After the victim told Rainey she had very little money in her home, he allegedly forced her at gunpoint to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash, the state’s attorney’s office said. After withdrawing funds from her savings and checking accounts and giving the money to Rainey, Rainey ordered the woman to drive to a nearby apartment complex where he exited the vehicle and walked away, according to the state’s attorney. The victim called 911 and was transported to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

ANGULAR CHEILITIS

Q: What is angular cheilitis? A: Angular cheilitis (pron. ky-LIE-tis) is a condition that develops with age. As we get older, the cells in our skin contain less water and the tissue holds less fat. One of the results is the creation of so-called “purse string” wrinkles around the lips. In some cases, especially if the loose skin condition is exacerbated by tooth wear or tooth loss, the wrinkles can become especially deep at the corners of the mouth. If they are subjected to continued wetting and drying because of constant licking, the corners can become chapped and inflamed. This is the condition known as angular cheilitis. The condition also can be aggravated by vitamin deficiencies, particularly by a deficiency of vitamin B2. It is not uncommon for angular cheilitis to be accompanied by an infection like candidiasis, which is the general term for conditions involving a variety of fungi referred to as yeasts. The most common among these fungi is called candida albicans, which is naturally found in the mouth. When something throws off the natural balance involving fungi in the mouth, it’s a problem. Candidiasis in the mouth is commonly referred to as thrush. Talk with your dentist to learn more about angular cheilitis and other dental conditions that accompany aging.

An investigation led by Westmont police with assistance from the Woodridge Police Department and the DuPage County Crime Lab led to Rainey, who was found to already be in police custody on unrelated charges. “The Westmont Police Department has worked very hard to bring a quick resolution to this case to reassure our residents that they live in a safe community,” Westmont Police Chief Tom Mulhearn said in a release. “Hopefully these charges will bring justice and some closure to the victim. As the case progresses, we will continue to work closely with the state’s attorney’s office to secure a conviction on these charges.” Rainey also was charged with home invasion and aggravated kidnapping in the Jan. 1 incident, the state’s attorney’s office said. His bond was set at $5 million and is awaiting his next court appearance Feb. 10 in front of Judge Daniel Guerin.

Join the mob

aschier@shawmedia.com WESTMONT – It’s been far from business as usual for downtown Westmont stores in recent months, as a local group has organized a series of cash mobs. The events consist of a number of customers patronizing a randomly selected shop at once – with each person spending at least $10 – in order to give the business a boost. “It was amazing and surprising and really nice,” said Jenny Maison, owner of Blue Beaker, which was the first Westmont store to see a cash mob back in November of 2014.

For information about the Westmont Renaissance Alliance’s next cash mob, contact the organization at 630-2967448 or info@westmontrenaissancealliance.org or visit its Facebook page at http://shawurl.com/1p0p. Maison said the event made for a high-traffic day. With more than twice the normal amount of business the shop sees, it even exceeded the numbers the store experienced on Small Business Saturday while simultane-

He learned about the cash mob concept online and has worked to incorporate it into the community. Since visiting Blue Beaker, cash mobs have come to Westmont Floral in December and, most recently, to Pleasantville Resale on Saturday. Plowman hopes the events will spark

an interest in the downtown and help residents discover what local businesses have to offer – something Maison said is critical to those shops’ survival. “You have to continue to shop the stores,” she said. Westmont Floral owner Theresa Graventi, who has worked at the family business 64 years and owned it almost four decades, said with much of the shop’s transactions taking place online, walk-in customers have become an increasingly rare and welcome sight. For Graventi, the cash mob was a reminder the community knows and values her store. “That was wonderful,” she said.

GLEN ELLYN – College of DuPage President Robert Breuder has announced he will retire, effective March 31, 2016. The Board of Trustees accepted his retirement Jan. 22 by a 6-1 vote, with Vice Chairwoman Kathy Hamilton voting against the acceptance. The board also is scheduled to address the contract during a special meeting today. As part of his retirement, the college will pay Breuder a lump sum of $762,867.77, according to new board-approved contract provisions. Board documents also state Breuder will help the college select its next president and that the Homeland Security Education Center will be named after Breuder. Breuder’s contract originally ran through June 30, 2019. Breuder did not respond to media questions after the board’s meeting Jan. 22, but in a news release from the college he said he’s planning to help the board move forward. “Between now and then I will continue to help ensure our college

At the Jan. 22 meeting, Board Chairwoman Erin Birt said the board was informed in April 2014 that Breuder intended to retire.

