Oneblood Blood Drive At Shalimar UMC, we are always looking for ways to serve our community with the love of Christ. One way we do that is by partnering with Oneblood to donate blood. Oneblood’s Big Red Bus will be on campus to receive donations from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. on Sunday, November 12. Online appointments are encouraged, but not required. Visit oneblood.org/donate-now to schedule an appointment using sponsor code 20789.

All Saints Day Welcome to All Saints’ Day! Today’s worship services will include a special moment to honor those who have lost a loved one in the past year.

Good of the Church Laity Sunday Last Sunday’s worship services were led by our Laity to give our Pastors a day to rest. Thank you to all who served in worship!

Offering Moment Teenage Gift Card Ministry Hundreds of families joined us for Fall Festival last Sunday evening and experienced the love of Christ through the Trunk or Treat in the parking lot and the family-friendly activities in the FLC! Such an impactful community outreach doesn’t happen by accident but only through your generosity to give of your time to serve, your talents to decorate trunks, and your resources by either donating candy or giving financially through the church’s general fund. Thank you for your generosity and your willingness to reach our community with the love of Christ through events like this!

Did You Know? The Bread House receives weekly donations of lettuce and other produce from the Culinary Arts program at Northwest Florida State College. The produce is hydroponically grown (water and nutrients only--no dirt involved) and is harvested by students in the school’s Autism Awareness program.

Beginning this Sunday, ALL of God’s children (K – 5th grade) are invited to worship alongside their families and church family during the 11:07 a.m. Freedom Service. Not only will this give the children an opportunity to observe the importance and joy of corporate worship, but also experience God through acts of praise and worship such as: the greeting, songs of praise, prayer, and a special children’s moment with Sarah Hicks, Children’s Director. After the children’s moment, the children and volunteers will exit to continue worship (Children’s Church) in the children’s new worship space. The children may be picked up from that room after service. Let us join in upholding to our baptism vows to partner with families as they nurture their child’s faith journey.

Through the years, one of the foundational pleas of the Prayer Team has been that “Our church would forever be a House of Prayer.” With that as our inspiration, we would like to present our Congregational Prayer Focus Plan for November. The November and December Prayer Focus will be available in the Sanctuary Narthex and in the FLC. They can also be downloaded from the church webpage. This week we are praying for: All those who have lost loved ones over the past year and for our All Saints’ Day worship celebration. The Youth Choir Spaghetti Lunch fundraiser for next year’s Choir Tour. The Charge Conference to be held at Mary Esther UMC on November 5. Jim Brantley, Shalimar UMC Prayer Team Coordinator

It’s that time of year when Daylight Savings ends and we “fall back” by enjoying an extra hour of sleep! Remember to set those clocks back an hour on Sunday, November 5.

The festivities of October brought so much joy to our friends and volunteers. We love to celebrate all that life has to offer.

If you want to be part of the love and joy of our respite program as a volunteer, please contact Leigh Rice. We would be happy to have you join us. Our next volunteer training will be Wednesday, November 8, at 12:30 p.m. in the Cross Corner Fellowship Hall.

We will be “decking the halls” on campus after lunch on November 26! All are welcome to come and participate in decorating the Family Life Center, Sanctuary, Cross Corner, and the Church office for the Advent season.

The holiday season is a time when we look for ways to love and serve others just like Jesus did. One of the ways we do this at Shalimar UMC is through Thanksgiving Blessing Bags. These bags invite our congregation to collect specific food items to bless families in our community with a special Thanksgiving meal that they may not be able to provide by their own means. The bags, with an accompanying flyer specifying the items to purchase, will be available to pick up beginning next Sunday, October 22. Please return your bag of items to the Bread House on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays between 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., no later than Friday, November 17.

Note These Upcoming Things! Nov. 5th - Kids Moment starts in Freedom Worship! See Sarah Hicks for details on how your kid can participate.
