Fire, together with Wind, Earth and Water is one of the four known basic Elements, which represent the substance of the world. Often known as the “Two sided element”—Fire in
lights the way; it is indispensable. It is also an impulsive and a dangerous element, that can smoulder and suddenly burst. It can give wings of courage, compassion and devotion. It is obstinate and heady and absolutely not subtle. It is seen as the force burning inside us, giving us an iron willpower to go for our goals, bestowing upon us the passion to do it with all of ourself, resulting in the honor and freedom to do it with an open face.

A spark is an incandescent particle. Such sparks may be produced by pyrotechnics, by metalworking or as a by-product of fires, especially when burning wood. Sparks are usually particles of the steel which become red hot and so melt into globules. These sparks can be used to ignite tinder and so start a fire.

In ancient mythology and in myths, the phoenix is a mythical sacred firebird. The phoenix is a bird with beautiful gold and red plumage. At the end of its life-cycle the phoenix builds itself a nest of cinnamon twigs that it then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix arises. A flame is a chemical reaction between two or more chemicals that produces heat and light and other chemicals, (products of combustion). For a constant flame to be maintained then there must be a method of renewing the supply of the two or more chemicals (usually convection). In 2000, experiments by NASA confirmed that gravity plays an indirect role in flame formation and composition.

Fire stands for unbridled emotions, hatred and anger, but also love and happiness. It stands for changings, as it means the changeover between Earth, Water and Wind (Air). It stands for fighting in the open field, without mean tricks and ambushes. It represents a dream, a virtue, a belief, and never means your commitment only, but its realization.

WILDFIRES IN THE US AND ACRES DESTROYED Wildfires are a perennial problem in the Northwest. With miles and miles of wilderness, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, and Washington get more than their fair share of major forest fires. Lightning ignites most of these fires, but not all. Poorly-attended campfires, train and machinery sparks, and tossed cigarette butts cause no end of problems during the Northwest’s dry summer season. Once started, fires are subject to the whims of wind and weather.

Direct Property Damage
Many people believe that if they are careful they are much less likely to have a fire. While it is true that being careful will make you safer it will not stop fire from happening. Most fires are not caused from carelessness. They are caused from every day living that is almost impossible for us to change. The graph shows the major causes of fire, injuries and

Fire is the Staff of our birth. It is the boldness and rashness of the young. It is the bounce of wild delight, the boisterousness of excitement. It is our hope, our goal, our desire, our energy and urgency for the future.

Fire is enthusiastic, warming, and the spark of life. It is passionate, emotional, untamed, the most powerful of energy forces, for it represents the force of the Spirit. It is a flame that flickers, or a blaze that destroys. It glows in the Sun. It dances in the hearth, attracts the eye, and desire. It colors the blood. It is the pulse of our being.

I have been surrounded with art my whole life. I grew up in a home that had a love for art. The beauty of art has always attracted me and I have always loved being able to create it myself. I knew graphic design was what I wanted to do. I chose Fire as a phenomenon as I have always been intrigued by it. I tried to showcase the two sides of this element— The Friend and The Monster. If you have warmed your hands in its welcomed heat and enjoyed its friendly light, you know that all fire is not the raging holocaust. Fire, along with air, water, and earth, is a basic environmental factor. It has been a natural directing force in human evolution and the earth we inhabit. Histor y indicates that humans learned to use and control fire and was, perhaps our first tool.
