01 Haze Sail Transforming Haze Filtering Building Envelope

Summary This project is a building envelope that can transform into a haze filtering device. The focus of this project is the transboundary haze that affects especially Singapore; it is an environmental phenomenon that endangers public health and causes negative economic impact every year. The goal is to find a specific solution for Singapore that hopefully can help to minimise the impact of the problem in the region.

`

What is Haze? Haze, is an atmospheric phenomenon of polluted air. It is accumulation of dust, smoke and other pollutant particles in the air which obscure the clarity of the atmosphere, lower visibility level and detrimental effects on the human body.

Depucation system Haze is actually heavier than air, so one of the reasons why haze can become a transboundary issue is because haze stays close to the ground and does not enter the higher layers of the atmosphere. The height of the haze as a cloud that the density depends on the surface temperature. As a result, on land the height can be 1-2 km depending if its day or night because during day time the surface temperature is high. However, over the sea the height is relatively stable and its actually much lower and its below 1km height. Since the water surface is more stable than land, it stable not only during night but also during the day with gave us an important exit. The additional exit is the heaviness of the haze, so I we filter one layer off the remaining layer of the haze simply drop and go down so instead of creating one boundary that filters the air, if we can repeat and create a several boundaries behind it, it can basically shave off layers one by one from the haze so in that way we are able to filter the whole haze in the end. Higher layer drop down 10M 10M 10M

Haze

Site Analysis Southeast Asia has been suffering from the haze pollution since 1997. These haze events have caused adverse health and economic impact on several countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The problem flares up every dry season, in varying degrees. The haze is keep happening even the government tried to prevent it. The haze is caused by illegal agricultural fires due to industrial-scale slash-and-burn practices in Indonesia. These practices attributed by companies and individual farmers, which remove vegetation to make way for plantations of palm oil, pulp and paper.Fire is the cheapest and fastest method to clear land in preparation for planting. Fire is used to clear the plant material left over from logging or old crops.

Basically my proposal is to use the design element into a multifunctional unit meaning that if they're not filtering the air it can be use as a wind power generator on a building skin. these diagrams show the designing of the roof that without the units and with the units And the units will be move to the roof through a railing system. And became the wind power generator to produce electric power increasing the economy ability to the investment of this project.

Reclaimed Land

Population Density

Singapore is a small island and it had already reclaimed 30% of its total land area since independence. Marina Park

The government plan to reclaim the southwest side of the country for Tuas Mega port, Which relocate all the container ports of Singapore. So I intent to redefine the place as a port that not only for container and industry, but also as a multifunctional port which will also be the terminal for purifying units.

Terminal Port

The port will be separate in four part which is the terminal port, container terminal, central park and business district. The terminal will locate in the middle of the port which including Cruise Terminal, Unit control tower, MRT Station, Hotel, Convention Center, and Shopping Mall. The building will be a basic infrastructure hub for future transformation of Tuas Mega port.

Summary This project is about rebuilding a current art musuem, which is located in Taichung. The aim is turn the place into a museum that not only for paints and sculpts, but also a stage for performing artists.

Site Analysis During holiday and weekends, there are many performing arts activities around the site. Additionally, the site was surrounded by many high buildings. Even so, the area still has a park and some open spaces nearby. Otherwise, there are only apartments and shops around the site. The Places Around the site do not have enough places to run the events. The artist needs a regular place to work and performing.

Concept The concept is aim to Combine performance art and fine art.By creating a landscape architecture, the activities in the plaza will easier to be notice. The plaza in middle of the building have many stages for performer, it can also become a space for flee market. The space will let unscheduled performing art became a scheduled art events. It aslo increase the number of visitor by bringing the crowd to the museum.

03 Parasite Architect's firm design

Professor Deng-Yao Chang Year 2 Design Studio Course Architecture Design 4 [may - june,2014] Individual Project Type Housing+Office Location taichung, taiwan Software Sketchup, Autocad, Photosop, Illustrator, V-ray Summary This project is about creating an architect's frim & house. The concept of parasite means that the building is supported by the extension part of the concrete building beside. Therefore, the ground floor could become an open space for the community.

10

Site Analysis

Concept The concept of the project is extend the structural framework of the building beside to become the main structure. After that, seperate the needed space of firm and house as units and putting them into the framework then. Therefore, the building can emerge as the new space units are added to the origin structural framework. Beside that, the ground floor became an open space for the community.

Transparent Ceilling

faded 2nd market of Taichung

the glass ceilling let nature lights splash into the transition area. so the area would be more brightness and more active.

Balcony Users could get more outdoor activity in the backyard. the area won't be interrupt by the traffic.

11 Crowded traffic the site is located in front of the 2nd market of Taichung, which is in the old central district of Taichung. The place is faded because of urban planning and aging population.Even though, the road in front of the site is still the main road for the district. The site is surrounded by aged buildings that aren't complete. Therefore, we can see the exposed reinforcement.

Entrance Area architecture lift up to make the ground floor remian more open space. It created a little garden to relief from the crowded traffic.

Staircase & Lift The outdoor staircase & lift used to split up the entrance of residents & office.

Location Nantou, taiwan Software Rhinoceros, Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator, V-ray Summary The concept of this project is to re-

define the boundary between the factory and surrounding environment. Recreate a suitable environment for PCG factory and the residents.

Site

Concept we set the show room as our center point, because this space combine with two kind of function, exhibiting the products and leisure. We divide those function into sport space / factory, lab, machinery / office /learning center. And then integrate into this shape. The following diagrams are our imagination of our SHOWROOM / SPORT SPACE / WORK SPACE LEARNING SPACE. We put the showroom / sport space and leisure space near the villages, experimental lab near the main entrance, restaurant near the office. Also, we create open view which is open to the whole area. People can see into the showroom easily. We combine all these units with a running track. Through running track, the shoes developer can observe how it works and it creates a nice integrating circulation.

Nantou

+ The site is in Taiwan Nantou County. We started to analyze the surroundings of this site. First, we found out that there are lots of residential, factories, shops including Zhongxing Village and Central Taiwan Innovation Campus. Zhongxing Village is a village which every family has their own garden. As a developing area, it's full of challenges and very potential. Second, we found out that there are lots of governmental institution placed near this site, including Nantou County Office and the library of Taiwan history museum. Under these two circumstances, we found out that this area happen to be very nice but it lacks of public open leisure space. So our strategy is to open up some of the area to share with the citizen here, for example, the landscape, basketball field.
