VILLA PARK – With warm weather finally here – and hopefully here to stay – Villa Park is offering plenty of fun for residents.

Here are a few upcoming activities to get out and enjoy the Villa Park community:

3. Dads’ day 1. Ready, set, fish!

The race is on to catch as many fish as possible and win a prize.

Villa Park Parks and Recreation and Villa Park Sportsman’s Club are hosting a free Family Fishing Derby from 9 a.m. to noon June 6 at North Terrace Pond.

The derby will award prizes by age group to the largest, smallest and most fish caught. A casting contest also will be hosted from 9 to 9:45 am.

Participants should bring their own fishing gear. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic basket and make a day of it.

Club members will be on hand to give fishing tips. Call 630-834-8970 with any questions.

Villa Park Public Library will play host to a special day of events for kids and their dads.

Families will have the choice to participate in two film-based activities between 9 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. June 20.

A scavenger hunt will involve matching clues and descriptions to movie poster art.

A movie dads quiz will require contestants to identify a few father figures from movies based on descriptions.

They can use any library resource, including the Internet, to find the answers.

Each contest yields the potential to win a $25 Visa gift card. Each activity is open to all ages.

Warriors should ready their battle skills for Villa Park Parks and Recreation’s Life Size Battleship at Jefferson Pool.

Teams will use buckets to try and

sink their opponent’s canoe with water from the pool until the other canoe is completely submerged.

Teams will move around the pool using their hands, buckets and shields to paddle.

Teams of four will compete in the following divisions: youth (ages 6 to 12), family (two adults and two children) and adult (18 and older).

Life Size Battleship will be hosted in conjunction with Patron Appreciation Day and emceed by coach Josh of All Star Sports. It will be at 2 p.m. June 26.

A lifeguard will be in the pool to assist. All canoes, buckets and shields are provided. Life jackets can be worn at the participant’s discretion, but they will not be provided.

Preregistration is required. The fee is $29 per team.

5. Travel through time Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean learning needs to take a back seat to other activities.

The Villa Park Historical Museum offers glimpses into the village’s past through various exhibits.

The museum at 220 S. Villa Ave. is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“We’ll use it to support and retain businesses, as well as to attract new businesses to our downtown area,” she said.

Tickets for the Ale Fest are $40, and Difino expects between 1,500 and 2,000 people at the fest. He encouraged people to buy them early as ticket sales are already up 30 percent from last year.

“The event is very popular, and we’re not going to allow more than 2,000 people because we don’t want to overcrowd it,” Difino said. “But we love to bring people to downtown Lombard. The community can come together, enjoy some great beer and support two great causes.”

“We know we have a beautiful venue, parking is easy and we’re right by the train station,” Difino said. “I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I’ve learned that there’s a bond between craft beer lovers, and everyone’s a friend.”

All the proceeds from the Ale Fest benefit the Glenbard East Sports Boosters and the Lombard Town Centre.

Difino said the booster club, which is made of parent volunteers, will use the money to benefit the students.

LOMBARD – Paul Kreiner, owner and brewer of Lombard’s Noon Whistle Brewery, can’t wait to debut his lilac syrup-infused Farmhouse Ale at this year’s Lombard Ale Fest.

“It’s a lighter beer, and it’s very special,” Kreiner said. “We love bringing different beers to our customers.”

Craft beer lovers from all over the Western suburbs will descend on Lilacia Park from 1 to 5 p.m. June 13 for the second annual Ale Fest. Kreiner’s brewery will be one of about 60 breweries and home brewers who will be sampling beer.

Bob Difino, event chairman for the Glenbard East Booster Club, which sponsors the event, said each brewery will sample two beers and expects most of them to be lighter-bodied.

“The whole craft beer movement is really taking off, and brewers typically have special brews for these types of events,” Difino said. “There will be more summer beers there, all different kinds, but probably fewer stout beers.”

Will O’Brien, owner of Flesk Brewing in Lombard, is very excited to be returning to the festival this year. He said he will be featuring two new beers.

“We’ll be debuting Moped Traveler, which is a very summery pale ale with a lemony citrus characteristic,” O’Brien said. “And our second beer is called Ghost Relic, and it’s a wonderful, light-bodied IPA.” New this year is the addition of 10 home brewers from the Home Brewers Guild. Difino said the home brewers are “regular folks who just brew for fun at home.” In addition to the home brewers, the fest will hand out awards, which they didn’t do last year.