WHEATON – State Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, announced Friday in a news release that she will ask the Illinois Auditor General to audit the College of DuPage after the school announced a large buyout for its president. Ives’ announcement comes after the college made public that President Robert Breuder would retire March 31, 2016, three years before his contract was set to expire. At a meeting Jan. 22, the Board of Trustees voted 6-1 to approve an amendment to Breuder’s contract that would allow him to retire in 2016. The contract includes severance pay totaling $762,867.77, which will be given to Breuder as a lump sum. Additionally, the school’s Homeland Security Education Center will be named after him. He visits there annually with his immediate family and is all too familiar with the extent of the poverty there. He felt that there was no better place to donate his goods, then to the children in Guatemala. Today, Johan’s simple but extraordinary idea has blossomed into a full-ledged organization that he now calls, “Goals4All”. It has been in existence for almost six years now and every year, a different school in Guatemala is chosen to receive all of the equipment Johan gathers throughout the year. College of DuPage Faculty Association President Glenn Hansen said Monday there are “several concerns” about the buyout the Board of Trustees accepted for Breuder. “No one else at the college gets an incentive to retire early,” said Hansen, who is a photography professor. The amount of money Breuder will make between his $762,000 severance payment and his salary between now and his retirement is close to $1.3 million. That money, Hansen said, could be used to fund 91 two-year, full-ride scholarships. “We would prefer to see him gone now,” Hansen said. “If you’re buying him out, he’s leaving the college this January.” The Faculty Association voted no confidence in Breuder in September and since then have not heard from any trustees about the vote. Part of Breuder’s buyout allows him to assist in the search for the next president, which Hansen said is particularly troubling. “In light of our vote of no confidence, we see that as problematic,” he said.

Hamilton had strong words regarding the severance payment Breuder will receive. She spoke during public comment, calling the lump sum a “wanton betrayal” of the college. She felt the board should dismiss Breuder for the public fallout that arose in recent months. “I say no to the golden parachute,” Hamilton said. “And yes to getting rid of Breuder.” She also took issue with how the process of Breuder’s retirement approval was handled. “I think the board did a bad job of not including the community,” Hamilton said. Birt said the documents were confidential and not to be distributed until after board approval. For The Good of Illinois Founder Adam Andrzejewski wanted the college to conduct a full-cost study of the severance pay to determine how it could be used. “We need clarity on whether or not the lump sum will count as pensionable salary,” he said. “If so, Breuder’s pension will rival his current working salary.” Trustee Kim Savage was pleased with the retirement plan and said Breuder has done a lot of good work for the college.

er to board trustees addressed freeing up $20 million the state set aside for building demolition at the college. In the email, Breuder suggested finding options that would be “politically attractive” to the governor’s office, such as constructing a teaching and learning center with the money. The governor’s office responded to the leaked email by saying it would not provide the $20 million. There was substantial fallout as a result of the email. In August, the board voted 5-2 to censure Hamilton for “inappropriate and embarrassing conduct” when she misled the public about the email, according to the censure resolution. The college Faculty Association in September voted no confidence in Breuder – an action the board has not publicly addressed. In October, For The Good of Illinois claimed the school was hiding $95 million from trustees using imprest payments, which are less than $15,000 and do not require board review. A recent audit by Crowe Horwath LLP gave the college a clean bill of financial health. The board voted unanimously not to audit the imprest payments. In December, the board voted to approve an audit of the college radio station, despite its prior acknowledgment of the potential that fraud had taken place there a year earlier. Share memories with younger generations As we age, many of us like to look back at events that occurred during our younger years. We like to reminisce, make connections with past experiences, and reflect upon friendships and relationships. Reminiscing allows us to sort out and pull together events and achieve a sense of purpose and continuity. It is important to share our COMMUNITY life story with family. It enVOICE ables us to connect with them Hanna on a uniquely personal level. Benioff By talking about our parents and grandparents or recalling experiences from throughout our lifetime, we make family history come alive for our children, grandchildren and future generations. Revealing our inner lives, sharing painful and humorous moments, discussing family patterns and roots, we help create an intimate sense of unity and pride in the family’s heritage. Our family also may find an interesting perspective about changes in the world we have witnessed over time. There are numerous ways for sharing memories and creating a family legacy: • Discussing the idea of memory sharing with family members and inviting them to join you for several “family history sessions.” This can be done as a group or on a one-on-one basis. • Compiling a book of reminiscences that include letters, photos, recipes, poems, stories and diaries. Review them with family members and put them in an album for future generations. • Sharing special memories with a grandchild by recording them in an album and presenting it to him or her on a special occasion. • Assembling a photo album by collecting old pictures you have saved over the years. Together with family members, identify and write captions for each of the photos and assemble them in an album. • Emphasizing family traditions transmits a cultural heritage and creates a sense of continuity. Does your family celebrate holidays with traditional foods or costumes? Are there specific heirlooms such as antique silverware, dishes or tablecloths used for special occasions? Does your family enjoy particular games, songs or dances on certain holidays? Pass your special and unique cultural heritage on by recording them for your family. Taking time to create your family legacy with such activities can bring families closer together and assure that these memories live with future generations.

