about me At the age of 7 I had my first exhibition. Granted it was also my only exhibition. An exhibit that adorned the walls of my bedroom, consisting largely of drawings my sister and I copied off Enid Blyton books, exclusively shown to our parents and close relatives for a nominal fee of 1 dirham. Years later, Art has continued to be an expression that intrigued me in any form or matter. One such form being Architecture. From Architecture, I have acquired an eye for design, an appreciation of Art history and a keen sense of attention to detail. Certain modules of my course such as History of Architecture, Principles of Architecture and Environmental Psychology, I have found extremely useful in analysing Art and gaining deeper understanding of concepts and its evolution. After graduating and working for a year in the field, I’ve decided I would like to work closer with artists while developing my own skills. Having participated in several presentations, I have also learnt to present myself well among clients. I believe these qualities would make me a positive contribution to your team and I would appreciate the opportunity to learn and work with you.

The objective of Kala Kendra is to create an atmosphere where ‘The Crazy Ones’ feel free to share their ideas and socialize in abundant informal areas, inspire those who search for it in various galleries and have a little chat with creators in the cafeteria. They could even create their own masterpieces in classrooms on the top floor. the building responds to the site in a number of ways and an interesting massing is thus created, aiming to be an inspiration in itself.

POSTERS
Music Interpretation
HOZIER - IN A WEEK Skills Used: Pen & Ink
Photoshop
The first of a series of Concert posters titled, “Fictional Concerts in the Sky”. The poster is inspired by the song “In a Week” from Hoziers self titled debut studio album. The smooth, peacefull tune lulls you into a false sense of security from the darker themes of the song, a conversation between two lovers in a forest, contemplating eventuallities after their passing. The colour pallete and style of the illustration mimics that sense of security by seeming as though it could have been taken from a childrens storytale. But a closer look shows the true nature of the Forest. The Irish singer-songwriter recalled back in his home town “Anytime you hear Wicklow Hills, it’s usually before or after the words ‘a body was found.’”
Poem Interpretation
SYMPATHY Skills Used: Photoshop Paul Laurence Dunbars’ poem, Sympathy, was interpreted in the form of a Collage. The objective of this exercise was to highlight the theme of the poem and to explore a surreal style of imagery. The paper crane represents the treatment of the oppressed Afrian American slave, as though they were not human. Not a breathing, living being. The dark drapery, overlapping of objects and darker colour theme is an effort to visualize the claustrophobia felt, in the absense of freedom.
