AQUA AEROBICS

Water aerobics is a fun way for adults to stay active and fit. It’s also easier on your joints than doing a traditional gym workout and can even help relieve nagging aches and pains. Doing water aerobics has multiple health benefits. Exercising in water can strengthen your muscles and joints without putting stress on them. You’ll get your heart rate up but the water will keep you cool and comfortable while you work out. This class is for participants at any skill level.

AQUA JOGGING – DEEP WATER AEROBIC TRAINING

This class is a cross training and rehabilitation method using low impact resistance training which can produce aerobic results, improve full range of motion, increase strength, all without impacting joints. Participants wear a buoyancy belt also called an Aqua Jogger belt and move in various running motions suspended in deep water. This activity is not advised for the unskilled swimmer. Each participant will need to bring their own aqua jogger belt appropriate for their individual level of buoyancy. They can be found online. Prices will vary, $35 and up depending on source.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION FOR CHALLENGING TIMES

This course will be an introduction to Mindfulness Meditation suitable for ongoing mindfulness students. Love, compassion, joy, and equanimity will be our topics in the special topics course: challenging times call for special methods to trusting the goodness within, and these positive qualities sometimes seem outside of our reach. Calling them in through guided meditation will be the focus of instruction.

MINDFULNESS AND THE WAY OF WRITING

This course is a daylong mindfulness and writing retreat for students who want to learn mindfulness meditation and generate new writing. Mindfulness meditation instruction will be combined with writing prompts. Students should be ready to write, with a notebook and pens of their choice. We will share some of what we write together, create a writing community, and learn about mindfulness meditation as a way of listening to our inner writing voice.

Enjoy a complete body workout at home at a time that is convenient for you! You will receive links to at least two of Rhonda's popular Get Fit! videos each Monday for 8 weeks. Each video is approximately 45 minutes long. The sessions are designed for all fitness levels and offer you a complete workout with cardio, toning, strengthening, stretching and relaxation techniques. We do it all! Set to fun music and beautiful backdrops, you will find yourself coming back for more! Internet access is required for links to YouTube. Recommended materials: Dumbbells and a yoga mat or rug.

INTRODUCTION TO TAI CHI

This is an opportunity to learn China’s most revered exercise for health and longevity! In this introductory class you will learn the basic principles of Tai Chi’s slow moving and gentle exercises which are known for promoting relaxation, improving body awareness, balance, flexibility, and reducing stress. Age or physical condition is not a factor in learning Tai Chi. Students may repeat this class as often as they would like. DATES: OCT 5 – DEC 2, 2022 (No classes Thanksgiving week)

SHOTOKAN KARATE

Shotokan Karate is the authentic traditional karate for the mind, body and spirit! Get stronger physically and mentally! This class focuses on basics including stances, blocks, punches, kicks and Kata (pre-arranged fighting forms). This class is a combined class of beginning and intermediate levels. The class may split into two concurrent groups as needed. Instructors are Hiroko Mori (5th Degree Black Belt) and Brad Marsh (4th Degree Black Belt) of Shotokan Karate of America. SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE SELF-DEFENSE

Don’t be a victim! Learn how to protect yourself and be safe! This workshop focuses on awareness, how to escape, and simple/effective fighting techniques both standing and on the ground. It is a hands-on workshop taught by female instructor Hiroko Mori, (5th Degree Black Belt) of Shotokan Karate of America. This workshop is for ages 10 and up. Bring your family with you! Bring a partner so you can continue to practice what you have learned in class, although some of the throws are not encouraged to practice at home without supervision. Please come to class wearing clothes you are comfortable moving in. Parental consent, in writing, signed and dated, is required for those under the age of 18. The consent/waiver form will be provided at class.