“Guests will vote for their favorite in five categories, including best in show and best home brew,” he said.

There also will be a few changes to this year’s entertainment, Difino said.

“There will be three bands instead of two,” he said. “Midlothian Scottish Pipe Band will march through this year while Whiskey Creek and the Enablurz

SUBURBAN LIFE MEDIA LOMBARD – In a post on its website, Lombard Town Centre announced this year’s LomBar-B-Que and Blues Fest, scheduled Aug. 8, has been canceled.

Following discussions with partners, community members, volunteers and businesses, it was determined the event needed more resources than are currently available from Lombard Town Centre, the post stated.

Although the event will not be hosted in 2015, it may be revisited in the future as a collaborative effort, according to the post.

“We are very grateful for the support of the BBQ community, businesses and volunteers for their excitement for this event,” Lombard Town Centre Executive Director Sarah Richardt said in the post.

Town Centre board President Chris Cholewa said the organization is excited to grow downtown into a place where families want to spend time.

“We are already working to organize our annual Spooktacular event, where we expect to see over 5,000 community members celebrating our downtown while children trick or treat at local businesses.”

LOMBARD – Although the village of Lombard completed the Terrace View Pond Project in fall 2014, its work at the site is not done, according to a village news release.

The project involved installing a new pump station on the southwest side of the pond constructing twin relief storm sewers on the north side of the pond, and placing coir fiber logs along the edge of the pond.

New native vegetation also was planted along the exposed bank.

The purpose of the project was to mitigate the amount of localized flooding north of the pond and to maintain the aesthetics and recreational value of the pond, the release stated.

As a condition of the Lombard Park District’s approval to utilize Terrace View Pond for improved stormwater management, the village assumed responsibility for the maintenance of the pond and the perimeter wetland.

Lombard is required by the wetlands permit issued by DuPage County to establish a monitoring and maintenance program for a period of three

to five years at the pond because of its classification as a regulatory wetland, according to the release.

The village has retained the consulting firm of Baxter and Woodman to oversee the yearly inspections and reporting requirements imposed by the permit.

In an effort to improve the water surface and vegetated perimeter of the pond, Lombard also has retained the services of Rollins Aquatic Solutions to perform specialized aquatic plant management to control plant growth.

The village awarded a contract to ENCAP Incorporated for the vegetation management of the pond perimeter. This month, ENCAP and village Forestry Division staff will begin to remove undesirable woody species, the release stated.

During the late spring through early fall, ENCAP and Public Works will do three spot mowings and applications of herbicides to remove invasive and objectionable species of plants. In the late fall, the company and village will perform a prescribed controlled burn.

Underpass connects downtown, improves Metra station safety

By LEE V. GAINES editorial@mysuburbanlife.com LOMBARD – Lombard’s new Metra pedestrian underpass, which has been under construction for the past year, opened this week.

But the $9.7 million project is not yet finished, said the village’s director of public works, Carl Goldsmith.

June 2 marked “the date of substantial completion,” meaning the pedestrian tunnel is complete and open to commuters, but access to areas still under construction is limited, Goldsmith said. As of 9 a.m. June 3, the at-grade pedestrian crossing along the railroad tracks was removed.

The remaining work on the project involves the completion of the roof, concrete platform surfaces and the installation of additional LED lighting in the tunnel and security cameras at the Lombard Metra station at 20 S. Main St. Some decorative elements also will be added in the coming weeks, Goldsmith said.

Final completion is expected about Aug. 1.

The initial timeline for the project intended for the substantial completion mark to be hit by Feb. 27. But an extremely frigid February resulted in weather-related construction delays, in addition to some time lost because of the relocation of utilities, Goldsmith said.

“I think people were generally pleased to see that the work is at least to the point where they can utilize the improvement,” said Goldsmith, who was at the station early June 3.

He said temporary signage will help guide commuters to where they need to go while the finishing touches on the project are completed.

Metra funded the vast majority of the project, Goldsmith said, and as far as he knows, it has remained on budget. The village pitched in about $300,000 for aesthetic upgrades, including bronze medallions that feature Lombard-themed designs and an anti-graffiti coating within the tunnel, among other improvements, he said.

Village funds also paid for the security cameras, Goldsmith said.

While no one looks forward to con-

struction, he said, the pedestrian tunnel will offer safer access to the station for commuters and also will provide better connectivity between Lombard’s downtown and its civic and historical areas.

