Raise the Paddle Education today is delivered in an entirely new manner, with new tools, techniques, and teaching methods that increasingly don’t fit the conventions of 50-year-old school furniture. Their static, inflexible design can preclude the use of advanced teaching practices such as peer-to-peer and group participation. These highly interactive group learning experiences, which have overshadowed the decades-old lecture and listen style of learning, are mandated in the evolved, technologically driven working environment that students are preparing for. The core of this teaching approach requires classrooms designed with open, flexible floor plans, and highly mobile, comfortable furniture. Changes in teaching methods require changes in school facilities, particularly furniture. The new classroom furniture at Kennedy Catholic will be flexible enough to accommodate changing learning patterns and methods. It will replace the 50-year-old desks that are currently being used. It will be accessible for all students regardless of physical limitations. Your gift to tonight’s Fund-a-Need will ensure Kennedy Catholic can fulfill its commitment to providing a school classroom setting that promotes a 21st century learning environment. With your help, this year’s Fund-a-Need will support new classroom furniture. It is our goal to furnish as many rooms as possible. Your gift is a deeply meaningful way to support our mission in a direct, tangible and focused way. On behalf of all Lancers, current and future, our entire faculty and staff and our community, we offer our deepest and most humble thank you. Please plan to raise your paddle high, give generously tonight and help us achieve our goal! Your donation is 100% tax deductible. Gifts at the following levels are most appreciated: $10,000 • $5000 • $2500 • $1000 • $500 • $250 • $100

Chairmen’s Letter Dear Friends, Thank you for joining us at the 45th annual Kennedy Catholic KATCH Auction! Spring Fever is here! We are honored to be part of the Kennedy Catholic family and are so grateful for the amazing volunteers and school faculty for their time and effort to make this a hugely successful community event to benefit all of our students. This is sure to be a memorable evening. Through our daughter and our many wonderful experiences here, we have become “Lancers for Life” and wish to support Kennedy Catholic in any way we can. Personally, we are blessed by the amazing Mother Theresa Program Kennedy Catholic offers children with extra challenges in school because they learn differently. We are impressed with the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of our daughter and all the students at Kennedy Catholic. It’s truly an amazing school with incredibly dedicated and knowledgeable teachers and staff. This auction helps support many of the wonderful opportunities our students have here. At Kennedy Catholic, our students excel in academics, grow in their spirituality, engage in community service, lead in athletics and the arts, and develop meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime. We are blessed to have so much to celebrate. Tonight’s Fund-a-Need will help purchase new classroom furniture to replace our 50-year-old outdated furniture. The faculty is very excited about this much-needed improvement to our classrooms which will allow them to incorporate innovative, effective and collaborative teaching practices. Please be generous and raise your bid cards high to support this important upgrade as we seek to improve our students’ learning environment. We look forward to celebrating tonight with all our parents, alumni, and community friends at another amazing Kennedy Catholic Auction. Enjoy your evening and thank you for your continued support. Warm regards,

Todd and Janelle Reber

They have led a talented committee of dedicated volunteers listed in this catalog. With your help, this year’s Fund-a-Need will support innovative new classroom furniture. It is our goal to furnish as many rooms as possible. Auction Rules By bidding in the live or silent auction, each bidder agrees to these auction rules. 1. Upon entry each guest will be given a bid paddle. Each person issued a bid paddle assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising there from Kennedy Catholic High School, its elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction. Silent Auction: Write your bid number on the silent auction bid sheet next to the amount you wish to bid. You may not write in amounts; you must use the amounts listed on the bid sheet. No bidder may block access to the bid sheets. Place your bid and step back from the bid sheet. The bid number next to the highest bid amount will be declared the purchaser of that item. Guaranteed Bids: If you wish to guarantee your purchase of a particular item, write your bid number on the line at the bottom of the bid sheet designated “Guaranteed Bid”. By doing so, you agree to pay the “Guaranteed Bid” amount and that item is yours. Table Closing: All items on the silent auction tables may be bid upon until the tables are officially closed by the judges. Persons in process may complete writing their bid. In the event of a dispute, the closing judge or designated silent auction official will determine the winning bid. The official’s decision will be final. If there are two or more bidders actively bidding on an item at the time the table closes, they may notify a silent auction official and request a mini oral auction. Winning Bid: The highest bid written on the silent auction form, and designated by the silent auction official as the top bid, is a legal contract to purchase that silent auction item.

25

Auction Rules Live Auction: Bidders should be seated before the live portion of the auction begins. Raise your paddle high in the air, facing the direction of the auctioneer so the auctioneer can clearly see your bid number. After the last paddle has been raised, the auctioneer will announce the item SOLD and will move to the next item. A bid acknowledged by the live auctioneer is a legal contract to purchase the item; an auction official will bring you a form to sign acknowledging your purchase. In the event of a dispute between bidders, the auctioneer shall have sole discretion to determine the winning bid or to re-offer the item in dispute. 2. Kennedy Catholic High School has, in good faith, attempted to describe and catalog all items correctly, but all items are offered as is, where is. The school neither warrants nor represents, and in no event will be responsible for, the correctness of description, authenticity, authorship, provenance or condition of the items. No statement contained in the catalog or made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such a warranty, representation or assumption of liability. 3. Values set on items at the auction are only estimates and not warranted by the school for tax purposes or fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted. 4. KATCH reserves the right to withdraw or add any item from sale, without notice, prior to the call for bids. 5. Unless otherwise noted, all goods, services or certificates must be claimed and used within one year of the date of the auction. 6. Reservations, accommodations, events, and the like, must be mutually arranged upon with the donor unless otherwise noted. Tickets in travel packages are for coach class services unless otherwise noted. No refunds, for any reason, will be given for cancelled or unused events, travel packages and/or accommodations.

26

Auction Rules 7. All purchases are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds on items for any reason. No item may be returned to the donor. 8. All items must be removed from the school by the end of the auction, unless other arrangements have been made. 9. Any purchased item unclaimed after 30 days will become the property of the KATCH Office unless prior arrangements have been made. 10. A written or oral bid at KATCH constitutes a legal contract to buy the item. All sales are final. In case of disputes, the decision of the KATCH official is final. 11. KATCH and the auctioneer reserve the right to reject any bid which is a partial advance over the prior bid increment. 12. All items must be paid for the night of the auction. Payment by a successful bidder may be made no sooner than 30 minutes after the closing of a silent bid and no sooner than 10 minutes after the closing of a live bid. Payment may be made by cash/check or credit card. 13. Items may be removed from the building only by exhibiting a receipt from the KATCH Bank to security.

Live Auction 17 - Raise Your Paddle Education today is delivered in an entirely new manner, with new tools, techniques, and teaching methods that increasingly don’t fit the conventions of 50-year-old school furniture. Changes in teaching methods require changes in school facilities particularly furniture.
