My name is Christina Walker. I’m a member of the Sac & Fox Nation in Oklahoma and I have worked for Gatehouse Media/ Shawnee News-Star for the past 9 1/2 years. I specialize in Niche Publications and Special Projects. In 2013 I created the publication called “Our Native Traditions” designed to help teach our History in the Oklahoma school systems. My goal as a Native American is to preserve our heritage and educate others. This year I thought it would be a good idea to honor our tribal princesses. Being a princess takes a lot of dedication from each princess and her family. Each princess has honored her tribe and is a good role model for other young females for future generations. Thank you for everything you have done and giving me the opportunity to preserve our history for many years to come. I want to give a special thanks to my beautiful daughter, Ashley Tyce Ann Murdock, Sac & Fox Nation Honor Guard Princess 2015-2016. Ashley is a senior at Bethel High School in Shawnee, OK. As her mother, I want you to know how proud I am. You’re about to start your own venture in life and I believe God has great plans for you. Be a strong, proud Native American Woman. I love you very much and congratulations for achieving your high school goals.

We truly hope you enjoy this magazine honoring the princesses from many of the Native American tribes in Oklahoma. These young women work hard to earn these titles and are a source of pride for the tribes they represent throughout the year. This section showcases all of them in one place. Through social media and digital publishing, this magazine will have life throughout 2016. We are excited to make it an annual section that brings pride to people across Oklahoma.
We want to thank all of the tribes and princesses who participated in helping create this section. You can see more photos and learn more about the project at our special Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/ OklahomaNativeRoyalty. Appreciation is also due to the sponsors and advertisers who made this section possible. Take advantage of the information in this section to learn more about Oklahoma’s tribes and their royalty.
