Snowsports 2022

• Girls compete individually and in teams according to their year level and ability.

Division 5 – School Years 4 and under (for all events except Alpine)

As Shelford will not be providing a staff member on the mountain, full parent/guardian involvement is required to compete. This includes providing officials and team managers as Teamrequired.management involves distributing uncollected bibs, ensuring athletes are in the right place at the right time, ferrying unwanted gear to the bottom of the course (on skis or snowboard) and looking after the students before and after the event. Only competent skiers and snowboarders should perform the role of team manager, unless it is possible to walk to the event.

Snowsports events

• The events are Alpine Snowboard Giant Slalom, Giant Slalom, Skiercross, Moguls.

Competitors are divided into the following divisions based on school years.

Competitors can participate in any of the following disciplines:

Registration with Snowracer is free of charge and includes Snowracer Insurance.

• Cross Country (individual or relay, experienced only)

The Victorian Interschool Snowsport Championships provides an opportunity for students to further develop their skills and to represent Shelford at Mt Buller in August 2022.

• Ski Slopestyle or Snowboard Slopestyle (experienced only)

• The Victorian Interschools competition will be held from Monday 22–Sunday 28 August. Cross Country runs on Sunday 7 August.

• Junior School divisions compete Monday to Wednesday.

Please note that in 2022 Shelford will not be providing staff members on the mountain for the duration of the Interschool competition. However, we will still coordinate team entries and bib collection for participants.

Each division is further subdivided into boys and girls.

• Students compete in divisions depending on their year level.

• Fun and fitness while competing as a team against other schools.

• Encouragement of parental support and family involvement.

All participants need to have an active Snowracer SnowID. If competitors have competed in Interschools previously they will already have a SnowID but it will need to be renewed and activated for the upcoming year. New participants will need to sign up for Snowracer to receive a SnowID.

The event organisers require each school to contribute volunteer race officials. If we are unable to provide officials for an event, teams in that event, risk disqualification.
