The herd sires on offer are awesome yearlings along with one special sire, RRTS Heracles 14L who will be a two year old on March 26th.
If you prefer not to take your bull home on sale day, we will be offering to take the bull(s) back home with us and care for them (with no extra charge) and provide FREE Delivery to your nearest BC Livestock Co-op yard in late March/early April. For any bulls that will be staying on our farm until delivery, we do request that insurance be placed on the bulls. An EPD (Expected Progeny Differences) is a prediction of future progeny performance for an animal when randomly mated to an infinite number of cattle.
EPD's provide a genetic description for an animal for their traits [i.e. birth weight, weaning weight, milk, yearling weight, etc.]. EPD's are expressed in the actual units of measure for a given trait. As an example, EPD's for traits such as birth weight (BW), weaning weight gain (WW), and yearling weight (YW) are expressed in pounds.
It is important to remember that EPD's should only be used as a guideline as although they are based on reliable criteria, they can only provide a likely probability of what the offspring will be like. Other factors along with genetics such as nutrition and feed as well as condition / health / age of dam etc. all factor in. Each breed also has its own EPD base so cannot reliably be compared across the breeds.
