Showtime boxing broadcast pits Fernandez vs. Foster at FireLake Arena
Local fighters Dennis Knifechief and Bo Gibbs in undercard bouts on September 21 SHAWNEE, Oklahoma – One man has never been knocked out. The other is one of the most exciting prospects in boxing. Both will square off in a 10-round junior lightweight bout at FireLake Arena on September 21. The event is part of the Showtime SHOBOX: THE NEW GENERATION – FERNANDEZ VS. FOSTER live broadcast. Spain’s Jon Fernandez looks to follow up on two exciting, early round victories during Showtime television’s ShoBox fights in 2017 and looks to repeat this success against Orange, Texas’ O’Shaquie Foster at FireLake Arena. Having never been knocked out, Foster is looking to take down the highly touted Spaniard. The event will be broadcast live on the Showtime network at 8:45 p.m. Central Daylight Time from FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma. "O'Shaquie Foster is a very good fighter, and although he was the underdog, he put on a great performance by beating Frankie Alba in his last fight," Fernandez told ESPN in August. "This is a big fight for both of us. I'm grateful to Lou DiBella for this opportunity to again show why I'm one of the best prospects in boxing." The Lou Diablla-promoted show features a stacked list of undercard bouts start at 7 p.m. before the main event. Local Oklahoma fighters will also be on the card, with Pottawatomie County’s Dennis Knifechief and Bo Gibbs both set to step into the ring. Ahead of the main event, two undercard fights will be on the broadcast. Featherweight Irvin Gonzalez Jr. will take on Carlos Ramos, while Wesley Ferrer and Steven Ortiz feature in a lightweight bout. Showtime recently introduced their camera view seating feature for this “ShoBox” event. Patrons in the audience zone who watch the fight in-person will be shown on the live broadcast as the action happens. General admission for this exciting night of boxing is only $40 plus fees, while premium seating starts at $60 plus fees. Tickets are available online at www.FireLakeArena.com or by calling FireLake Box Office at (405) 273-1637. FireLake Arena offers 5,000 seats and more than 52,000 square feet of event space for concerts, conventions and community events. Whether it is cold or hot outside, the arena’s geothermal heating and cooling system allows for a comfortable setting regardless of the number of attendees inside. Since its opening in early 2014, FireLake Arena has become one of central Oklahoma’s most popular venues for events of all kinds. It regularly hosts sporting events, including MMA and boxing, the Professional Bowlers Association Tournament of Champions, roller derbies and is also available to host basketball and volleyball tournaments.

Shawnee (0-2) used the bye week to focus on the matchup with defending 5A champs Carl Albert (2-0). The Wolves will hit the road hoping to give the Titans their first loss of the young season. Even though they're undefeated, Carl Albert's two games have been relatively close games. In week one they beat Midwest City 28-21 and last week they squeaked out an overtime victory over Del City, 32-31. Starting running back/linebacker Tre'Juan Shaw returns to the lineup after missing the Guthrie contest with a sprained knee. His energy on both sides of the ball should provide an instant boost in productivity. Shaw was limited to 23 yards rushing in week one, but found the end zone on two occasions. Carl Albert will be without starting tailback Dadrion Taylor who will miss a few more weeks with a knee injury. Shawnee's passing game is led by Heath Hunter's 370 yards and and three touchdowns. He's also rushed for
one touchdown. His main target, Trenton Skinner, is second in the area in receiving with 230 yards and two scores. The second option in the Shawnee passing game is Scout Cawvey with 67 yards. In the loss to Guthrie, there were a few bright spots on a defense that gave up 42 points. Hudson Smith, a sophomore, recorded two sacks. Freshman defensive back Jaylon Orange had an interception that prevented Guthrie from scoring in the first half. The last time Shawnee played Carl Albert was 2009 and the Wolves pulled out a 34-31 victory at home. The Wolves and Titans will kickoff at 7 p.m.

yards and six touchdowns. His receivers, Devin Acklin (258 yards) and Drae Wood (186 yards) are currently ranked first and third respectively.
The Bethel Wildcats (0-2) will host the Little Axe Indians with the hopes of securing their first win of the season.
If Matthew Melter and the running game can get going, Bethel has a good chance at picking up their first win this week. Melter also leads the team in tackles with 30.

Bethel's two losses are by a combined five points. They fell to Tecumseh 38-35 in the season opener and 28-26 to McLoud last week. Even though they've yet to pick up a win, this team will make things interesting and the opposition better be prepared to score some points. Little Axe lost to Bridge Creek 26-20 in the season opener and beat U.S. Grant 46-13 in week two. Gunner Smith leads all area teams in passing with 580
Keaton Robinson, Hunter Gambill, Gabel Ledbetter and Wood all recovered one fumble apiece on defense. Jesse Tucker intercepted one pass through two games. Cache Hankins and Corey Metscher have sacked the quarterback once. Kickoff is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Bethel High School.

#NSPreps Power Rankings
By Adam Ewing
adam.ewing@news-star.com Twitter: @aethefranchise
1. Seminole (2-0)
The Chieftains have allowed 7 points through two games and should have a similar performance against a Wewoka team that had their hands full with an Ada junior varsity squad last week. It will be interesting to see how the Chieftains running game will do without one of their featured backs in Jamon Dennis. Last week, Dennis went down with an apparent knee injury in the first half against Tecumseh.
2. Meeker (3-0)
Meeker continues to rely upon sophomore running back Caden Wolford who leads the area in rushing with 484 yards and six touchdowns. Quarterback Jacob Martin tossed his first touchdown pass of the season and has accumulated 344 yards through the air. Meeker's defense gets after the quarterback and has five sacks through three games. The Bulldogs held two opponents to under 10 points this season.
3. Shawnee (0-2)
Even though the Wolves struggled in their matchup with Guthrie, they showed a lot of promise in the overtime loss to Choctaw in week zero. With a week off and starting tailback Tre'Juan Shaw returning from a knee injury, Shawnee has all of their weapons available this week.

