Universal Multi-Seeding Combination
The Sum of Precision and Operator Convenience
Effective seeding
Speed up - sow when the soil is ready, with the Kverneland u-drill IT’S CRITICAL Sowing your crop at the right moment, is one of the critical decisions you have to take as an arable farmer. The soil has to be prepared with care and the moment of sowing depends on the right conditions, like local weather. To be successful you need a drill that is effective.
IT’S SPEED When the time is right, you want to drill immediately. Tomorrow conditions may be worse, so speed is important. You need a machine that has the right capacity to finish the job in time. To give your crop a headstart.
IT’S EASY Soil structure is not the same in every field, as are working conditions. So you often have to adjust your drill.
You don’t want to have to stop working every time. That’s why we have developed seed drills that can be easlily adjusted, mainly from within the tractor cab. Like the u-drill.
IT’S PLACEMENT Once you have configured your machine, you want to rely on perfect execution. The Kverneland u-drill is excellent in precision placement of the seed. Not too deep, not too shallow. So it will germinate evenly and result in a great crop.
IT’S EFFICIENCY You invest in the best equipment for sowing your crop. In return you want the best results and low running costs. Our seed drills are designed with the lowest weight possible. Less pulling force needed means saving on fuel costs.
IN SHORT, IT’S EFFECTIVE

u-drill: Perfect Seed Placement at High Speeds
u-drill sets new benchmarks With the u-drill, Kverneland Accord – the specialists for seeding technology within the Kverneland Group – have launched a reliable multi-seeding combination for conventional seeding and mulch seeding on large areas – ideal for farmers with an annual rate of work of 80 to 5,000 hectares.
With its mature design, the u-drill combines high performance with operator convenience to achieve consistently good work results – even at high speeds! The secret is a modular design with perfectly aligned stages of work.
Uniform seedbed over the entire working width
The u-drill is extremely operator-friendly
Perfect preparation, levelling, reconsolidation of the seedbed, and placing and pressing the seeds is achieved in one single pass – that saves time! The high accuracy of distribution and the precise depth placement ensure a uniform emergence. Here, proven Kverneland components such as the Qualidisc short disc harrow are at work, which ensures a fine and uniform seedbed over the entire working width.
All important settings can be changed from a central point, at the push of a button. The coulter depth can be adjusted conveniently from the cab, calibration is started by pushing a button directly at the metering device, and the automatic headland management system only requires a single hydraulic control valve.
The heart of the machine is its coulters. The extremely slim structure of the laterally offset discs ensures an easy penetration into the soil so that nearly all of the coulter pressure (as much as 100kg) can be used for pressing with the integrated press wheels – that saves fuel!
Consistently good results, whether on sand, loam or clay Flexible equipment options, interchangeable tools and a lightweight, yet robust structure allow the deployment of the u-drill on all kinds of sites. For a perfect result in all seeding conditions,
Kverneland recommends the fully equipped u-drill with front tyre packer. Kverneland offers the u-drill in 3m, 4m and 6m. Conclusion: The universal multiseeding combination in proven Kverneland quality saves time and money!
It goes without saying that the u-drill is fully ISOBUS compatible, so the driver is always kept informed about the machine’s performance at a glance. Another plus is the large hopper with its capacity of 3,000l (3/4m) resp. 4,350l (6m) and the easily accessible metering devices. Application rates and part widths can be controlled by the optional GEOcontrol. The farmer can fully focus on driving in the field.
Strong, User-friendly and Universal – u-drill Step by Step !
NEW
Step 1: Level the soil For the best possible preparation, the front tyre packer levels the soil, crushes large clods and thus paves the way for the optimum depth control of the following tools. The front tyre packer has a diameter of 800mm and can be lifted hydraulically, simply by pushing a button, when it is not needed.
ELDOS - The new metering device • Electrically driven metering devices with ISOBUS and sensor control • Remote control for calibration test at the metering unit. • For small to large seeds and fertilizer with application rates from 2 to 400kg/ha using only 4 standard rotors. • Toolless exchange of the rotors, quick and easy by hand. • Simple and exact calibration test by separate seed guidance. • Integrated emptying flap and shut off.
Step 2: Prepare the seedbed Two rows with short disc harrows – the familiar and well proven Kverneland Qualidisc with its conical disc shape and individual suspension ensures a fine and uniform seedbed over the entire working width. Thanks to a new hydraulic system, the disc harrow can be adjusted with continuous variability from the cab.
Step 3: First pack, then seed For a perfect depth control of the coulters and an optimum seed-to-soil contact for excellent capillary action, the loosened soil is re-compacted with large tyre packers. The large tyre diameter of 900mm significantly reduces the tractive power required by the machine and thus ensures a consistently good work result.
wheels. The result: uniform seeding depth even at high working speeds! The seeding depth and the coulter pressure can be centrally controlled by the push of a button from the tractor – this saves additional time.
