SCC TENNIS ACADEMY
The SCC Tennis Academy operates daily from the Singapore Cricket Club which – with its artificial grass, grass, and hard courts - is one of the rare places tennis players in Singapore can experience a wide array of courts. Offering both kids and adult lessons, the academy caters to players of all ages and skill-levels with its professional and highly-experienced team of coaches.

CULTIVATING KIDS IN TENNIS
We offer a range of group lessons fit for every skill level, headed by our top coaches Juan Ortiz and Jerome Ong. Juan is a passionate USPTA Tennis Professional with over 13 years of experience helping students of all ages achieve their potential through innovative program design and delivery, while Jerome is an accredited tennis instructor with years of coaching and competition experience in Singapore. Students begin at the lowest level, or youngest age, in the Red Ball Group with activities focused on developing racket handling, stroke fundamentals, hand-eye coordination and basic footwork. Courts and balls are adjusted to their level as the child learns better court positioning, sound grips, tactical awareness, and strategies in comparison to practice on an improper sized court with a higher bouncing ball. Orange Ball is the next stage, designed to teach players the different grips, stances, and basic spins associated with each particular stroke. This allows them to develop their own style while they delve into more advanced footwork, singles and doubles match play, and basic strategies. The kids then advance to Green Ball, with activities designed to continue the development of proper technique, consistency, anticipation skills, and shot selection - preparing players for competitive rallies and team tennis. This introduces players to more competitive match play and is the last step before Pre-Academy. Pre Academy is for top individuals who are selected by our head coaches to undergo higher level training. Activities are designed around full stroke development, the use of different spins to improve shot selection, advanced footwork, developing individual strengths, recognizing opponent’s weaknesses, and anticipating shots - all of which can then be applied into tournament settings.
