Events run simultaneously in three arenas during each performance. The IFYR consists of two long-gos and a short-go, made up of the top 15 contestants in each event. OCTAFest 2018 July 20th -21st Shawnee PAAC 1001 N. Kennedy Ave. This year's OCTAFest will be hosted by Shawnee Little Theatre! The Oklahoma Community Theatre Association Festival (OCTAfest) is a state-wide biennial play festival that is the organization’s signature event. In accordance with OCTA’s mission to encourage excellence in theatre arts, the festival provides an opportunity for theatres to present their best artistic productions to the state, be adjudicated by nationally known theatre experts, and for audiences to see the best of community theatre performances. It is the first step in the national American Association of Community Theatre’s festival, in which the winners are invited to perform internationally. Two advancing plays are chosen during OCTAfest to advance to the regional festival, where one of those will be chosen to advance to the national festival. OCTA leads the nation with the most first and second place awards at regional and national festivals.

Movies Opening This Weekend in Shawnee! "UNCLE DREW"

After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax (Lil Rel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend UNCLE DREW (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew's old basketball squad (Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one. CITIZEN POTAWATOMI NATION TO PRESENT SECOND ANNUAL FIRELAKE FIREFLIGHT BALLOON FEST Thirty Hot Air Balloons Set to Fill the Sky Over Shawnee SHAWNEE – The FireLake Fireflight Balloon Fest is set to return to Shawnee this August, anticipated to be the largest balloon festival in the state, bringing live performers, family-friendly activities, giant kites, a display of 30 hot air balloons and more. Admission to the event is free and it is open to the public.

The two-day festival kicks off on Friday, Aug. 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Powwow Grounds. It will be a weekend filled with balloon glows, balloon rides, food trucks, retail vendors, amusement rides, a 5k, an outdoor hunting and fishing expo and balloon flight competitions. Festivalgoers can expect to see balloons embracing the Shawnee sky throughout the weekend and enjoy balloon glows on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The festival includes a kids’ zone and petting zoo, a carnival that’s open until midnight and tethered rides that begin at 6:00 p.m. Festivalgoers can continue to enjoy the live music and food trucks all day long, including performances from Amanda Coffee, the White Lighters and Vince Van, followed by Zo-