4. Maud (2-0)
7. Tecumseh (1-1)
The Tigers score, and they score often. With back-toback 50-plus point outings, Maud appears to be firing on all cylinders and responding to coach Brant Hayes' system. First-year starting quarterback Lane Brooks upped his production in week two, throwing for over 200 yards. The defense constantly disrupts the opposing quarterback and gang tackles on every play.
5. Chandler (1-1)
One thing is certain about the Chandler Lions. Win or lose, they will smack you in the mouth. In the week one loss to Stroud, the team fought until the very end. With the win over Oklahoma Centennial two weeks ago, and the first in the Jack Gray era, Chandler proved they can not only win but win big.
6. McLoud (1-1)
The Redskins secured their first win of the season, narrowly beating Bethel 28-26 last week. Brandon Vinson caught his first touchdown of the season and should get more involved in the offense as the season progresses. Tyler Jones also caught his first touchdown against the Wildcats. With Coye Campbell a viable option for starting quarterback Koalton Keller, Rusty Hall should feel good about the offense this week.
Kratom
Kratom is one amazing tool that has reshaped the lives of many people, by making it enjoyable, giving them an opportunity to live a relaxed life and treating pain. Kratom main effect is to give energy. Kratom heightens the senses with a feeling of happiness, joy or euphoria, as well as relief from chronic pain. Moreover, those suffering from chronic pain such as: • Arthritis • Backaches • Osteoporosis • Fibromyalgia • Migraines • Sciatica, etc. can potentially benefit from Kratom pain relief properties
Even though they were unable to score against Seminole, the Savages hung around until the very end. Coach Bullock has to feel pleased with his team's effort despite losing in week two. With two running backs capable of carving up defenses and an offensive line that rivals many colleges, Tecumseh should be in just about every game they play the rest of the way.
8. Prague (1-1)
The Brayden McGinnis show got rolling last week with a 200-plus yard performance and three scores. The passing game struggled through the first two weeks, but with Jake Schultz available to catch passes it's only a matter of time before the air attack starts clicking.
9. Bethel (0-2)
Coming off two loses by a combined five points, the Wildcats are not a team to take lightly. They have a good chance of picking up their first win of the season this week against Little Axe.

Area games slated for Sept. 14 Wewoka Tigers (1-1) at Seminole Chieftains (2-0) - 7 p.m.
Cade Hammond - Seminole
Micah Boyce - Tecumseh
The Chieftains blanked Tecumseh 18-0 on Friday. So far this season, the Seminole scoring machine has outscored their opponents 57-7. Seminole has the area's third-leading rusher in Cameron Gunville in the backfield. On the season, Gunville leads the team with 245 yards and three touchdowns. Last week the defense was led by Jared Stewart's three sacks. In week one, Wewoka lost to Holdenville 44-21 and turned around and beat Ada's junior varsity 30-22 in week two.
Tecumseh Savages (1-1) at Bridge Creek (1-1) – 7:30 p.m.
Maud Tigers (2-0) at Paoli Pugs (2-1) – 7 p.m.
The Savages hope to get back on track after an 18-0 loss to Seminole last week. Ty Bullock and the Savages will continue to rely on their running game. Micah Boyce leads the team with 159 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Jaylen Walker had a breakout week one and totaled 148 yards and three scores through two games.
So far this season the Maud Tigers have scored early and often. In two weeks they've outscored their opponents 1046. In week one, quarterback Lane Brooks accounted for six Maud touchdowns. In the 54-6 win over Sasakwa in Week two, Brooks tossed two touchdowns and ran one. Tiger's running back Brady Arms is currently tied for second in the area with four rushing touchdowns. In three games so far this season, the Pugs have been outscored 70-54.
Chandler Lions (1-1) at Mount St. Mary Rockets (1-1) – 7 p.m. Chandler returns after a bye week and hits the road to face a Rockets squad fresh off a 32-8 win over Crooked Oak. Chandler runs the ball and does it well. Starting back Dylan McKinney ranks fourth in the area in rushing yards. Quarterback Chabon Anderson is a threat running the ball. Anderson has rushed for 120 yards and a score in two games. Receiver Darian Mahan has two receiving touchdowns and Dylan Mahan caught a touchdown in week one. Mount St. Mary has outscored its opponents 32-21.
Bridge Creek won a close game week one with a 26-20 win over Little Axe and lost big to Lindsay 43-14 in week two.
McLoud Redskins (1-1) at Perkins-Tryon (2-0) – 7 p.m. Rusty Hall and the Redskins picked up a 28-26 victory over Bethel last week. Quarterback Koalton Keller has thrown two touchdowns each week and totaled 286 yards through the air. Damien Dye averages 78 yards per game and has three touchdowns. Tyler Jones upped his production in week two with a 92 yard one-touchdown performance. Last year, Perkins-Tryon beat the Redskins 49-21 in McLoud.
Prague Red Devils (1-1) at Luther Lions (0-2) – 7:30 p.m. Prague picked up a much needed win last week over Stroud. The Red Devils gave Brayden McGinnis the ball 30 times and he ran for 218 yards and three touchdowns. Eli Smith intercepted a pass last week for his first of the season. Tyler Carpenter recorded 13 tackles in the win.
Darian Mahan - Chandler
Luther has struggled so far this season, losing both contest by an 81-34 margin. Teams on bye week: Meeker (2-0)
