Dear Lancer Family,

This year, we specifically chose our theme of “Do Good Anyway” because we wished to remind our students that even though what one does today may be forgotten, unappreciated, or misunderstood, we are called to do good anyway. With so much upheaval and uncertainty in today’s world, withdrawing, focusing on one’s self or contributing negatively to society might often seem like an easier path. Yet, we believe that God expects us to be more, rise higher, and lift up those around us. The amount of good I saw our students do throughout the school year gives me pride in our community and hope that a better future awaits.

As part of our reaccreditation process through the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA), we revisited the school’s mission statement to better capture who we are and what we do at our core.

“It is the mission of Kennedy Catholic High School to cultivate a diverse community of learners who encounter Christ, pursue excellence, and lead with love.”

Throughout this issue of Lancer for Life, you will read about how this mission comes to life every day in our hallways and our community.

Thank you to the Lancer Community for the vast ways you support our students and our school. From the much-appreciated and vital monetary donations to the countless volunteer hours to the daily social and emotional support, every person in our community makes a difference.

May God bless you this summer and always.

Dear Friends in Christ, It is a joy and honor to reach out to you today. My name is Fr. Tom Belleque. I am the pastor of St. Anthony Parish in Renton and for the past three years, I have been the Dean of the South King County Deanery. As Dean, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Jenny Farrell and the incredible Campus Ministry staff at Kennedy Catholic High School. I love our Catholic schools – I love Kennedy Catholic. In our Catholic schools, we find a culture and a distinctly religious identity where we nurture a sound spiritual foundation for all our students. Catholic schools provide experiences and opportunities for our students to realize Jesus Christ as ever-present in their lives, inviting them to realize their best selves.

St. Irenaeus, a second-century bishop, once said: “The glory of God is man/woman (all of us) fully alive.” You see, God yearns for a dynamic relationship with us, and through this relationship, He seeks to draw out the very best version of ourselves. God is interested not only in our spiritual activities, but in every aspect of our lives: physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual.

A MESSAGE FROM FR. TOM BELLEQUE

“The glory of God is man/woman (us) fully alive” is an invitation to live life to the fullest. Isn’t that what we want for our Kennedy Catholic students? To be thriving physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually? Isn’t that the goal of a Catholic Education – to educate and develop the whole person, to truly help them become the very best versions of themselves, to be, “fully alive?"

I believe that one component of the full life is knowing that you belong - that you have a sense of community. To be fully alive, we need to have a strong sense of belonging. What I have experienced these past three years at Kennedy Catholic presiding at Masses with the freshman and sophomore classes and participating in seven of the nine SEARCH retreats is that strong sense of belonging from the moment they first step on this campus.

response, I pressed him further, “Tell me more.” He said, “Well, you see, Kennedy Catholic really is a family. When I first heard, ‘Welcome to the Lancer Family,’ I didn’t think it would be true. I thought it was just something people said – but it is true, I really feel that I belong.” As you know, that sense of family doesn’t just happen – it takes a lot of hard work and commitment to create an atmosphere where every student, family, staff member, and visitor can sense early on that they belong and are part of something incredible.

God does not stand down the road and call us to catch up. He meets us where we are and leads us step by step to whom He is calling us to become.

Following Mass with the freshman class at the end of their retreat, I asked one of my former St. Anthony students what he thought of his Kennedy Catholic experience thus far. Without missing a beat, he said, “It is not what I thought it was going to be.” Intrigued by his

Thank you for being part of the Lancer Family. Thank you to all of the students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni for your ongoing prayers and support that make Kennedy Catholic such an outstanding Catholic school and such a wonderful place for our students to become the best versions of themselves –fully human and fully alive - and completely capable and prepared for the next steps in their journey of faith.

In Christ,

ARCHBISHOP ETIENNE VISITS FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK

Thank you, Archbishop Etienne, for celebrating Mass with us this year for the Memorial of St. John Bosco during Catholic Schools Week! It was a blessing to have you back on campus and to engage with our students over coffee after Mass.

ARCHDIOCESE

LEADERSHIP

DINNER FOR CATHOLIC COMMUNITY

The Archdiocese Leadership Dinner is a tradition that we were fortunate to participate in once again this school year! Each Catholic school has the opportunity to send their student leaders to celebrate Catholic education, friendship, and connection with each other. It's not only a chance for our leaders to share what they love most about Kennedy Catholic High School, but to also learn about their peers and gain inspiration from the other Seattle area Catholic schools.

