EXCELLENCE The Road to

Recently I received a gift, a coaster for my desk. On one side, it says “Crush your goals.” On the other, “I come in peace, but I mean

business.” These two sentiments are the perfect reminders for my time as Interim Executive Director of St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce. When it comes to crushing goals and meaning business, there is one main route: the road to excellence. The road to excellence is different from both Randall Road and the Yellow Brick Road of Oz. To me, the road to excellence is the process and mindset of always putting our best foot forward. Everything we do at the Chamber — from events to business support to social media content — is an opportunity to serve our community and members in the best way possible. We’ve gone through changes in the last year at the Chamber. As we adapt, regroup and carry on, I find that we have a unique opportunity to advance on the road to excellence. I’m grateful to our Board of Directors and exceptional staff for their support and willingness to put in the extra work for success. Thank you for all that you do! As many of you know, we celebrated our 100th anniversary this year. The annual Charlemagne Gala harkened back to the 1920s; we had a jazz band, flapper dresses and awards for local successes. I’ve heard from many that it was the best gala they’d ever attended, so thank you for your enthusiastic participation and support! Now we are looking ahead to the next 100 years of St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce. There are always opportunities to get involved. The Chamber’s committees provide enriching programming; consider becoming a committee member or attending an upcoming event. If you’re a local business owner but haven’t stopped by yet, come grab a cup of coffee at the office (1601 W. Main St., Suite D) and see what Chamber membership is all about. You get out what you put in, as the saying goes, which is something I keep in mind in my interim role. Effort is everything, and this mindset takes us further along the road to excellence. I welcome you to take time to read our annual Community Guide & Membership Directory. From dining to nonprofits, the St. Charles History Museum to arts organizations, we’re proud to be a part of a community that prioritizes growth, involvement and connection. Together let’s crush our goals and continue to make St Charles a place where business thrives, and YOU be part of our story toward continued growth!
