A Note from Sam Reed
Athletic Director
this winter sports season I have a
challenge for each and every one of you. Be thankful for the opportunities that these student-athletes have this season. Sure, it’s more fun to be victorious, but high school sports goes beyond the wins and losses. Our coaches work long hours, often sacrificing family time, to teach and guide their teams. Our bus drivers ensure a safe and timely arrival everywhere we travel. Our cheer and band groups are a constant force of school spirit and pep. Our league provides us with top-level competition across the board, ensuring we are tested both mentally and physically. The officials and judges
allow us to compete with a safe and level playing field. The list goes on and on, to the point where it’s pretty remarkable how many different players are involved in a high school sports season. It’s that strength of the greater Kennedy Catholic community which has amazed me since the first day I walked into my office four years ago. In addition to the groups above, that community also includes our Booster Club – the engine behind this program booklet and so many of our programs that support our athletic department and our studentathletes. Their volunteer hours, as well as
financial support, goes a long way toward building that “championship culture” that we are striving for. If you are interested in playing a role in those efforts, I would encourage you to reach out to me or a member of the Booster Club board for ways in which you can help. I look forward to cheering on our Lancers together this winter season!

this year’s girls basketball team figures to be a young, hungry group that should show continual growth as the season progresses. with eight underclassmen and just two seniors, coach greg caldwell will lean on playmakers avery w. and lexi l. along with the leadership of natalie f. to guide the lancers into a strong npsl cascade division. after earning a berth in the district tournament last year, the girls will be looking to position themselves for a return appearance this season”

scouting report fast. energetic. exciting. that’s going to be this year’s boys basketball team in a nutshell. while they might be a bit undersized down low compared to other teams in our league, coach don hoffman has a group of high-energy players who are going to get after it on both ends of the floor. seniors chancellor h. and aj k. will look to lead a balanced scoring attack. fans will enjoy watching lancers run the court, play hard defense, and cast up shots from all directions.” sam reed Athletic Director

scouting report coach bobby brokenshire has something exciting in the works this season, running our a passionate group of wrestlers that are ready to make waves in the league and region this year. with a roster as large as we’ve seen in recent years, the level of competition in practice is going to lead to a sharp, deep varsity lineup. as the season progresses, i expect to see a number of lancers fighting to join returning state placer mateo d.l.p. at the tacoma dome in february.” sam reed Athletic Director

scouting report four years ago our gymnastics program had four girls in it. fast forward to this year and it’s remarkable the work head coach erin chapin has done to build the culture of the program. with a 2019-2020 squad more than 20 girls strong, the lancers figure to be a force at the top of the npsl standings. senior captain payton h. is one of the best all-around gymnasts in the league, while fellow captain hanna s. has continually improved over the course of her career. sam reed Athletic Director
