Palestine

Palestine and Israel, a country or two? The ongoing conflict between Palestinian and Israeli has began since 1948. Since the border between Israel and Palestine built, Palestinian are struggling under the long-time frustration, polarization, and diversity. Music is the way for Palestinians to express their emotion from the trauma, and connect to the world. It is also a resource that the Israel Government cannot easily block out from the physical border. This research is trying to use music as a media to find out the possibility of coexistence of Palestinian and Israeli, eventually to destruct the invisible border between people.

Palestinian music is always a media for Palestinian to express their emotion for long time sagregated and occupied by Israel. Beside that, it is also a culture for Palestinian and Israeli to share and enjoy the music. Although the music is mainly about using music as a ‘weapon’, or a media to resistant and express their emotions like frustration, polarization and diversity. Beside that, the identity formation and reformulating their negative profiling in a positive way. It is also proved the possibility of coexistence( Palestinian and Israeli), through music and the party. The topic here is trying to create a space for everyone to enjoy the music together, from that, forgetting the identity and nationality. Breaking the spiritual border between people, and prove the possibility of coexistance of different culture.

Finally destruct the invisible border between people.

Summary Pavilion Surge is not only expected to furnish a place for high-class surfing tournament but also hybrid with the existing tourism infrastructure and culture background nearby, which would make Ichinomiya a more attractive place for tourists from metropolises and surfers all over the world. As an Olympic heritage, contributes back to local communities.



The project started with a rethinking of the typical structure in surfing tournament that a temporary prefabricated stand on the beach faced the ocean, which only provided a dull visual experience, meanwhile left few cultural or economic profits for local communities. 

Athletes Staff/Journalists Visitors

Event Circulation During the period of professional tournaments and annual festivals, the pavements can be easily separated to different circulation for athletes, journalist and common audience, owing to the consideration of security and organization.

The Surge Pavilion, therefore, tried to come up with a permanent structure that offers an active tournament experience by simulating the dynamic balance of surfing to the pavilion on the coast. The structure is smooth and unified as an entire piece, opening to the surrounding culture and landscape environment. Ramps, stairs and waving surface and stands mingle together, offering multiple alternatives for the pathway, which similar to the multiflow figures in surfing.

PROGRAM The main entrance get into the exhibition space and the surfer can directly get into the changing room from beach.

05 Haze Sail Transforming Haze Filtering Building Envelope Professor Matyas Gutai Tran-structure Design Studio

Subject Feng Chia University Architecture Design 9 & 10 (Design Thesis) Individual Work

Type Urban Environment

Site Location Tuas, Singapore

Software Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Autocad, Photoshop, Illustrator, Artlantis

Summary This project is a building envelope that can transform into a haze filtering device. The focus of this project is the transboundary haze that affects especially Singapore; it is an environmental phenomenon that endangers public health and causes negative economic impact every year. The goal is to find a specific solution for Singapore that hopefully can help to minimise the impact of the problem in the region.

`

What is Haze? Haze, is an atmospheric phenomenon of polluted air. It is accumulation of dust, smoke and other pollutant particles in the air which obscure the clarity of the atmosphere, lower visibility level and detrimental effects on the human body.

Depucation system Haze is actually heavier than air, so one of the reasons why haze can become a transboundary issue is because haze stays close to the ground and does not enter the higher layers of the atmosphere. The height of the haze as a cloud that the density depends on the surface temperature. As a result, on land the height can be 1-2 km depending if its day or night because during day time the surface temperature is high. However, over the sea the height is relatively stable and its actually much lower and its below 1km height. Since the water surface is more stable than land, it stable not only during night but also during the day with gave us an important exit. The additional exit is the heaviness of the haze, so I we filter one layer off the remaining layer of the haze simply drop and go down so instead of creating one boundary that filters the air, if we can repeat and create a several boundaries behind it, it can basically shave off layers one by one from the haze so in that way we are able to filter the whole haze in the end. Higher layer drop down 10M 10M 10M

Haze

Site Analysis Southeast Asia has been suffering from the haze pollution since 1997. These haze events have caused adverse health and economic impact on several countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. The problem flares up every dry season, in varying degrees. The haze is keep happening even the government tried to prevent it. The haze is caused by illegal agricultural fires due to industrial-scale slash-and-burn practices in Indonesia. These practices attributed by companies and individual farmers, which remove vegetation to make way for plantations of palm oil, pulp and paper.Fire is the cheapest and fastest method to clear land in preparation for planting. Fire is used to clear the plant material left over from logging or old crops.

Basically my proposal is to use the design element into a multifunctional unit meaning that if they're not filtering the air it can be use as a wind power generator on a building skin. these diagrams show the designing of the roof that without the units and with the units And the units will be move to the roof through a railing system. And became the wind power generator to produce electric power increasing the economy ability to the investment of this project.

Container port New Container Port

Reclaimed Land

Population Density

Singapore is a small island and it had already reclaimed 30% of its total land area since independence. Marina Park

The government plan to reclaim the southwest side of the country for Tuas Mega port, Which relocate all the container ports of Singapore. So I intent to redefine the place as a port that not only for container and industry, but also as a multifunctional port which will also be the terminal for purifying units.

Terminal Port

The port will be separate in four part which is the terminal port, container terminal, central park and business district. The terminal will locate in the middle of the port which including Cruise Terminal, Unit control tower, MRT Station, Hotel, Convention Center, and Shopping Mall. The building will be a basic infrastructure hub for future transformation of Tuas Mega port.