Westmont School District 201 will bring a scaled-back facility improvement referendum to the April election ballot.

This one goes out to the Westmont voters who stay engaged in the decisions being made in the community. Westmont School District 201 will bring a scaled-back facility improvement plan to the April election ballot. This version of the plan comes with a reduced price tag from the referendum voters shot down in November. Now it’s the residents’ turn to again get educated about the issue and make an informed decision at the polls. We look forward to finding out who the next Westmont Citizen of the Year will be. Not a ridiculous complaint

I would like to respond to what I saw today about ridiculous complaints. People I live in Westmont, on North Park Street, are mad that snow is left on their driveways. go east on Ogden [Avenue]. I guess you have to live here to understand this issue. This is regarding the [Interstate] 355 underpass, which divides Lisle and Downers Grove on Hitchcock Road. The area underneath [Interstate] 355 in the right-of-way walk areas and so forth in there has debris, garbage, old cans, landscaping debris, cups, so on and so forth, old fast food bags. Consistently, it’s been like that for a long time. Only periodically, does – I believe – the village of Downers Grove clean that up. I believe that’s village of Downers Grove’s jurisdiction. That’s their area, not Lisle’s, but Downers Grove. And it’s a terrible, terrible eyesore. It looks like somewhere in downtown Detroit, not downtown, on the outskirts of the city. It looks terrible. Periodically, at least twice a week, someone should go through there and clean it up.

Travel with sense in the dark

We live, drive, walk in Downers Grove, but where is the intelligence and common sense? Those of you who commute by train to and from work should realize that most of you wear black clothing, and it is not visible in the dark. Many are walking while cellphone-talking and not observing stop signs, traffic lights or pedestrian walkways. You put yourselves and drivers at risk. This also applies to those drivers who do not put on your lights at dawn or dusk. Folks, it’s not about whether you can see, but whether you can be seen.

Again, we have College of DuPage in the news and the stupidity of the Board of Trustees continues (except for one lone wolf who has integrity). What in the world are the trustees thinking? With the “no confidence” vote that was overwhelming, the trustees see fit to award [Robert] Breuder $762,000 in severance? Don’t the trustees have any backbone? The man should have been fired, not rewarded. There has been nothing but tension in the college since he arrived. Most of the faculty and students would love to see this man walked out in handcuffs instead of with money bags. It is also time the public did its homework before an election. There are seven trustees that should also be shown to the door. Wake up people!

I have been a Westmont resident for 10 years. During that time, Westmont has spent about $1 million on mosquito abatement. In these very pages, Westmont’s own village manager was quoted as saying that treating for mosquitoes (spraying, etc.) was “about as effective as trying to shoot a mosquito with a BB gun.” Indeed, other neighboring communities with much higher per-capita education and income, do not treat for mosquitoes. I would ask Westmont leadership, yet again, please not to spend another $75,000 to $100,000 on mosquito abatement. If you really feel compelled to do something about mosquitoes, equally as effective, go to the local department store and buy a BB gun for $39.99. We, the taxpayers, will be thankful.

so naïve and can’t understand their only duty is a fiduciary one to taxpayers and students. [Robert] Breuder has clearly worked in his personal best interest, but why is the board so willing and helpful to allow it? Put their hats on, move them in the back room and replace them all, except Hamilton.