INTERNATIONAL RECRUITING AROUND

THE WORLD

President/Principal Matthew Mohs, Director of International Education Mariko Fujiwara, and CFO Rommel Buenafe traveled around the world to recruit new international students. They kept a busy schedule at education fairs, agency and parent meetings, various seminars, and even met with past and current students and families. At the end of their travels, they had visited Brazil, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. We look forward to welcoming new students from around the globe.

LANCER ALUMNI

Beginning high school online, my class and I were faced with a huge obstacle in building relationships with one another. Even though we were late to the jump, we have more than made up for lost time. Looking back on my experience, I am amazed by the growth, resilience, and leadership I have both experienced and witnessed, as well as the way people connect with one another. Throughout my time here, I have been able to grow as a leader with all the opportunities there have been to lead with love.

My favorite opportunity and experience was SEARCH.

SEARCH was a

doorway to connection with my classmates, myself, and my faith, which will forever be with each of us.

Lancer

PROUD TO BE A by SAMANTHA SMITH '24

After my own SEARCH experience, I was able to lead and serve as head leader for SEARCH. Each and every time, I witnessed friendships forming and people growing closer to each other in such a pure form.

In addition to the connection I found through retreats, I also met some of my best friends through Varsity Cheer. In everything we did here at Kennedy Catholic, there was an opportunity to find your people. Being a cheerleader at Kennedy Catholic requires dedication. We woke up at 6am for practice even when it felt impossible to get out of bed at that hour. But walking into the gym and being greeted by my teammates' smiling faces and energetic personalities made it all so worth it.

Among my favorite memories of Cheer are bus rides with us blaring music and ear-piercing screams singing to our favorite songs on the way to football games, and deep conversations on the way home. Together, we attended every football and basketball game without fail for the last four years and I loved every minute of it. My junior year I also spontaneously joined Lacrosse. Rather than rejecting my lack of experience, my teammates welcomed me with open arms. I look back and laugh now at how random it was to join a sport I knew nothing about, but I had no fear. I knew that I would be accepted by the Lancer Family.

With amazing experiences in sports and extracurriculars, I also had the best relationships with my teachers and classmates. This past year I formed connections in all my classes, but most notably my AP Calculus and Seattle U English 12. They both brought me so much laughter (and tears when it got hard) while I collaborated with fellow seniors who I never got to know before this year.

Over the last four years I have been able to grow into my true self with support from teachers, classmates, teammates, and friends. I am so blessed to have been able to grow and be a leader in the Lancer Community alongside my peers. The Lancer Family is guaranteed to leave a lasting impact on me and my classmates for the rest of our lives. I’m proud to be a Lancer for life. ◉

NEW LANCERS TO BRIDGE!

Summer 2023 came to an end as over 75 incoming freshmen and transfer students joined us on campus the first week of August to prepare for the transition to high school, build community, and set themselves up for success – socially, personally, and academically.

The opportunities for student leadership, academic challenges, and faith formation are abundant within the doors of our school, but some students simply didn't have the navigational capital to take that figurative step. Our program’s hope is to transition students successfully into our Lancer community so they can take advantage of the next four years.

Last summer, we had five sophomore leaders who attended BRIDGE that served as student leaders: Nico Angello, Emily Barbus, Desmond Davocol, Jeffrey Eng, and Matthew Nguyen. These students just wrapped up their freshman year and were eager to support our newest group of incoming students. We can’t wait to host our Summer BRIDGE Program this August under the leadership of Mr. Franco, Mrs. Fredricksen, and Ms. Soma, and our newest BRIDGE student leaders.

HELLO FROM YAKIMA ALOHA FROM HAWAI'I

Our Excalibur choir members spent Easter break on O'ahu, Hawai'i! A highlight included visiting the Pearl Harbor National Memorial, a moving day for our students. After rehearsing under some banyan trees in Honolulu, they also visited (and sang!) at the Capitol building, and Central Union Church. They also saw the statue of King Kamehameha I, Diamond Head, the Nu’uanu Pali lookout, and spent time at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

HALLÓ FROM ICELAND

A group of students, lead by science teacher Ms. McNulty, spent their Easter break adventuring around Reykjavik, Iceland. Students had the chance to explore present geothermal and volcanic activity. They also glimpsed the Northern Lights and walked across geysers. It was an unforgettable experience!

