TEDxITB BRANDING, WEBSITE DESIGN, PRODUCT DESIGN Paradigm is a choice. There is never a linear solution in every situation. There is always a choice of something—even if it’s difficult. We are free to choose and control how we view the things around us, if we let our mind think ‘the other way(s) around’. And choosing our paradigm is the base or fundamental of all our actions. What is good? And what is bad? Babakan Ciparay is a sub-district in Bandung City, West Java Province. Today, Babakan Ciparay is densely populated.

There’s a lack of greenery that should be able to support the lives of users in the area. The site is located at Sakura Hegar street, this area is close nearby the Pasir Koja Street. This street is known for their recycled and used wood craftsmen which has the potential to be used as the main material for the design of this house.

The user of this house are a young couple who are close to current issues, and really love cycling with family. This house is

a bespoke eco-friendly design for homeowners who wanted a space which would sit harmoniously within the landscape and work with nature, rather than against it. Things like sunlight and wind are seen as fundamental parts of the design that can help to make a sleek and energy efficient design in this Omah Tilas.

BUILDING PLAN

Ministry of Public Works & Housing | 2020

During the COVID-19 pandemic, office building employers, owners and managers, and opera-

tions specialists were force to create a safe and healthy workplace for workers and clients. As a government building, this ministry of public works & housing has to evaluate the building and their interior before resuming their occupancy.

To increase every employee top-quality work, Ministry of Public Works and Housing conduct-

ing a big renovation to the office in the main building in order to create a top-quality and strict protocol office space. The lines between work modes blurred in response to the open plan, creating little distinction between personal focus space and collaborative and social areas. This will certainly change following the pandemic. Social spaces will continue operating as a destination for respite and relaxation. However, the boundaries between personal and shared space will again become more distinct. The workstation in the Ministry of Public Works & Housing office will be more focused and a bit more private with a greater focus on user control and comfort. Higher partitions and clever space division utilizing flexible products will increase a user’s feelings of well-being, which is just as important as the physical cleaning of the environments we will occupy.

COVID-19 DESIGN GUIDELINES Seating Arrangement to be at least 1 meter away at the desk/work area. One person must have one computer and is prohibited from taking turns. Each work desk or cubicle needs a 160 cm bulkhead to protect staff from doplet splashing. For cubicle excitation which is less than 160 cm in height, it needs to be added from acrylic material to 160 cm. Employee circulation is attempted one-way circulation and if the area is not possible then the lack of circulation makes face-to-face. For cubicles with side partitions, the distance between cubicles is at least 1.2 meters separated by a circulation line.

ELEVATED OUTDOOR ROOFTOP GARDEN Ministry of Public Works & Housing | 2020

Located on the Ministry of Public Works and Housing upper floor, 18th level to be exact, this

project was designed to create a functional communal space that works as a rooftop garden overlooking Jakarta’s city skyline.

The rooftop was planned to be a semi-outdoor meeting room area, including a stage where

a band or community can play music. The current existing bar table is maintained to decrease the budget for the renovation. A lightweight sheet provides a waterproof layer on the roof, and can also fold down to create additional weather protection around the perimeter. Covered with material that can be opened/closed at any time. This material is translucent, creating interesting lighting effects in the early evening. The side walls are then covered with glass material and closed with blinds. The large plant pots are maintained, while the small ones are removed. The mix of flooring types includes carpet, wood, and astroturf, and a varied palette of colors is used for walls and furniture. Rubber and felt were used in select areas, such as pinup spaces, for acoustical purposes due to its function for the stages.

The renovation of this outdoor rooftop garden project doesn’t stop only at the natural beauty

it provides. “As well as additional living space, green roofs can add a whole host of other benefits, including increasing the value of properties, supporting biodiversity, filtering air pollution, and even mitigating stormwater runoff and alleviating overflow.

Tanjung Kelayang is located in the Bangka Belitung Islands. Precisely in Sijuk District, about 27 kilometers from Tanjung

Pandan which is the capital of Belitung Regency. Tanjung Kelayang is famous for its nature eco-tourism and features such as beaches.

This beach has dozens of giant granite boulders, which look very similar to the head of an eagle. According to local folk-

lore, the stone is believed to have mystical power. The name “Kelayang” can be said to be a name taken from one of the bird species found on this beach. On March 15, 2016, Tanjung Kelayang was designated as a Special Economic Zone (KEK) through Government Regulation No. 6 of 2016, with main activities in the tourism sector. So, we aim to design a cultural-inspired information center that will attract foreigners and local tourists.

This case was given to acknowledge the agricultural development issue in the peri-urban area. The chosen location was

located in the Eco-Pesantren area in West Bandung Regency, with a consideration that this area will hopefully educate its people by an environmental approach. there have been architectural interventions that form the current existing in West Bandung Regency. Therefore, through the design tasks carried out, the design has to act as a place that accommodates students to learn and build responsibility as an intellectual individual that will contribute to the advancing society, as it is also expected to improve the technical aspects of the building.

This School Of Agriculture was initiated with a concern to provide knowledge for young people in the village to be able to

become prosperous farmers. The enthusiasm is based on the issue of food produce analyst, focusing more on the technology of hydrophonic, where most agricultural land is lost due to other functions. Also, by providing good farming knowledge, the younger people will choose to live in the village with prosperity, so that they do not have to go to the city to continue their life or career.

Due to the high rainfall, the building combined a flat roof with a sloping roof which also acts

as water drainage. For the aesthetic side, The facade of the building was using a hanging planter box that was finely made with customized light steel structures. Each planter box designed in such a way as the illusion of waves so it does not seem monotonous. Besides, as to explore more local materials, the building is also using facades with timber-mummification technology in the form of secondary skin. Lastly, to maximize natural lighting, openings were proportionally installed in the entire building, except for the west and east elevation where openings are minimized to prevent direct sunlight.