Step 4: Seed and press with guaranteed seeding depth The slim shape of the coulters with their slightly offset steel discs makes for an easy penetration into the soil. As a consequence, little pressure is required in this step and only little soil is displaced. The coulter pressure of 100kg can thus primarily be used for the pressing with the integrated press
The secure depth control and the pressing-on of the seed grain produce a capillary system in the soil that ensures a perfect water supply and excellent germination.
Step 5: Closing Combing the soil completes the seeding. S-shaped or finger harrows ensure an optimum covering of the seeds. The working intensity can be set by the stepless pressure adjustment and at three different angles. To prevent damage to the harrow when reversing, it is equipped with an effective reversing device.
State of the Art Seeding Technology
Kverneland as the pioneers of pneumatic seeding technology present ELDOS, a new electric driven metering device for all their pneumatic driven seed drills. ELDOS, the new metering device is always electric driven by e-com and fully ISOBUS compatible. GEOcontrol by GPS signal is possible which avoids double seeding on headlands for example. Special sensors ensure complete functionality from the tractor cab. Four standard rotors for fine and large seeds or fertilizer are available. If the driver has taken the wrong rotor by mistake, he will get a warning since the system is completely self-controlled and recognises the rotors. The exchange of the rotors is quickly and easily done without any tools. Application rates from 2 to 400kg/ha are possible. The metering device is easily accessible.

Remote control for calibration start/stop/break
Calibration The calibration test has become very simple due to the separate seed guidance. A remote control allows the driver to operate the calibration process at the metering device. No gear has to be adjusted. The driver simply presses one start button at the metering device, enters the desired values into the terminal, and that’s it. The calibration is done automatically. A calibration flap with an integrated gate prevents any seed from dropping into the hose.

u-drill rigid 3.00 - 4.00m working width
The rigid u-drill is available either as standard drill combination (u-drill) or as grain and fertilizer version (u-drill plus - see page 12). The rigid u-drill comes in working widths of 3.00 and 4.00m and convinces with its compact design, an advantage on the road and in field. The transport width corresponds to the working width of the machine and the rear mounted wheel packer also acts as a transport device. The u-drill works at high forward speeds up to 18 km/h, whilst maintaining a consistent working depth. The u-drill meets the Isobus 11783 standard, with the ability to control all main elements of the drill individually and from the IsoMatch Tellus screen (or other ISO 11783 compatible screens). A host of new electronic features are available as standard equipment such as a fully automatic headland management system and GEOcontrol including variable seed rate control.
u-drill fold 6.00m working width
Powerful performance - that is what the u-drill fold offers. Available in 6m working width with a hopper content of 4,350l, it presents many technical details which will facilitate your work.
Large press wheels (Ă˜ 380 x 50mm) with a central pressure adjustment up to 100kg ensure a good and constant seed-to-soil contact. A half-width shutoff of the coulterbar is standard.
The easy adjustment of the machine will impress you. Starting with the good access of the metering device, the easy adjustment of the disc harrow and the coulters, up to the filling of the easily accessible hopper, the u-drill is quickly ready for operation. The seeding depth is set centrally via clips, optionally a central seed depth adjustment via ISOBUS terminal is available.
Minimum power requirement is only 120kW. The metering device is easily accessible.
Large off-set rear wheel packer (ø900mm)
u-drill plus
The u-drill plus is a combined grain and fertilizer version of the u-drill. Depending on the working width, the hopper capacity is either 3,000l (3m and 4m) or 4,350l (6m). The hopper is divided lenghtwise and the two metering devices are accordingly positioned either side. The proportion grain : fertilizer is 40 : 60. The u-drill plus is especially adapted to the needs of those markets where a precise fertilizer placement at the seed is required. These crops can show substantial yield increase when applying fertilizer with a
relatively high % of phosphate together with the seeds. In Scandinavian and Eastern European countries the fertilizer is usually placed between the rows besides and below the seed, whereas in other countries e.g. Scotland the preferred method is to apply both seeds and fertilizer in the same rows. In trials of spring sown crops, yields have shown increases up to 25% compared to crops where the fertilizer has been applied by other methods. There are two different ways of fertilizer placement to fulfil customers’ demand: The first version offers the fertilizer placement in the second row of the disc harrow unit to place each 25cm a row
of fertilizer. The second possibility is to place the fertilizer in each seed row at the CD coulter unit with a second tube. The u-drill plus is able to deliver fertilizer application rates up to 400kg/ ha and 15kph. The pressurised hopper system at the 6m version ensures these rates are maintained even under the most difficult conditions. The hydraulic fan drive is powered from the tractor hydraulics.
