Thank you to Live The Life and FSU for their partnership in this class!
Offering Moment ADVENT OFFERING At this time every year we intentionally set aside the desire to receive what we want and find ways to give to the needs of others in our community. One way we do that is through the Advent Offerings. This year we are giving to local non-profits: Children In Crisis, Embrace Florida Kids, Destin Harvest, & Shelter House. More information about these programs is listed below. You can designate your gift to the Advent Offerings by giving in your usual way – by check or online – and using “ADVENT OFFERING” in the memo line.

Articles & Announcements DID YOU KNOW? The SUMC Missions & Outreach Committee connects with many agencies in our local community. One of those agencies is One Hopeful Place. This is a ministry for our homeless to go during those cold freezing nights to be warm, fed, and given the opportunity to wash clothes and bathe. One Hopeful Place currently has a need for can goods, rice, and paper products. If you are interested in donating to this cause, please reach out to Ms. Sherry Jones, Community and Public Relations Director at 850-376-3509.
Hello everyone! Thank you to all who made the Thanksgiving JOYFUL for our friends and guests. We had such a nice day, and I am thankful for all the delicious food, and our Jamily (Joyful Place Family)! If you are volunteering tomorrow, please give Eric a Big HUG as it will be his last day with us. He and his wife are moving to be closer to their daughter. New Signup.com invitations have just been sent to include dates until the end of the year, so please use Signup.com, respond to this email, or sign up in person at JP. This ministry would not be possible without those who volunteer. Joyful times are ahead! Our Volunteer Christmas Party will be held at Shalimar Point Country Club, Monday, December 11th at 5:00. Please let me know if you can attend and a big thank you to Pat Gross for hosting the event for us. I’m headed off for the BIG DAY- 3 more days until the wedding! Love you ALL!
Through the years, one of the foundational pleas of the Prayer Team has been that “Our church would forever be a House of Prayer.” With that as our inspiration, we would like to present our Congregational Prayer Focus Plan for November. The November and December Prayer Focus will be available in the Sanctuary Narthex and in the FLC. They can also be downloaded from the church webpage. This week we are praying for: • Continue to pray for Israel. May we all be in prayer for the nation of Israel and the ongoing war occurring there. Ask God for His protection for the people and that peace would come quickly. • Pray for the upcoming Chancel Choir Christmas Musical and for the Children’s “Parents Night Out.” • Continue to pray for financial provision for SUMC.
Shalimar UMC is joining the parade! Come out and support our float in the annual Fort Walton Beach Christmas Parade on Monday, December 4, at 6:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “What does Christmas mean to you?” To us, Christmas means the arrival of Jesus Christ, so our float will be themed around the nativity! Email Dawn Rozofsky (dawn@shalimar-umc.org) or Sarah Hicks (sarah@ shalimar-umc.org) with any questions.
Keep an eye out for the Advent Mission Box flyers in the Sanctuary Narthex and FLC Lobby this Sunday. This annual activity organized the SUMC Missions & Outreach Committee provides us the opportunity to gift those families and individuals served by the Bread House and Blessings for Children ministries. Here’s what you do: • Get a box and decorate it if you want. Then, attach the Advent Calendar we’ve provided here. • Everyday add one of the items listed on the Advent Calendar and check it off. Whatever amount you can donate is appreciated! • When your box is complete, return it to the Bread House on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday between 9:00 a.m. and noon.
