SEPTEMBER 1st, 2018

Held at Lighthouse Community Centre

48th ANNUAL Lighthouse Country Fall Fair

Bow Horne Bay Community Club

The Bow Horne Bay Community Club has been going strong since 1970. We represent the wonderful neighbourhoods of Bowser, Horne Lake, Qualicum Bay and Deep Bay and we invite you to join us and count yourselves among those who work relentlessly to give back to the people who live here! It only takes a day, or even a few hours a year, to make a difference. The Club strives to encourage community spirit & family involvement through community events. These help to promote our local organizations & businesses which enrich the lives of those around us, the health of our community, the local amenities available to us, the wellbeing of our children, and the value of our real estate. Our primary projects are the Lighthouse Country Fall Fair, Trivia Night, and the triennial Lighthouse Country Garden Tour and Strawberry Tea, along with other events such as the Mother’s Day Sale, all of which benefit hugely from the contribution of your talent, creativity, ideas and muscle! We welcome new members and need your support to continue the great work we do. Please contact Joanne Ferreiro, President, at joanne@joanneferreiro.com or 250 228 4231 to become more involved with our Community Club.

WELCOME TO THE FAIR

Celebrating Volunteers! It was with extra special delight and excitement that the Bow Horne Bay Community Club executive chose Celebrating Volunteers as the theme for this year’s Fair! We’ve always treasured our volunteers, knowing you were at the heart of our success, but no more so than this year when we put out the rally cry to ‘Save Our Fair’ and the community stepped up, big time, to do just that. I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks. ~ William Shakespeare With the great response we received, it was evident that the Fall Fair resonated with you as an annual opportunity to celebrate and enjoy family time, artistry, creativity, fun, support for our local artisans, laughter, our children, sharing and giving. Such values set us apart as a community in which people know they are cared for and supported. The world is hugged by the faithful arms of volunteers. ~ Terri Guillemets We’d also like to send a heartfelt thank you to the many businesses for their generous support to help 2

fund this event – we couldn’t do it without you. Join Us At The Fair! So, let’s get ready! Have you thought of ‘testing’ your talents in one of the many friendly competitions listed in this guide? Now’s the time to get your creative juices going – have fun with the family and plan to grow, bake, paint, photograph or design a unique creation to display at the Fair this year! We are thrilled to continue the tradition of FREE admission and activities for children under 12. Mark the date on your calendar to attend the Fair with your family and friends. Enjoy local art, jewellery, clothing, décor, exciting games and stage shows, fantastic music, an amazing display of entries, pony rides, antique cars, fire engines, minitrain ride, bouncy castles, delicious food and more.

We promise you a great time and we look forward to seeing you there!

President Joanne Ferreiro Although we love dogs, we have experienced a few problems in the past with allowing them at the Fair. They tend to scare some of the farm animals, along with a few other complaints. Please do them and us a favour and leave them at home on Fair day (not in a hot car). They will be more comfortable at home. Thank you for your understanding.

Your Lighthouse Country Real Estate Expert! “It was a delight, right from the start, to have Joanne working with us as our real estate agent. She was always positive, creative, helpful and hardworking. We have never had an agent who is so prompt in replying to questions and making sure everything is done in a timely manner. She has excellent communication skills and awareness of the local real estate market. It was the nicest property sale we have experienced. Many stated it gave them a chance to develop new skills (64% said interpersonal skills improved). As well, volunteer experience gave them better skills in communications, organizing, fundraising, technical or office work and increased their knowledge in areas new to them.
