Reuven Rivlin, President of Israel

Dear Friends, At Shalva we are always celebrating changed lives, and bringing hope and love to children with disabilities and their families. This year, Shalva’s wonderful work was significantly magnified in scope and impact as a result of our move to the new Shalva National Center. I am humbled by the incredible support and friendship with which we have been met over the past twenty-six years. When our son Yossi was injured at the age of eleven months, we could have never dreamed that seven years later he would break through his barriers of darkness and silence, and miraculously learn to communicate via sign language and speech. Remembering her desperate prayer from years before, a promise that if G-d would help so would we; my wife Malki said, “It’s payback time.” We established Shalva and it developed quickly. Today, with a staff of over 250 professionals and an additional army of volunteers, we work to help Shalva’s children and families find the support, education, therapy, and hope that they need to flourish. At Shalva our everlasting mission is a journey of realizing dreams. Our genesis is the quiet dream of a struggling mother, our daily work is realizing the dreams of each child in our care to achieve his or her fullest potential, and our legacy is the fulfillment of Israel’s dream to be a more advanced and inclusive society. Thank you for joining us on this incredible journey. With heartfelt gratitude,
Kalman Samuels Founder and President, Shalva

Music also serves as a motivational tool that improves social skills and elicits a powerful bond among those who create and listen to it together. Music therapy is integrated into each of Shalva’s early intervention, educational, and recreational programs and is adapted to suit each stage of development. The Shalva Band performs by invitation at cultural venues and dignitary events several times a week. The band inspires crowds with its musical repertoire and charm, and continues to impact inclusion within Israeli music culture.