Over Easter break, Lancers volunteered their time to Yakima Valley Partners Habitat for Humanity in Yakima, WA. Students helped build two houses for families in need. We're very proud of our students for choosing to spend their break in service of others.

BONJOUR & HALLO FROM FRANCE & GERMANY

President/Principal Mr. Mohs led a group on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion by allied forces to liberate Europe during World War II. The group first toured Berlin, learning about what led to WWII, the atrocities committed at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, and the building of the Berlin Wall. The next three days were spent in Normandy, France touring the beaches and small towns, as well as attending the D-Day 80th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach in Colleville-sur-Mer with numerous surviving veterans of the war as well as US President Biden and French President Macron. The trip ended with two beautiful days in Paris and a glimpse of the 2024 Olympic staging. Très bon!

REFLECTIONS ON

Search

'24

This year, I was head leader for the Spring SEARCH retreat with Samantha Smith. We worked incredibly hard with our leader team and had a fantastic time. One of my worries going in

was being able to control a room full of kids, including many junior boys, but I think both Sam and I managed well. One memory that comes to mind was our bus ride from Kennedy Catholic out to camp. We had “organized” everyone in front of the gym and the group

ran the gamut of excited, nervous, checked out, and everything in between. We all got to go on the same bus and had a crazy, fun ride down. The driver was pumping music, and everyone was getting in good spirits. The trip was already a blast, and the retreat hadn’t even started.

I felt incredibly blessed and honored to lead this group of Lancers on the journey of SEARCH. They dove headfirst into the retreat and were incredibly attentive to the talks and traditions our leaders shared with them. When we got to Adoration on Friday night, it lasted three and a half hours. Insane! Students kept going to Reconciliation and I believe it was a very healing time for a lot of people. I remember seeing juniors absolutely sobbing into each other’s shoulders. I myself had multiple heartfelt conversations with other students on the retreat.

I saw God in every student and leader.

There is something so beautiful about a retreat like SEARCH: the normal societal norms, expectations, and divisions fall away, and love and community are free to move in.

At SEARCH, one can build connection in deeper and more beautiful ways. With such an intentional environment dedicated to building relationships with each other and God, the retreat is a beautiful opportunity. I saw connections building between so many SEARCHers and I saw so much growth and leadership in our leader team. When I saw the leaders working so well with their small groups and being respectful, kind, and fun with all the SEARCHers, I was inspired to build more intentional relationships and do my job to the best of my ability. I’m so grateful I got to work with these people and be part of such a formative experience. ◉

STARTING EVERY DAY WITH

MORNING PRAYER

Every school day begins with morning prayer led by students, faculty, coaches, and staff. We experienced many wonderful morning prayers this year and thought we would share one from a recently graduated senior.

VISITING PRIESTS AT MASS

Thank you to the following priests for serving 22 sacramental needs (Eucharist and Reconciliation) for the Lancer Family this year:

• Fr. Tom Belleque | St. Anthony (Renton)

• Fr. Mike Batterberry | Retired

• Fr. Sylvester Chanda | St. Anthony (Renton)

“Good morning, my name is Vyvy Nguyen. Please prepare yourself for prayer. This upcoming week is our Frosh Retreat. Three years ago, my class and I did a COVID-19 version of the two-day retreat. You can imagine what it looked like: masks, very small groups, and heavy restrictions on what we were allowed to do. Like most freshmen, I was reluctant to go and even participate. I didn’t know what to expect and was anxious about going out of my comfort zone. But the retreat gave me the opportunity to talk to more of my classmates, reflect on what I wanted the next four years to look like, and served as a key memory of my freshman year. Now that I’m a senior, I can confirm that everyone was right in saying that time goes by extremely fast. It’s only right if I also relay that message.

Let us pray; God, thank you for giving us the gift of life and community. Watch over the freshman as they navigate through the beginning stages of their high school journey, our sophomores as they continue to build and deepen friendships, our juniors as they face and persevere through many challenges, and our seniors as they wrap up their last few months at Kennedy Catholic. We pray for your constant protection over our school and guidance in our individual lives. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us.”

