EXTENDA-SHIELD PRODUCTS SAVE YOU TIME AND MONEY What are Extenda-Life Crossarms? Extenda-Life Crossarms (Patented) are the culmination of several years of research and testing at Brooks Manufacturing Co. in an effort to extend the useable life of your products. Extenda-Life Crossarms are the same superior quality crossarms that Brooks has produced for decades, with the addition of a specially designed nail end plate hydraulically pressed into each end. These plates are not the same as "truss plates" with which most people in the industry are familiar. End plates are designed specifically for end grain application and have a special tooth design and pattern that locks itself in forming a permanent bond that prevents them from pulling out.
Why Use Extenda-Life Crossarms? The resulting cost savings to utilities goes far beyond the cost of the crossarm. Our research showed that the total cost to replace a crossarm varied between $1,000 and $8,000, depending on the equipment and personnel needed, the location of the structure, and the costs related to outages. This data showed that the cost savings involved with extending the life of crossarms is substantial. Extenda-Life Crossarms will last longer and perform better than standard crossarms. Some of the benefits include: • • • • • •
Eliminates end splitting of the crossarms. Prevents insulator pin pullouts due to splits. Nail End-Plated Crossarms will improve distribution line reliability. Protects against weathering and rot of crossarm ends. Reduce failures in the field under severe loading conditions. Provide substantial long-term cost savings by extending the life of the crossarm and reducing expenditures for labor, equipment, and materials. • Eliminates the need for other anti-split devices such as anti-split bolts. • Allows for date tracking of crossarms.

PRODUCTS WE LOVE
The connectBlue Rugged Bluetooth Ethernet Port Adapter (RBEPA) and Rugged Wireless LAN Ethernet Port Adapter (RWEPA) are available with a Bluetooth or a Wireless LAN 802.11b/g interface. The Wireless Ethernet Port Adapters are especially well-suited for mobile, rotating and temporary installations where there is a need for replacing the Ethernet cable with a robust and maintenance-free wireless connection. Further, these products are called “intelligent antennas” thanks to the ease of use and cost efficiency of the installation and configuration. Another unique feature of the RBEPA and RWEPA is the Low Emission Mode which solves potential interference distrubances between Bluetooth and WIreless LAN that is not handled by the Bluetooth implementation of Adaptive Frequency Hopping. The Wireless Ethernet Port Adapters are part of the connectBlue product range of Wireless Products in industrial housings.

The LiteGear’s compact design can be used to back up incandescent, induction, compact fluorescent, linear fluorescent or LED lighting fixtures up to 1000’ away in the emergency mode. Battery packs typically only allow you to go 2-10 feet away at max. This particular unit can power any combination of mixed lamp sources up to 100VA (while battery packs cannot accommodate mixed loads). The LiteGear will provide full lumen output for 90 minutes of operation and complies with UL 924 requirements. Another feature of this unit is that it can be used to bypass fixtures that may be switched off when the power fails. This unit is available in three different mounting styles with the most common being the surface wall mount. It also comes in a recessed T-Grid ceiling mount or a recessed wall mount. The recessed version is designed to fit between existing studs so that reframing, which can b e costly and time consuming, is not required. Green Electrical Upgrades are Powerful Opportunities to Cut Costs in the Industrial Market According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), industry and manufacturing consume approximately 32% of all U.S. energy usage. That is more than transportation, residential or commercial! As energy costs spiral upward, plant MRO managers are seeking cost-effective solutions that upgrade facilities and reduce energy costs.
ENERGY-SAVING
INDUSTRIAL POWER DISTRIBUTION SOLUTIONS
Green Electrical power distribution for industrial facilities emphasizes the use of highly sophisticated integrated systems that combine energy-efficient power handling control with advanced Ethernet/IP-based or wireless energy monitoring and controls. With these systems, plant managers are provided with a level of detailed energy data previously unavailable. Other green electrical solutions, including paralleling switchgear, busway, capacitors and filters, and UPS systems, are engineered to reduce energy loss and consumption and extend equipment life. POWER & ENERGY MANAGMENT SYSTEMS Poor quality power reduces productivity, shortens equipment life and erodes profits. A power management system provides critical information needed to implement and verify energy-saving initiatives. Systems use hardware and software to analyze, store, and share real time energy data through a standard Web browser. Systems enable facility owners to renegotiate lower electrical rates, prevent costly power quality problems, correct power delivery issues, and control demand to avoid rate penalties.
INTEGRATED PANELBOARDS AND INTEGRATED SWITCHBOARDS Innovative industrial panelboards/switchboards integrate multiple functions within a single pre-wired enclosure. Systems may include breakers and bus, sub-metering, lighting control, and energy monitoring equipment all “bundled together to control energy costs.
PARALLELING SWITCHGEAR Paralleling switchgear manage the transition from utility power to on-site power sources and make practical the use of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems, using wasted heat energy.
POWER FACTOR CORRECTION CAPACITORS AND FILTERS Capacitors and filters lower energy costs by supplying power to loads such as HVAC and elevators upon demand, therefore, decreasing energy consumption and reducing energy loss.
DOE indicates energy systems account for roughly 80% of all industrial and manufacturing energy usage. Nearly 40% of all warehouse electricity is consumed by lighting. Motors alone consume nearly 25% of all U.S. electricity consumption, and more than 60% of all industrial electricity
UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SYSTEMS (UPS) Higher efficiency UPS result in 50% less power loss, while reducing overall energy costs.
BUSWAY/POWER BUS Factory pre-wired busway or power bus reduces power loss. Power is easily distributed precisely to the required in a new location. Busway or powerbus is easily moved and reassembled in a new location.
SUBMETERING AND MONITORING SYSTEMS Electrical submetering/monitoring of energy usage by system, process, or plant supports billing and budgeting. Systems are used to track energy consumption of a specific system or function for data acquisition used in energy cost reduction efforts.
