Sexual violence is more prevalent on college campuses compared to other crimes, victims who are students are less likely to report to law enforcement, and college-age adults are at the highest risk for sexual violence than any other age group.

13% of all students experience rape or sexual assault through physical force, violence, or incapacitation (among all graduate and undergraduate students).

23.1% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have been sexually assaulted.

Only 20% of female student victims, age 18-24, report their assault to law enforcement.

5.8% of students have experienced stalking since entering college.

Know Your Rights Title IX was created to protect college students against sexual violence, including written or verbal harassment, cyberbullying, unwanted advances, sexual touching, spreading sexual rumors, stalking, voyeurism, exhibitionism, or physical threats.

Colleges have an obligation to address any reports of sexual misconduct, whether from students, professors, coaches, or faculty.

If you experience sexual violence in any way, shape, or form on your college campus, you have the right to receive a prompt & thorough investigation into your accusation, and the right to receive protection (interim measures) until the investigation is concluded.

What are my options after experiencing sexual assault?

Experiencing sexual violence can be a traumatizing and confusing experience, and it's normal to feel unsure about how to work through that trauma.

You have every right to report your experience to a trusted adult, a member of law enforcement, or a college staff member, but the choice is yours. Not reporting your assault does not make your experience any less legitimate.
