Mars Geography Did
You
Know?
That Mars is the 4th planet in our
solar system! It Is 141.6M KM miles away from the sun. And could be possible for US humans to live on!
What’s so interesting about Mars? Every planet is our solar system may be interesting, but Mars is one of a kind! Mars also has seasons as we do here on
Earth, Mars’s days are also 24hrs and 37 minutes/Day and they have 687 day/year! That’s long! It is 687 Days a year because that is how long it takes to rotate the sun, while the earth is 2 times faster to rotate the sun as Mars is slower? So you would live of an average age of 45years in Mars! On Mars most of their atmosphere is made up of Carbon Dioxide. At mars the average temperature is at -63oC and at a Low of -140oC and a high of -60oC. The weather on mars is not always the same each year as it is here, it varies. In Mars, 2 years ago they took photos from the Phoenix lander showing that there was snow falling from the clouds 4 and a half KM before landing down onto Mars.
History How did they figure out Mars even exist? The first observations of mars were figured out by using telescopes. Mars is also the most visible planet for us to see and is the closet planet to us! September 1877 an Italian astronomer named Giovanni Schiaparelli published his map of the planet MARS
Orbits of Mars-
This is an orbit of Mars and The Earth on
the day of December 3rd,2010 You can see Earth And Mars are 354 Million KM away from each other which is really far away! Earth is close to northern and Mars is southern. As you can see in this photo that Mars takes around double to the time to rotate the sun because it is further away from the sun which makes it more time to rotate the sun.
Gravity! Gravity on MarsGravity Gravity On Mars the gravity is not the same as it would be here in on Earth you weigh less, you would probably ask How much less? Well on Mars you way 62% less than you would here on Earth! This means if my brother weighs 100Lbs he would weigh 38Lbs on Mars. If my dad weighted 200Lbs on earth he would weigh 72Lbs on Mars! You can see that On Mars there is a Huge Difference comparing on Earth!
What’s Near Mars? Planets, Stars, the Moon? Well as I said earlier that Mars is the 4th planet from the Sun but we haven’t talked about the 3rd planet and the 5th planet and the moon and stars! Well the 3rd planet to the sun is EARTH! Since planet Earth is closer to the Sun there are less days per year! Earth is the only planet known for now that humans can live on and has an average of 15oC. Jupiter is the 5th planet in the solar system and is not possible for us humans to live on because it is 90% hydrogen and 10% helium and has an average temperature of -110oC. There isn’t only one moon if you think there was Mars has 2 moons while Earth has 1 moon Mars’s neighbour “Jupiter” has 63 moons! That’s 63 times more than what we have on Earth!
Studies of Mars USA, Europe, And Japan have been doing studies about Mars for over 50 years now, They stared back in the 60’s and have launched spacecraft’s to Mars and 2/3 of these launches have failed from: losing connections, launching parachutes too early/ too late. It’s amazing how most of the time when they launch a spacecraft to Mars most of the times something goes wrong and the bad thing about this is they spent so much money to make these spacecraft’s, to launch them, connections. They also had studies about the rovers that landed on Mars! They were two of them they January 4,2004 and January 25,2003. They took photos of Mars, to see if live is even possible on mars. Although these rovers do not have long life’s and can only travel 700 yards.
Mission Badge
This is my Mars Compass it is an amazing Mission Badge for Mars.
