WHO WE ARE

Shelterhouse is a nonprofit organization that has been serving victims of domestic and sexual violence in Midland and Gladwin Counties since 1976. Everyone deserves to feel safe. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Deciding if, when, or how to leave an abusive relationship safely

Emergency shelter

Safe refuge for you, your children, and your pets before you transition into new housing

Legal advocacy

Support and/or court accompaniment as you navigate divorce, personal protection orders, or crime victim compensation

Mental health support

One-on-one counseling and support groups to help you process and overcome trauma

Sexual assault nursing examinations

Comprehensive medical exams that offer emergency contraceptives, STI testing and preventative medication, and forensic evidence collection
