olidays are filled with favorite foods, family traditions, and fun. However, it can also be a busy time of year with worries about how to stay healthy. Here are some tips for healthy holiday cheer: •
Stick to your normal routine and don’t skip meals to save room for later.

Make most of your own meals. Stock up on items that let you create delicious, filling, and nutritious meals quickly and easily.

Enjoy and savor every bite. Research has shown that we feel fuller with less food when we eat mindfully.

Be mindful of little tastes all day long. That piece of candy offered by a coworker, the “taste test” of the cookies you just baked, or those samples at the grocery store can add up to extra calories before you even realize it. Before a big holiday meal, drink
water or eat a hydrating snack, such as a small serving of veggies and hummus. When you’re hydrated and not hungry, you’ll be less likely to overindulge. •
Scale down portions of appetizers and serving pieces; try using shot glasses for appetizers or bite-size desserts.

Enjoy the party fare, but don’t graze. Survey your options first, then fill your plate with lots of vegetable and fruit options. Once you’ve served yourself, move away from the table.

If you’re the chef at home, make sure there are lots of delicious and healthy options like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables on the table. Consider including more vegetable dishes such as snap peas with roasted eggplant dip or roasted Brussels sprouts.

Instructions: Melt chocolate over double boiler. Spread melted chocolate on a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle remaining ingredients on top and press slightly. Freeze for about 10 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces. Enjoy!

Instant Pot
Green Bean Casserole Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil • 2 ½ cups mushrooms, sliced • 1 teaspoon onion powder • ½ teaspoon salt • 3 tablespoons dry sherry • 1 14-16-ounce package frozen French-cut green beans • ½ cup low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth • ¼ cup heavy cream • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped • ½ cup French-fried onions

Instructions: 1. Using sauté mode, heat oil in a multicooker. Add mushrooms, onion powder, and salt. Cook, stirring until the mushrooms have released their liquid, about 6 minutes. Add sherry and cook until mostly evaporated, about 1 minute. Stir in green beans and broth. Turn off sauté mode. Close and lock the lid and cook on high pressure for 3 minutes. Carefully release the pressure manually. 2. Whisk cream, flour, and thyme together in a small bowl. Stir into the green bean mixture and return the multicooker to sauté mode. Cook, stirring until bubbling and thickened for 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer to a serving dish and top with French-fried onions.