Before construction began, Lombard Town Centre Executive Director Sarah Richardt said some businesses in the area were concerned the construction process may negatively impact their bottom lines.

But those fears never actually materialized into a real issue, she said.

“We’ve been pleasantly surprised on how little negative impact the construction has had on the local businesses,” Richardt said.

She added the pedestrian underpass “already looks fabulous” despite the work still left to be done.

Be wary, deep education cuts might never heal COMMUNITY VOICE David Larson While our lawmakers scheme a property tax freeze, pension cost shift to local school districts and reduced General State Aid to school districts, it’s paramount they be creative and divergent in their thinking. Ralph Martire, executive director of the Chicago-based Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, outlines a path for fair revenue enhancements. They include: • Consider marginally increasing the personal income tax rate from the current 3.75 to 4.25. This would be similar to the rates in other states.

• Expand the sales tax to include consumer services. This would be fair and consistent across sectors.

• Reamortize the pension debt from 30 to 43 years. This would provide immediate relief.

• Begin taxing retirement income on a graduated scale.

Again, this would be consistent with other states.

As any smart businessperson knows, arriving at a balanced budget through only cuts will harm your enterprise. Again, a growing and thriving modern economy will need a balance of restructuring and investing. Let’s hope our lawmakers realize this.

Heroin’s deadly reign affects us all It’s easy to think of heroin addiction as something that happens to other people, other families. Especially if you and your children have made it through the teen years and early adulthood without coming under the thumb of addiction.

But even if no one in your immediate circle had even tried heroin, it still affects you in ways that are almost impossible to see. Maybe your favorite cashier at the grocery store just isn’t there one day, and you never know why. Maybe a local business you frequent shuts down out of the blue. Maybe a friend or a colleague becomes distant for no apparent reason, no longer hosts gatherings, no longer talks with pride about what the kids are doing.

Cook and DuPage counties have seen a decline in heroin-related deaths thanks to the use of Narcan to combat overdoses. From 46 deaths in 2013 to 33 last year, DuPage County is on track for about 27 this year. Cook County’s drop was less significant, from 275 in 2013 to 283 in 2014.

Regardless, if those declines are because of the success of Narcan, then it means the

I’m not looking to incite fear or convince every parent that their child is a secret dope fiend. Far from it. The miracle is that most teens, knowing full well how they could get their hands on some truly toxic substances, choose not to do so at a time in their life when they’ve got all kinds of pressures pushing them to make bad decisions.

These are just a few of the obvious ways heroin abuse continues to affect all of us.

Review other state taxing structures that are thriving economically and you will observe a balance of reductions and revenue enhancements. Minnesota, for example, is enjoying a billion-dollar surplus because of its disciplined, sustained investment in education and key social services.

SUBURBAN LIFE MEDIA The former executive director of the Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association died May 30 after a long battle with kidney cancer, according to an organization news release.

Jeena Green- Jeena walt, 49, died in Greenwalt her hometown of Carlinville, Ill., surrounded by her family. She worked at NEDSRA for nearly 20 years before stepping down in March because of her illness.

Greenwalt dedicated her life to improving the lives of people with disabilities and

“Jeena’s spirit will be truly missed by our participants and by staff.”

Rick Poole NEDSRA executive director championed many new programs at NEDSRA. She was well-respected and loved by the participants and their families, the release stated.

“Jeena’s spirit will be truly missed by our participants and by staff,” new Executive Director Rick Poole said in the release. “Her inspiration and guiding force at NEDSRA will continue as we honor

her with our commitment to excellent recreational programs that improve the lives of individuals with disabilities.”

Greenwalt graduated from Carlinville High School in 1983 and from Illinois State University in 1988. She began her career at NEDSRA in 1991.

She left NEDSRA for a short period to work in North Carolina before returning to the organization in 1997.

Fishing and camping were her favorite pastimes, but spending time with her nieces and nephews was her true passion, the release stated. She is survived by her father, Richard Greenwalt; brother, Jay Greenwalt; sisters Jana Schweizer and Jodi Valdivieso,

and many nieces and nephews.

Per her wishes, there will be no formal visitation, as a private family cremation service will be held at the Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery.

For friends and family, a celebration of Greenwalt’s life will be at 2 p.m. June 14 at the Carlinville Elks Lodge, 201 W. Main St. in Carlinville.