Pace is banking on a long shot to find a shortcut to funding a two-step transportation plan that would improve bus service to the suburbs in a six-county area. Pace has submitted a $2.3 billion plan to the U.S. Department of Transportation for review through the Projects of National and Regional Importance program, with the hope its plan will be picked for funding from numer-

ous other plans submitted from transportation agencies around the country. The Rapid Transit Network has two components: The Arterial Bus Rapid Transit System would add routes and enhanced stations run on an express basis with less frequent stops, and the renovation of Pulse stations would provide easier access to buses and have an improved waiting environment, as well as electrical signage indicating bus arrival times. DuPage Fair pledges 2015 event despite 300 code violations “Our goal is to get to 2020 and have a big hurrah to say thanks for your support and sign off. I don’t think we’ll get a lease extension. The pressure has been on for 30 years to remove the fair from the grounds.”

By NATHAN LURZ nlurz@shawmedia.com The organizers of the DuPage County Fair said there is no threat to the continuation of this year’s event despite the revelation of more than 300 building code violations on its grounds – at least for now. The number came from a report released Friday by County Board Chairman Dan Cronin’s real estate assessment task force in its assessment of the future use of the property. The goal of the task force was to evaluate the grounds to make sure they are used to their fullest potential and identify alternatives if necessary. The violations were declared after Wheaton and county inspectors went through the more than a dozen buildings on the grounds in October, DuPage County Fair Association Treasurer Jim McGuire said. The nonprofit was informed of the violations Jan. 5 and given 90 days to take care of high-priority items in the buildings used year-round for the multitude of programs the fairgrounds host. Three days later, several buildings had been closed by the city of Wheaton,

Jim McGuire DuPage County Fair Association treasurer

but the association had already done enough to have many reopened the same day, McGuire said, while others remain closed. The report estimated the fixes could cost upward of $2 million – a big bill considering the association’s annual budget of about $1.6 million. However, McGuire said the association projected a much lower figure. He said he was confident the fairgrounds could quickly be brought up to code. “You’re hiring people to raise questions, but that doesn’t necessarily mean all the questions are something,” he said. “Now we have to go through the process of defending some of our buildings and explore the costs of replacing parts if the city says we need to.”

CALL NOW 1-800-254-7349

The report detailed several possible alternative uses for the property, including outdoor athletic fields and a recreation center and mixed-income and senior housing. It also nixed others, including residential, office or commercial uses. County Board member Jim Healy, chairman of the county’s Public Works Committee, said regardless of outcome, the county wanted to ensure it retained control of the land. “The one thing I know about land is that you can’t make more of it,” he said. “We are confined at the county to the footprint we have ... I don’t want [someone] in 100 years to thumb back and say ‘Those guys sold that property – too bad.’” A significant amount of the association’s budget stemmed from state

money, Healy said, which could be in jeopardy. Healy estimated he and the rest of the committee would spend most of 2015 deciding the future of the grounds and working with the association to determine if it was worth investing money into keeping the grounds updated for the fair before its lease runs out in 2020. The report also expressed concern that the association was operating “beyond the original scope and intent of the lease” by hosting so many other events. But safety remains the first priority, Healy said. McGuire said he looks forward to continuing the fair’s mission of educating and promoting the role of agriculture in the lives of community members. He also believes the association has plans to “polish ourselves up a little bit” and is open to input from outside groups. At the same time, he is not optimistic about the fair’s long-term future. “Our goal is to get to 2020 and have a big hurrah to say thanks for your support and sign off,” he said. “I don’t think we’ll get a lease extension. The pressure has been on for 30 years to remove the fair from the grounds.”

ILLINOIS TRAFFIC CHALLENGE The Downers Grove Police Department will be participating in the 2015 Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge. Traffic safety is one of the highest priorities for the Downers Grove Police Department. Department personnel work year-round to educate our citizens, beginning with preschool students, on the importance of being safe in a vehicle, on a bike, and as a pedestrian. Aggressive and consistent traffic enforcement coupled with educational efforts has the greatest chance of reducing the incident of traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities. The Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge was created to recognize law enforcement agencies for their efforts in addressing traffic safety issues. This program is modeled after the National Chiefs Challenge awards developed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to target problematic traffic issues including speeding, impaired driving, and use of seat belts and child safety seats. Please do your part. Buckle-up on every trip, every time; make sure your children under the age of eight are restrained in a properly fitting child safety seat. Obey the speed limit, especially in school zones or construction zones, and do not drink and drive. It is the police department's goal to have a safe new year. Please make it your goal as well.

