ACADEMY OF LIFELONG LEARNING Thursday, December 14 • 4 p.m. Although critics of the 1892 premiere of The Nutcracker deemed Tchaikovsky’s work as “lopsided” and “insipid,” the work is now a perennial favorite and arguably the composer’s most famous composition. What happened at the premiere? Did Tchaikovsky hold true to the original story as told by the French playwright Alexander Dumas? Come join Dr. Tom Cimarusti as we explore the magical world of living dolls, nutcrackers, and the evil Mouse King. Tickets $15