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:

WHAT I LEARNED ABOUT LOVE

During the Yakima Habitat for Humanity Easter break trip, 18 students and three faculty chaperones helped build two houses. They poured cement at one housing site and built and raised the walls at another. They also got to meet Habitat families and share a meal together. Each night of the service trip, students and faculty chaperones gathered for evening reflection and prayer. Here are several excerpts from sophomore Colleen Torgesen's reflection journal:

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS SERVICE IMMERSION TRIP?

I wanted to help others less fortunate than myself. I wanted to be productive while on break.

HAVE YOU EVER FELT CALLED IN A SPECIAL WAY BY GOD? WHY DO YOU THINK GOD WANTS YOU TO BE IN YAKIMA HELPING TO BUILD HOUSES THIS WEEK?

Yes, God is the reason I'm still here. He gives me air to breath and provides me with amazing friends, family, and teachers to guide me. I believe He wants me here to show love and help people other than my friends and family. I think He wants me to help others outside of the people I surround myself with.

HOW WILL THE WORK YOU WILL BE DOING BRING COMFORT TO OTHERS?

We're building a house to give to a family who will make the house a home filled with love!

IN LIGHT OF YOUR EXPERIENCE THIS WEEK, WHAT DID YOU LEARN ABOUT DIGNITY? ABOUT LOVE? ABOUT HOPE?

Love is everywhere. Love is in friends and teachers. Love is in laughter. Love is really all around, you just need to look for it.

LANCERS VENTURE FAR & WIDE

The Office of International Education team is identifying ways to support the continued growth and success of Kennedy Catholic High School. President/ Principal Matthew Mohs and CFO Rommel Buenafe ventured to new countries this year to bring awareness to new markets about our program for international students. Expanding into new markets will help us to adapt to changing economic trends and support the mission of diversifying our student body.

In March, Mr. Mohs attended several academic fairs to expand recruiting efforts in Brazil. He traveled to several cities including Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to attend education fairs and meet academic consultants.

In November, Mr. Buenafe traveled to Indonesia where a new Country Coordinator, Ms. Tika, has been appointed to help target students there. Indonesia’s economy is strong and with a growing middle class, families are interested in sending their children to study abroad with the U.S. being a preferred destination.

18 | Kennedy Catholic High School

My name is Hanamichi.

LEARNING ABROAD

I began my studies at Kennedy Catholic High School in August of 2022. I’m graduating in May this year. I am from Japan, and I decided to study abroad because I wanted to change myself, as I had been relying on my parents and home environment for my entire life. My goal was to become a strong person who could live on my own in a foreign country and culture.

I chose the United States as my study abroad destination because ever since I was a little kid, my dream has been to become a professional basketball player. I have always wanted to challenge myself and grow in the realm of American basketball. One of the reasons for this aspiration is my desire to acquire English skills that I believe will be necessary in society in the future.

Initially, it was difficult for me to fully understand conversations, American trends and slang. There

were times when I felt limited by the language barrier, but I was able to grow by having more opportunities to learn how to convey my ideas. I noticed music always playing everywhere I went. Knowing lyrics and singing the words was an opportunity to have a conversation and make friends.

I was able to take classes at Kennedy Catholic at the same level as the local students and was excited to join the basketball team. It was fun to experience the array of environments during the basketball season when we traveled to various schools for games. For accommodations, I stayed with relatives during the first year and then lived in a student dormitory the following year. I have many fond memories of the friends I met in the United States. I still can't forget the experience of staying at a friend's house in the summer and being treated like family, playing in the lake until I was tired, and sharing the hardships and joys of basketball.

Living independently in a foreign country was more challenging than I had anticipated. In addition to managing household tasks, I had to handle all aspects of daily life on my own, including time management and taking care of my emotional well-being. I came to the realization that the lifestyle I had

grown accustomed to in Japan was a sheltered one. Living away from home helped me develop a deep sense of appreciation for my family and friends that I may have missed had I not come to study abroad.

As the culmination of my time abroad, I have formally committed to play basketball at the collegiate level for Pierce College at Fort Steilacoom in the NWAC Division.

This decision marks a wonderful conclusion to my time at Kennedy Catholic which has helped me gain clarity on my thoughts and opinions, while also developing the autonomy to assert them. I have also learned to take proactive actions to achieve my goals. Through daily effort and challenges, I have realized the importance of clarifying the direction I should aim for and working towards it.