Bien Trucha treats Glen Ellyn to a toda madre GLEN ELLYN – Newcomer a toda madre is a testament to the importance of culinary balance. The Mexican eatery, transplanted to Glen Ellyn by Geneva’s Bien Trucha, opened late in 2014, with equal parts sophistication and comfort. Nestled in the heart of downtown, the small-town charm of the restaurant’s surroundings provides a pleasant contrast to its elegant, urban interior. Behind the bar is an exposed brick wall boasting a vast array of tequila. The vintage molding on the ceiling is glazed an elegant white. Modern blue tiles cover the floor of the bar, while the dining room is softened by hardwood and low lighting that bathes an abstract floral mural’s organic tones. The aesthetic is contemporary with a hint of nostalgia. Even after 9 p.m., the place was packed, buzzing with upbeat Friday night chatter. Several parties mingled near the bar, hoping to score a table. Fortunately, my dining companion and I had a reservation. We were seated, and a bowl of thick tortilla chips appeared, accompanied by smoky refried beans. The menu features a variety of items, from appetizers to full plates, all of which are meant to be shared. We began with an appetizer of tostada de ceviche topped with frizzled leeks. Spotlighting tilapia and apple, it was aggressively bright and acidic – an energizing start to the meal. Warm tacos pescado followed, the mild fish accented with creamy red cabbage slaw. We couldn’t limit ourselves to just one style of taco, and ordered the chilango, as well. The quartet provided a pleasing, adventurous medley of textures, from the velvety salsa verde cruda to the tender skirt steak to chicharron for engaging crunch. We also opted for the frijoles borrachos – drunken beans with pork belly, pico de gallo and Mexican beer – which

editorial@mysuburbanlife.com DOWNERS GROVE – Improved health is adding to the soaring momentum for Downers Grove North’s basketball team. Devin Blake, a West Suburban Silver all-conference player last season, and Bowen Marks both returned from injuries Friday, and their additions combined with strong defense and clutch free-throw shooting to earn the host Trojans their seventh straight win, a 49-44 victory against Oak Park-River Forest. Blake (nine points, four rebounds) provided a big spark off the bench to a balanced Downers North attack led by Jordan Kedrowski (12 points, two steals). “Our first win in two years against them, the first game back for myself ... it’s really exciting,” said Blake, who missed two weeks with a sprained ankle. “We’ve got something really special going.” Myles Farley added eight points and Matt Mahlke (four rebounds) and Colin Kramper scored six each. Dave Edwards grabbed a team-high five rebounds, and Marks hit a 3-pointer early in the Trojans’ decisive 17-0 second-half rally. Free-throw shooting was extra special Friday for North (11-5, 2-4 WSS). The Trojans made 10 of 11 charity tosses in the fourth quarter and 15 of 19 overall while the Huskies were just 4 for 11 at the line on the night (1 for 4 in the second half). “It seems like we’re kind of out of sync at times,” said Trojans coach Jim Thomas, whose team trailed 21-18 at halftime. “But we kept our composure late and stepped up to the free-throw line. And that’s where we won the game. Our kids stayed under control and kept battling.” Defense was the other second-half key. The Huskies led 29-22 with 5:30 left in the third quarter, but Downers North proceeded to hold OPRF scoreless for more than nine minutes (until 4:05 left in the game) to build a 39-29 lead. The Huskies shot 35 percent from the floor on the night (17 of 49), and were 3 of 18 during the first 12 minutes of the second half. “Overall, everyone’s flying around, getting stops and rebounding the ball,” Blake said of the defensive keys. “Everyone’s talking and communicating – everyone was connecting really well.”

Downers Grove North’s Devin Blake shoots from the paint Friday against Oak Park River Forest in Downers Grove. After OPRF drew within 47-44 on a 3-pointer with 16.1 seconds left, Kedrowski’s two free throws with 15 seconds left sealed the win. Matt Fallbacher (five points) and Farley each were 4 for 4 from the line in the fourth. The Trojans’ run since a 4-5 start has been impressive but not surprising to the team. “Four of the five teams we’ve lost to have been ranked in the state,” Thomas said. “And these kids have been winning since fifth grade. I had to pull a couple of them up [to varsity] a few years ago, but they’re all together again.

