in the daily presence of Jesus Christ.
SPARTAN CLASSIC – September 28, 2018 The Alumni Scholarship Golf Outing hosted by the Alumni Association was held at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton. Through the efforts of alumni volunteers, every dollar raised provides tuition assistance for alumni children and grandchildren. This is the Alumni Association’s biggest fundraiser of the year and in 2018 with the support of 152 golfers, more than $74,000 was raised for tuition assistance.
FESTIVAL OF FASHION – November 18, 2018 The St. Francis High School Mothers’ Club hosts an annual day of fellowship, shopping, and fashion featuring SFHS student, faculty, staff and coach models. The Festival of Fashion enabled 450 guests to enjoy a pleasurable afternoon with new and longtime friends gathered to support the mission of the school and raise more than $46,000. St. Francis High School continues to grow as students thrive in mind and spirit and as they learn in the classroom, perform on stage, compete on the courts and fields, serve in the community and worship our God.
#GIVINGTUESDAY – November 27, 2018 #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. givingtuesday.org #GivingTuesday follows a day of Thanksgiving, two days of shopping deals (Black Friday and Cyber Monday) and focuses on charitable end-of-year giving. On #GivingTuesday 2018, St. Francis High School received $30,265 in donations during the 24-hour event. Donors were encouraged to have fun by voting for their favorite faculty to complete an “egg-smashing” challenge on the day after the event, which was filmed LIVE on Facebook and reached more than 5,000 people.

ENSURING OUR FUTURE AUCTION – March 9, 2019 The theme for this year’s annual signature fundraising event was ROADTRIP 2019. This event brings the entire St. Francis High School community together annually to raise funds used to sustain and advance three core areas: academics, co-curricular activities, and tuition assistance. Thanks to dozens of volunteers the school was transformed with road signs and travel décor for an evening of fun and fundraising. The generosity of our alumni, parents and friends, through donations, attendance and involvement help to make our auction successful each and every year! Guests and remote bidders participated in a silent auction and raffles throughout the night. Those present at the event bid on the LIVE auction (which included exclusive sports packages, concert tickets, trips and unique SFHS experiences) and our Fund-a-Cause – a paddle raise to specifically fund the resurfacing of the northeast parking lot. SPIRIT & PRIDE GOLF OUTING – May 20, 2019 More than 125 current and alumni parents, alumni and friends attended the 10th annual Spirit & Pride Golf Outing at the premier White Eagle Golf Club in Naperville. Each year the fundraising goal for the golf outing is determined to meet a current need for the school. This year the funds raised were used to complete the Fund-a-Cause from the auction to fund the resurfacing of the northeast parking lot. In total, the golf outing raised $53,631. Please join us on Monday, May 18, 2020 when we host the Spirit & Pride Golf Outing at White Eagle Golf Club.
VOLUNTEERS Volunteers are integral to the life of St. Francis High School! During the 2018-2019 fiscal year more than 400 volunteers worked thousands of hours on numerous projects and events. We couldn’t do it without you! With gratitude for their time and talent, all volunteers were invited to a Mass of Volunteer Appreciation on May 1, 2019. Alumni, parents and friends of St. Francis High School are encouraged to partner with us to share their gifts of time and talent. The Alumni Association, Mothers’ and Fathers’ Clubs and the Auction and Spirit & Pride Golf committees are just a few of the ways that you can volunteer.