She wished for her family and friends to enjoy an afternoon of food and music while sharing memories of her, the release stated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jeena Greenwalt Scholarship Fund at NEDSRA, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or St. Paul’s United Church of Christ.

Bensenville kicks off summer with a splash!

By Gina Kraman The Bensenville Park District welcomes the public to its summer season on Friday, June 5, from 5-10 p.m. with a free Water Park and Splash Pad celebration, complete with a deejay, dunk tank, games, prizes, and a movie.

Eager to showcase its Water Park and Splash Pad, located at 1100 W. Wood St., the Bensenville Park District has planned five hours of events, concluding with a showing of the movie “Frozen” on the grounds in the Water Park.

Plans include Water Park activities from 5-8 p.m., featuring games and a fire truck. Guests may join the sand castle contest from 5-5:45 p.m., then watch a lifeguard safety demonstration from 6-6:30 p.m. Relay races are from 6:30-7 p.m., while Ronald McDonald will be available from 6:30-7:30 p.m. to entertain guests.

Hula hoop and limbo contests will run from 7-8 p.m. At dusk, the water areas will be closed, and “Frozen” will be shown on the grassy hill area.

The Bensenville Park District’s new Splash Pad is a 2,527-square-foot spray park play area containing attractions that flow, mist, and propel water. This area complements the 12-18” deep children’s interactive water play area.

Older guests enjoy the Water Park’s 155-foot water slide and “plunge pool,” two additional slides, a diving board, and a 12-1/2-foot dive well. Zero-depth entry into the spacious pool area accommodates young swimmers, while designated areas for lap swimming provide multiple fitness opportunities.

For non-swimmers, the Water Park offers large shaded areas and a sun deck furnished with more than 100 chaise lounges and chairs. Large grassy areas for sunning overlook the Water Park. A full-service concession area features summertime favorites. Wet and dry sand play areas, a playground, and beach volleyball are available.

The Bensenville Park District boasts that for the past six years, its lifeguard staff earned top Ellis & Associations awards for safety.

LOMBARD – The 2015-16 school year will bring some new faces to Trinity Lutheran School in Lombard, according to a school news release.

Principal Kenneth Krohse is retiring after serving as head administrator at the school since September 1983. His wife, Marlene, who has been a kindergarten teacher at the school, also is retiring.

Together, the Krohses have been teaching on the Trinity faculty for 38 years, having both come to the Lombard school in 1977.

The shoes of this couple will soon be filled by another pair of teaching spouses.

On June 21, Trinity Lutheran Church, which operates the preschool through eighth-grade school, will install Andrew DeWitt as principal and seventh- and eighth-grade teacher and Leann DeWitt as kindergarten teacher.

The DeWitts, both graduates of Concordia University Chicago, come to Lombard from St. Paul Lutheran School in Rochelle.

Another big change at Trinity is the stepping back of preschool Director Arlene Solyom, who will continue working in the early childhood program as needed but will be replaced in her full-time post by her granddaughter and Trinity alumna Rachel Solyom.

The younger Solyom, who received her early childhood education degree from Concordia University Chicago, was a part-time member of the preschool faculty this past year and previously served at Grace Lutheran School in River Forest and Shining Stars Preschool in Elmwood Park.

Trinity Lutheran Church also recently welcomed a new associate pastor, the Rev. Steven E. Wagner, to serve alongside senior pastor the Rev. Patrick J. Boomhower, who has been at the Lombard congregation since 2008.

Originally from Texas and having most recently worked with two Lutheran congregations in South Dakota, Wagner has relocated to Lombard, which will now be home to his wife, Barbara, and son, Steven. The couple also has two grown children, Brian and Megan.

Glen Ellyn should nix the Giesche Shoes development I share the concerns expressed by [Glen Ellyn] Village Trustees and residents over the proposed Opus Group redevelopment of the Giesche Shoes property and the adjoining village parking lot, which was given to Opus as an incentive. This massive, multiuse redevelopment of the village gateway includes a five-story commercial and residential building and an adjacent 339-space parking deck.

The height would range from 53 to 61 feet, which makes the building actually six stories using the 10-feet-per-story measure employed by many cities. The building will dwarf the adjoining properties and come right up to the sidewalk on Main Street. A six-story building on the hill overlooking historic Main Street should not be allowed to happen.

reen roof gardens are transforming urban areas, bringing nature to new heights. The trend is catching on with not only commercial builders but homeowners in suburban areas, too.