Fertilizer Placement Depending on the individual agronomic requirements, the fertilizer can be applied either directly in the seeding row or in between two rows.
Fertilizer placement by the disc harrow The fertilizer outlets in the second row of the disc harrow are allocated in such a way that the fertilizer line is applied exactly in between two sowing rows. All plants have exactly the same distance to the incorporated fertilizer depot. By adjusting the working depth of the disc harrow the depth of the fertilizer placement is controlled.
Positioning of the distribution heads: Fertilizer placement by the disc harrow (above), fertilizer placement in the seeding row (below)
Fertilizer application in the seeding row The fertilizer application in the seeding row is done by an extra fertilizer outlet. The fertilizer is placed in mixture with the seeds. This is especially suitable for phosphoric fertilizer in order to support the initial germination and development of the plants in the most efficient way. The special design of the coulter with two exits also allows the seeding of two different crops in just one working pass.
CD Mulch Seed Coulter
The new CD mulch seed coulter consists of two steel discs (Ø410mm) with 12.5cm row spacing. Thanks to its very slim design the soil movement is very little, which leads to a smaller need for pressure to achieve the seeding depth. Thus more of the available coulter pressure of up to 100kg can be lead to the press wheels when needed. The coulter pressure can be set infinitely. Fully integrated maintenance-free disc bearings provide for an easy flow of the coulter. The press wheels (Ø 380mm) are made of special rubber which convinces with a self-cleaning effect. So no scrapers are required. The coulter staggering is 200mm. The coulter pressure adjustment is done centrally and can be set infinitely from
0-100kg. The seed depth adjustment is centrally steered via the ISOBUS terminal (series equipment). The coulter bar consists of one central box-tube and is fixed to the seeder via a 3-point parallelogram linkage. The distribution head is mounted on the coulterbar.
CD mulch seed coulter The advantages: •
Extreme slim design – less pressure required for penetration.
•
Less pulling force – due to less soil movement.
•
Integrated depth guidance and press wheel functionality.
•
Maintenance free, high performance bearings.
•
Only one coulter – no left / right nor short / long coulters.
Seed Rate Calculation Tool Kverneland Accord offers a calculation tool for the seed rate adjustment of Kverneland Accord pneumatic seed drills. Calculate the seed rate by entering the respective data of the cereal or enter directly the required seed rate: kg/ha. The Kverneland Group Seeding Apps are available for free through Apple’s App Store and the Google play store.
The Hopper - Everything in View
Often large machines offer limited visibility and manoeuvrability. Not so with the u-drill! From the tractor cab the operator has the entire machine in view, the working procedures can be monitored constantly and conveniently. The Kverneland Accord u-drill offers the perfect balance between size and compactness! The hopper can easily be filled using big bags and a front loader or telescopic handler. For the 6m grain version a filling auger is available optionally. The hopper has a capacity of 3,000l (3/4m) resp. 4,350l (6m). The metering device of the grain only version is centrally positioned whereas the two metering devices of the plus version are laterally positioned. The hopper is fitted with an access platform system ideal for maintenance
purposes and the monitoring of the filling operation. Steps inside the hopper provide for additional safety. LED lights are available as option. Showing glasses in the front wall of the hopper give the operator a constant overview of the level in the hopper. A close fitting tarp cover protects the seed from dust and water and can easily be opened and closed with the help of the quick release locking lever. The positioning of all the major components is well organised and clear.
The ratio grain : fertilizer at the plus version is 60 : 40.
Safe on the Road
Quick in Field
In field the u-drill is quickly brought into work position. Without leaving the tractor, the operator initiates the unfolding sequence via the ISOBUS terminal.

Intended to make life easier for farmers.
Combination of Headland Management and GEOcontrol The larger the machine becomes the more important it is to have a high level of automation for the operator! With the u-drill universal seeding combination Kverneland has achieved this and offers major advantages for the farmer.
User-friendly Headland Managment for the u-drill Up to now, it has not been possible to control the individual implements of the seeding combination one by one and independent from each other. The whole machine had to be lifted or set down simultaneously loosing precious meters. Due to the irregular starting and stopping of the machine, overlapping and bald spots often occur between the field and the headland. This is now history. Due to the intelligent combination of GEOcontrol and headland management, exact timing of the control processes is achieved. Via GEOcontrol, the metering device is stopped automatically by entering the headland and started again at the beginning of the new pass. Therefore, overlaps are prevented, wear and tear is decreased and seeds up to 5% can be saved. Headland Management controls the soil working implement, the packer re-consolidation and the coulterbar
