Art Show “Textures of Kansas”

The Shawnee North Oil and Acrylic class will display original paintings in an exhibit titled Textures of Kansas. The public is invited to enjoy works by local artists.

Outdoor Kansas for Kids Day

Activities will take place along the Shawnee North nature trail. Participants can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as archery, casting practice, native Kansas animals, nature painting and much more.

Ward-Meade Garden Glow

The Ward-Meade Garden Glow will feature illuminated annuals, trees and lighted displays including larger-than-life flowers. Enjoy live music and building tours of Old Prairie Town on Friday and Saturday evenings. The garden is open Sunday through Thursday for a more tranquil experience. Presented by the Friends of Ward-Meade Date: Sept. 16-Oct. 2 Time: 7-10 p.m. Fee: $5, Children 5 and under free

Holiday Happenings

Join the festive crowd and experience the charm of the beautifully decorated Old Prairie Town at Ward-Meade Historic Site. Step into the historic Mansion and experience an enchanting evening you’ll long remember.

Our candlelight dinner is the main course of a magical Victorian evening! An elegant buffet will be served from the dining room of the Mansion. Live music will entertain you throughout the evening. Tour the Mansion and then enjoy hot cider and cookies by the fire in the cabin and hot fudge sundaes in the Potwin Drug Store. Look for future announcements of new events to be held on these special nights. They are sure to become a part of your holiday traditions. Reservations limited to 72 per evening, and they fill up fast. Reservations accepted beginning August 1. Please call 785-251-6993 for your reservation. Tails on the Trail

Wildlife Holiday

Spend family time together making Ecofriendly ornaments. Listen to the reading of The Night Tree and venture outside to decorate a tree for the park wildlife. Each group can make up a total of four ornaments, three to take home and one to hang in the park.