Green roof gardens are nothing new — basically the ancient hanging gardens of Babylon were green roof gardens – but now such gardens have expanded beyond rooftops with planters and al fresco dining areas, said Gaelle Berges, product and development manager for Vegetal i.D., a European green roof leader since 1992, which branched out to North America in 2010.

Head Coach Rory Dames’ squad earned the valuable point behind disciplined team defending and a strong performance by netminder Michele Dalton, whose seven saves saw the 26-year-old earn her second shutout of the 2015 campaign.

Seattle controlled possession early on and created the first promising chance in the 13th minute. Reigning league MVP Kim Little sprinted down to the byline on the left side and set up Danielle Foxhoven, whose mishit effort from inside the box found fellow attacker Merritt Mathias. The Alabama native failed to make full contact on the ball, her shot attempt being comfortably stopped by Dalton.

Chicago’s Vanessa DiBernardo released a dangerous drive at the other end of the field in the 20th minute, a wicked deflection forcing goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer to leave her feet for a spectacular parry. Red Stars defender Michelle Lomnicki had her side’s best chance of the day on the ensuing DiBernardo corner from the right, as she headed the ball goalward with Kopmeyer out of the net, only to see it dramatically headed off the line by Reign FC’s Elli Reed.

The home side had a pair of attempts during the remainder of the opening period, forcing solid saves from Dalton, who did well to avoid giving up rebounds.

After the break, both teams’ promising attacking efforts were well defended, as the fans had to wait until the 65th minute for another close look. Red Stars midfielder Danielle Colaprico swung in a corner kick from the left and Lomnicki got her head on the ball once more, this time seeing her close-range effort bounce just wide of the left post.

During my next visit, I decided I wanted to put my red meat cravings on the backseat for the sake of vegetarian readers, and ordered the veggie burger topped with avocado and tomato.

Back Alley got points straight away for the clearly house-made patty instead of

the frozen black bean affair found in many places. It had a whole lot of mildly spicy complexity to it, but could have used more sear.

I decided to go with the classic onion rings as my side this go-round, and, predictably, they were battered perfectly. Each had a uniform

amount of tasty breading with a nice crunch and plenty of welcome onion flavor.

I knew I needed to sample one of the restaurant’s handspun shakes to truly tell the full story. The Nutella version was intensely chocolate and dangerously drinkable as opposed to milk shakes the

A lot of places do a decent burger, and a lot try to push the envelope of what a burger can be. Back Alley definitely does so with success, along with a friendly waitstaff quick to offer a suggestion, and a welcoming interior with rockand-roll appeal.

If you’re going to put your burger fate in the hands of anyone, the people at Back Alley should be near the top of the list.

LA GRANGE – Grilling season is here, but consider leaving the burger production to the pros at Back Alley Burger in La Grange.

The restaurant is the creation of veteran restaurateurs Mary and Christopher Spagnola of Western Springs, who first met at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Their training is a big part of what sets Back Alley Burger apart, and their concept has expanded to a second location in Elmhurst.

The pair’s hard-rocking La Grange restaurant has a big but focused menu offering a number of different burgers featuring grass-fed and never frozen beef, plus sandwiches, chili, nitrate-free hot dogs, salads, shakes, beer and wine, all served alongside street art decor and classic rock tunes.

Inventive burger toppings and a theme alone do not a quality restaurant make, but, luckily, Back Alley Burger delivers.

Though my imagination was caught by the Most Insane-est Hottest Burger Ever-est, filled with such ingredients as habanero jam, fried jalapeños, Thai chili cream cheese and something called Trinidad scorpion sauce, I decided to go with the less threatening Make Shroom for Me Burger.

What came out was truly delicious. The patty itself was incredibly juicy without being greasy, and the pretzel bun it came on gave just enough structure to make sure the second half of the burger wasn’t soggy. Though it could have used a bit more of the namesake mushrooms, the grilled onions on top added an appreciated bite to the sandwich.

A surprise was the caliber of the sweet potato fries. So many restaurants make a tremendous burger, but serve a pile of over-salted greasy fries alongside it. These were some of the best I’ve ever had.

The thin fries had an amazing crispness to them that still had a mind-boggling amount of creamy sweet potato in the middle.