“They’re all such great kids and they all bring their own value to the team,” Thomas added. “They like each other and play for one another.” Getting Edwards back from injury in mid-December was a huge factor, and another boost came Friday. “There are a lot of reasons (for the streak),” Blake said. “Everyone’s clicking, maturity, we have a Division I football player going to Wisconsin in Dave [Edwards] who’s back. “Everyone’s really focusing in and realizing the goal of winning a regional and sectional. That’s where you want to be, playing those big games and cutting down nets.”

The Downers Grove North girls basketball team dropped its last two conference by a combined seven points. After defeating rival Hinsdale Central in their West Suburban Silver opener Dec. 2, 2014, the Trojans gave up a fourth-quarter lead Jan. 20 and fell to Hinsdale Central 45-43. Junior Jaida Green led the way for the Trojans with 20 points and six rebounds while Madison Farnsworth chipped in eight points and six rebounds. The Trojans returned to action Saturday for their only game of the season against conference for Oak Park River Forest. DGN jumped out to a 9-3 advantage after the first quarter before OPRF battled back to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room at half. Ultimately, the hot-shooting Huskies were too much for the Trojans, as Oak Park River Forest hit 10 3-pointers and ran away with a 57-52 victory. Peyton Winters paced DGN with 17 points and seven rebounds and Green finished with 16 points. In the midst of a three-game losing streak that dates back to a Jan. 17 defeat at the hands of Marist, head coach Stephan Bolt believes the team’s effort and intensity is lacking. “Our opponents want it more than us, they have found ways to win while we have found ways to lose,” Bolt said. “Defensively we have to be better, we have to be better on the glass and we need to have a better shot selection down the stretch.” The Trojans faced Lemont on Tuesday night and will go on the road to play Proviso West at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Downers Grove South girls eye share of conference lead By ALEX SOULIER asoulier@shawmedia.com DOWNERS GROVE – The Downers Grove South girls basketball team is firing on all cylinders heading into arguably its toughest stretch of the season. After an emphatic 49-38 road victory against Providence Catholic on Jan. 21, the Mustangs returned to conference action Saturday against Leyden. Ava Porlier paced DGS with 15 points, Kiera James added 13 points and Vashae Easley added 12 as the Mustangs jumped out to a 20-points lead and cruised to a 53-41 win. Saturday’s victory improved the Mustangs’ West Suburban Gold standing to 7-1 on the season, just one game back of conference-leading Proviso East. “Providence was a huge win for us. I don’t think many people expected us to

go there and leave with a victory,” coach Lyndsie Long said. “Then, against Leyden, we got out to a big lead early and I was able to play all my players, so that was a nice moment for the team.” While Long and the Mustangs enjoyed the back-to-back victories and have now won four of their past five contests, they returned to practice Monday focused on the upcoming week against two of the top teams in the state. The Mustangs went on the road Tuesday night to face 21-2 Benet, an East Suburban Catholic team loaded with Division I athletes, including Bradley-bound Emily Eshoo, Northern Michigan commit Emily Schramek and D-I recruit Kathleen Doyle. “Benet is loaded with great players, so we just need to get in a good day of practice, break down film and come out

ready to play,” Long said. “Hopefully we can stay focused and limit mental mistakes and turnovers. Downers Grove South will return to the practice court Wednesday and Thursday before a West Suburban Gold Showdown with Proviso East, which defeated DGS 77-49 on Dec. 13, 2014, then 6148 in the third-place game of the Oswego East holiday tournament. This time, the Mustangs will play host to the Pirates, and Long knows they will have to play mistake-free basketball to notch an upset victory. “Proviso East is a very fast, quick and athletic team,” she said. “We have played them twice this year, once in a very competitive tournament game, so we know that we have to stay focused and come ready to play. It will be a huge win if we can pull it off.”

Winning definitely eases the tension, but this is a really good group of girls and we have a lot of fun playing together.

after an eight-day layoff, leading the Mustangs to a road victory against Providence Catholic on Jan. 21 and pacing the team with 15 points Saturday in a win against Leyden.

What’s it going to take to get a win in either of those games? Porlier: We have to limit turnovers

and make the most out of each possession. Shot selection will be key, and we need to make sure to run through our offense and really look for the open shooter. And we just need to focus and play good help-side defense. They are two very good teams, but they are beatable and we are looking forward to the challenge.
