For all the pretty buildings and engineered wonders in Singapore, the heart of Singapore lies in places much more rustic and less cosmopolitan: our hawker centres. The 100+ hawker centres throughout Singapore, and the delicious food that they provide, are the true lifeblood of Singapore, serving hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans daily. Beyond the food though, they form the basis of communities, with people of differing races and economic status able to to connect and bond over the country’s shared love of food.
