About our Season Celebrating its 15th season the Dow Centennial Centre Shell Theatre continues a long history of providing great cultural opportunities for the community. But we’re not the only ones celebrating an anniversary this year, Jake’s Gift returns for Remembrance Day celebrating the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the landing at Juno Beach. Or how about re-living the release of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” on the same day that it was released 40 years later? Engage in the newest of programs with the inaugural national tour and debut of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s “Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet™.” For the first time ever in Alberta the talents of Australia’s Gravity & Other Myths are showcasing their astounding acrobatic skills in “Backbone.” Also new this year, the Shell Canada Classic Albums Live Series relives the music of your past exactly how you played it on your record or cassette player – the entire album from start to finish in one glorious night of your favourite music. Jake’s Gift is a surprisingly funny, multi-award winning drama, about a Canadian WW2 veteran’s reluctant return to Normandy, France. While roaming the shores of Juno Beach, Jake encounters Isabelle, a precocious ten-year-old from the local village whose inquisitive nature and charm challenge the old soldier to confront some long ignored ghosts. At its heart, Jake’s Gift is about the legacy of remembrance and personalizes the story behind one soldier’s grave.

There’s over a decade’s worth of memories to celebrate for Barney Bentall & The Cariboo Express; the annual variety show has become a favourite event in Western Canada, building a tradition and warming the hearts of all ages of audiences while contributing to worthwhile causes.