ADVENTURES IN

Culture

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TAKE OUR LANCER COMMUNITY ON A WORLDWIDE TOUR

Kennedy Catholic’s mission is to cultivate a diverse community of learners. This mission was beautifully showcased during Cultural Week. Various Cultural Fair booths displayed the different cultures represented

by our international education (IE) students within our school community. Tasting dumplings, Chinese calligraphy writing, sampling crunchy rice snacks from Vietnam and an origami paper fishing booth from Japan were fun and engaging activities.

The Cultural Assembly put a spotlight on fashion and dance. The IE Chinese boys practiced for many weeks to prepare the Dragon Dance, or “Wu Long” as it is known in Chinese. The traditional dragon

dance began as a ceremony for worshipping ancestors and praying for rain. It was later a form of entertainment, often performed during Chinese New Year. In Chinese culture, dragons symbolize wisdom, power, dignity, and fertility.

Two of our IE students who are living away from home, Ary K. and Paolo J., walked in the fashion show and also joined the Filipino American Student Union (FASU) for a traditional folk dance called the Tinikling.

The Cultural Assembly also allowed our IE students to walk as fashion models to showcase their national costumes: Áo Dài dress for Vietnam, Hanbok dress for Korea, and the Kimono for Japan.

This celebration is a favorite of our entire student body at Kennedy Catholic, espeically our IE students. Getting the opportunity to express

their heritage emphasizes the cultural richness and diversity of the Lancer Family! ◉

PASSION FINDING MY

When thinking about my time at Kennedy Catholic High School there are so many things that make me feel not only proud of all my accomplishments, but also thankful for the environment and support I received. I was really involved at Kennedy Catholic, from theatre, to softball, to Brand Teamnot to mention the many relationships I nurtured over the last four years. Thinking back on my experiences, I learned unique lessons from each activity I participated in and found a home in each place.

I was involved in the Arts even before attending Kennedy Catholic, and it was the first commitment I made to the school. I had always loved singing and acting and had always dreamed of being the star of a musical, and maybe even becoming the next Taylor Swift (my 5th grade dream). I started off acting in small roles my freshman year that were difficult to perform since they were over Zoom. But then I began to move into bigger roles, like playing Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music my sophomore year, which will always be a fond memory. It was a very demanding role vocally, and I had to work harder than I ever had to before.

I learned a lot about myself playing this role and I proved to myself that I can persevere through difficult situations, including self-doubt.

This led me to be able to land the lead role my senior year in the fall musical, Anne of Green Gables. I worked the

hardest I have ever worked to play Anne, and I succeeded in a way I truly once never believed I could. This is the biggest achievement in my high school career, and I will remember how hard I worked for it for the rest of my life.

I was also a part of the Varsity Fastpitch team for my upperclassman years. I have never been athletic, but I do have a great passion for fastpitch.

It’s hard for me to love something that I’m not good at, but I tried out anyway. I ended up making the team both years, but I continued to struggle. It was difficult to not want to give up, but at the end of the day, I knew that how hard I was working and the enjoyment I found within it was what mattered. Hard work did end up paying off! Learning about what a team is, to support my peers, and most importantly how to build confidence within myself were just a few of the skills I acquired while playing fastpitch at Kennedy Catholic, and I wouldn’t trade that experience for the world.

I was given the privilege to work on the Digital Marketing Manager’s

Brand Team my junior and senior year, and as the Marketing Intern this past spring, both of which gave me insight into what my future could hold. I was able to find that marketing is what I wish to do in my life. I intend to study Business Marketing at San Diego State University and to make my dreams of being successful in the marketing world a reality. None of this would have been possible without the opportunity to find my calling on the Brand Team and as the Marketing Intern, and I am so glad I put myself out there and applied for these positions. I never would have known that this was my calling otherwise.

But I didn’t just find my passion at Kennedy Catholic, I found my people. I have made the best friends here. I found a group of girls that mean everything to me. They lift me up when I am low and keep me grounded when I lose sight of myself. I owe so much of my joy and happiness to these friends who have shown me what true female friendship looks like. Yes, I made close friends, but the Lancer Family as a whole made me feel proud to go to school here. From the spirit and fun activities, to the faculty and staff, I found a home here. I found mentors in teachers - they truly showed they cared for me. This is what makes Kennedy Catholic so special. There is no other school I would have rather attended. Being a Lancer has been so much greater than I could have ever imagined, and I am so glad I am now a Lancer for life. ◉

FORTY YEARS OF UNWAVERING DEDICATION

Did you say Frances McKamey? We LOVE her!" This phrase has been said numerous times in the past 40 years, as Frances McKamey is our incredible Elementary Band Director. She has been a Kennedy Catholic staple for four decades, devoting herself to cultivating meaningful connections to broaden our school community. In May, we had another successful Elementary Band Festival, which welcomed young musicians from the community who participated in the program. This event would not be possible every year without her. Thank you, Ms. McKamey, for your unwavering dedication. We're not us without you!

