Missions Moment

Children In Crisis (CIC) is one of the mission areas supported by Shalimar Church. Children in Crisis, Inc., a non-profit 501(C) (3) charity was established to raise and manage funds to build, staff, and operate “The Children’s Neighborhood”, a residential style foster care neighborhood. The Children’s Neighborhood was built and over the years has provided a loving, nurturing environment for over one thousand children removed for abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect.

Children In Crisis is in need of volunteers to work in the office one day a week. If you are interested in this opportunity to serve, please contact Dakota Scott at phone number: 850-8644242 or email: dakotascott@childrenincrisisfl.org.

Are you passionate about helping people feel welcome and enjoy themselves over a delicious meal? If so, consider serving on the Hospitality Team during the weekly fellowship time at Wednesday night dinner and Sunday morning brunch. Contact Chef Heyward McKenzie during the fellowship times for more information.

If Fellowship Dinner is not on your plate, then we have other opportunities! God has designed us with a unique combination of gifts, passions, and life experiences to spread the Gospel. Let us know which areas of ministry you want to serve in by completing an Every Member In Ministry (EMIM) form at shalimar-umc.org/emim.

Thank you, Transition Team!

As you know, the business here at Shalimar does not stop. With Brad’s departure last month, there have been many shoes that needed to be filled quickly. Thanks to our transition team, that was able to happen pretty quickly. We want to thank Tracy Mank as she has been doing an amazing job stepping in for Upward as their leader, Also want to thank Charlie Curry as he has been great in stepping in for the director of Chancel Choir and Traditions Lead. Thank you to Ben Savage as well as has done a wonderful job in stepping in for logistics,. We thank Laurel Tovrea and Robin Baugh for being a part of this transition as well. your work in ministry is greatly appreciated and we thank you.
