DRONE 101 Learn the basics in Drone safety, flight maneuvers and get your FAA Recreational Drone Pilot Certificate! This hands-on course will include plenty of flying time with our new DJI Mavic Drones. Participants will also have the opportunity to test their skills on our Drone Challenge Obstacle Course! DATES: SEP 18 & 25, 2021 NOTE: Participants should not bring their own drones the first day of class.
DRONES FOR THE WORKING PROFESSIONAL Want to use drones (UAVs) for your business or organization? Video, pictures, maps, sensing, etc. Come for some hands-on training in basic safety, flight maneuvers and learn what it takes to obtain your recreational or professional certificate from the FAA. You will be able to fly several types of drones, be introduced to cameras, sensors and software used with them. DATES: OCT 9 & 16, 2021 NOTE: Participants should not bring their own drones the first day of class.

Thomas Martin Facilitator
Dr. Thomas Martin is a full-time faculty at Shasta College in Redding, CA and has taught a wide variety of entrepreneurship and technology related courses since he was hired in 2002. He also teaches for National University in their Master’s Degree program in Organizational Development. Dr. Martin recently launched a high-tech manufacturing program at Shasta College where students will learn how to automate large factories using programmable logic controllers and robotic devices as well as an Entrepreneurial Manufacturing Program focused on small business, job shop and maker style production. Dr. Martin owns his own company that develops high-tech entertainment attractions for amusement parks and entertainment centers and has units installed worldwide. Dr. Martin received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems and his Master’s degree in E-Commerce from Utah State University and his Doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from The University of La Vern in Southern California. He spent two years in Chile on a religious service mission and is fluent in Spanish. He lives in Palo Cedro, CA with his wife and four children.