BUILDING UP STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

This year, our community invested in a new Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for our students. Brigid Freitag, the new coordinator, has made a significant impact with her knowledge and dedication. As a former Division 1 strength coach, Coach Freitag brings a wide range of experience from the highest levels, and her connection to our athletes is a vital part of their growth and development. She has transformed the weight room and added several new upgrades that our athletes can utilize as they prepare for competition. While working with the many sports programs that Kennedy Catholic provides, Coach Freitag emphasizes enhancing athletic performance, bringing awareness to injury prevention, and building team chemistry. She spends countless hours in the weight room, on the field or in the gym, all to ensure our athletes receive the best instruction possible. The future is bright with Coach Freitag overseeing the Strength and Conditioning Program at Kennedy Catholic!

SHINING A LIGHT ON

Student Artwork

STUDENT POETRY

TWO, THREE, AND FOUR by Shinji Hoover ‘24

Woke up late, first class has a test

Stuck on problems two, three, and four

Here I am, trying my absolute best Today is just going to be one big test

Shoe’s keep untying, next class is a bore

Done with second period, now onto the rest

Teachers assign us a hundred more chores

Schools now out, and I’m willing to bet

That all my worksheets could cover an entire floor

But I do good anyway, no matter how much I fret

I must move on from problems two, three, and four.

ROUNDEL by Nate Decker ‘24

Through the year we embrace, the echoes we face, “Do Good Anyway,” our guiding theme. Throughout halls decorated with laughter’s grace, We find our strength in this sacred space.

These desks are where knowledge gleams, Do good, despite the doubts and race, Success is the driving goal, as we all scheme.

Past the chaos we see the light to chase, Filled with laughter is “kennedycatholicmemes”

For in doing good, we rise to the band playing the fight song with bass, Together, hand in hand we stay on track with our own pace

LOVE’S BALLET by Jarod Combs ‘24

In the circles of kindness, where love ricochets

People like us say, “Do good anyway,”

Where food resides in contrast with croquettes and circles of kindness, where love ricochets

We still embrace the motto, “Do good anyway,”

We throw joy and love around like ballet

But sometimes all we do is stray

We say love is like a cabaret

But it isn’t true because our love stays at bay

Just like how flowers are found in bouquets

In the circles of kindness, where love ricochets

IMPULSES by Manu Collins ‘24

Temptation has often led us astray

Driftwood crashing upon the shores

But we promised to do good any way

Drifting, would you help us pave the way

The big blue vastness leaving us sore

At last, the grey skies have gone away

The atlas has led us through rough pours

Wind blows and the trees sway

Absorbing in nature we love and adore

Take heading and set helm to belay

Temptation used to lead us astray

DO GOOD ANYWAY by Ary Karamihan ‘24

Kindness is never a loss

Society poisons our cage

Into thinking that all is without cause

Kindness is never a loss

Evil sets the stage

Yet we should destroy our cross

Using love and goodness to engage

Our despondency we should toss

A fight against evil we should wage

Share compassion through the world across,

Because kindness is never a loss

$22.9 MILLION AWARDED IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE CLASS OF 2024!

BACCALAUREATE MASS

WITH FR. DOLEJSI

Family, friends, faculty, staff, and the Class of 2024 celebrated Baccalaureate Mass on Friday, May 31 in the Goodwin Gymnasium. Chase Brockenbrough '24, Senior Class President, offered the Welcome Address and Rae Williams '24 gave the Baccalaureate address. Fr. Bryan Dolejsi inspired the Class of 2024 in his homily when he said, “If there’s anything you remember from my homily, it’s relationships! I couldn't stop thinking about the musical Wicked. In it, there’s a great quote: 'because I know you, I have been changed for good.'” This annual and sacred tradition kicked off Graduation Day with the last time the Class of 2024 shared Eucharist together. What a joyous and special day!