Rams earn respect despite defeat

“Glenbard East is probably the best defensive team in the state,” Glenbard West coach Christine Giunta-Mayer said.

The Rams (33-6) were close midway through each game but were hit with big runs at similar times. Five straight points in Game 1 put the Hilltoppers up 19-12, then a 6-0 run in Game 2 broke open what was a 14-13 Glenbard West lead.

“One thing Glenbard West does really well is put up a big block,” Rams’ senior Adam Eboli said. “That threw us out of system a little. They’re a great team all around, but we battled with them.”

Eboli led the Rams with 10 kills while Nick Symonds had a strong all-around match (seven kills, 10 digs).

“Last year, we went out in regionals,” Symonds said. “To make it to the sectional championship is awesome. It was a fun season, something I’ve never experienced.”

In addition to Schmidt, Ressinger, Pelsor and Sporer, Willowbrook’s seniors were Cheyenne Brunig, Megan Ciapponi, Isabella Devens, Taylar Jones, Alex Kassal, Elisa King, Courtney Ruchala and Francesca Santelli. Dannenberg and Jordan Marczewski were the only junior starters.

BOYS BASKETBALL

SCHAUMBURG – For four years, this senior class for Willowbrook softball racked up impressive stats, accolades and most importantly, wins.

However, the team wasn’t quite able to get over the hump and win a regional title. For the second year in a row, the Warriors lost in a regional final, this time it was an 8-4 defeat June 1 against top sectional seed Schaumburg.

Willowbrook’s seniors didn’t just lead the team, they were nearly the entire team. There were 12 seniors out of the 15 players on the roster, including four-year varsity players Sam Schmidt, Alyssa Ressinger and Delaney Pelsor.

“As a senior class, they’ve won 84 games together,” coach Rachel Karos said. “They’ve done a lot. They’ve won second place in conference a couple years in a row.”

Schmidt had an especially remarkable high school career. The shortstop entered the playoffs with a .509 career batting average and went 3 for 6 with two RBIs, two runs and two walks in Willowbrook’s two playoff games. She even ended with a home run in her final at-bat, when Willowbrook trailed 8-2 down to their final out in the regional final.

She finished with 44 home runs, 192 RBIs and 179 runs scored in four years. The Northern Illinois recruit played through a lingering shoulder injury suffered during basketball season but still performed at her normal level.

“She’s been playing through some little aches and stuff,” Karos said.

WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has enacted "An act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in any public works by the one under contract for public works," approved June 26, 1941, as amended, (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1987, Ch. 48, par. 39s-1 et seq. as amended by Public Acts 86-799 and 86-693) and WHEREAS, the aforesaid Act requires that the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 of DuPage County investigate and ascertain the prevailing rate of wages as defined in said Act for laborers, mechanics and other workers in the locality of said DuPage County employed in performing construction of public works, for said School District.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF ELMHURST COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT 205: SECTION 1: To the extent and as required by "An Act regulating wages of laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in any public works by State, county, city or any public body or any political subdivision or by any one under contract for public works," approved June 26, 1941, as amended, the general prevailing rate of wages in this locality for laborers, mechanics and other workers engaged in construction of public works coming under the jurisdiction of the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 is hereby ascertained to be the same as the prevailing rate of wages for construction work in the DuPage County area as determined by the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois as of June of the current year, a copy of that determination being attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. As required by said Act, any and all revisions of the prevailing rate of wages by the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois shall supersede the Department's June determination and apply to any and all public works construction undertaken by the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205. The definition of any terms appearing in this ordinance which are also used in aforesaid Act shall be the same as in said Act. SECTION 2: Nothing herein contained shall be construed to apply said general prevailing rate of wages as herein ascertained to any work or employment except public works construction of the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 to the extent required by the aforesaid Act. SECTION 3: Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 shall publicly post or keep available for inspection by any interested party in the main office of the Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 this determination or any revisions of such prevailing rate of wage. A copy of this determination or of the current revised determination of prevailing rate of wages then in effect shall be attached to all contract specifications.

SECTION 4: Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 shall mail a copy of this determination to any employer, and to any association of employers and to any person or association of employees who have filed their names and addresses, requesting copies of any determination stating the particular rates and the particular class of workers whose wages will be affected by such rates.

SECTION 5: Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 shall promptly file a certified copy of this Ordinance with both the Secretary of State Index Division and the Department of Labor of the State of Illinois.
